  1. Hi All Has anyone got any suggestions for the replacement of the standard Zed aerial for a decent DAB one. I've had the glass ones in the past but aren't a fan of them because of the bad reception so need a good external one. Any help much appreciated. Regards Mart.
  2. Hi all Managed to pick up a Kenwood DAB unit last week in mint condition. I've read through a fair bit of the info on here as to what cables to connect etc but would just like some help to make sure I start off with the right cables for my Zed (07 GT with the Bose system and Bird view Sat nav installed). I want to keep the existing amp and speakers and also utilise the steering controls. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I'm looking at swapping my Bose head unit after reading a couple of very good guides on here. My question relates to the voice guidance from the Sat nav, which I've read somewhere, no longer works. Is this the case and is there a workaround for it ie. Modifying the wiring? Also with the replacement unit having Bluetooth I would remove the hands free module fitted. Can I still use the roof mic with the new unit....possibly by rewiring as necessary. Many thanks. Mart.
  4. Does any member know if all of the 350Z stereo systems suffer the same as the Bose system, ie. the 6 cd changer stuttering to play a full track due to the condensation inside. I like the setup of the standard system and with the sat nav installed anyway I don't want another touch screen. I noticed there are similar units in the Navaho so am looking to retrofit a similar item into the Zed instead of modifying anything in the Bose unit. Has anyone got any ideas or is this a non starter.
  5. Hi guys and belated Merry Christmas. Good news...got a pair of drop links (Bilstein Febi) and got them fitted this morning at a local tyre and service centre for £30. The rattling is now deceased and just road noise and purring V6 to listen to now. Thanks to all who advised me on this. I can finally start on the things I want to tidy up now....door trims, sound deadening and a nice "Z" partition panel for the boot that I've seen on the forum. Happy Z018 guys.
  6. I haven't looked at those yet, they all seem solid and bushes are where they are supposed to be. Compression rods were dodgy anyway so going for drop links next. If that fails then there's only the lower arms left to replace. Fingers crossed for the last 2 options.
  7. Yeah that makes sense, didn't think of the obvious I'll try this and get back to you. At least they aren't too expensive to replace and I guess easy to swap too.
  8. I think that might narrow things down a bit. The banana arm bushes were on the way out anyway so no money wasted there. It isn't a real heavy clunk, lighter, more like someone hitting the chassis with a small spanner. it doesn't happen over speed bumps or pot holes either. Is there any other way to confirm that it's the drop links?
  9. Quick update on the above suspension knocks. Had the car serviced this morning and MOT'd too. Also had the banana arms replaced and guess what.....that knocking is still there. Now having a bit more exploratory work carried out to try and get to the bottom of this. Otherwise I suspect the radio will be on full blast for a while until it is sorted. Worst thing with any problems is the not knowing.
  10. Thanks. Will keep you posted. Have a good weekend. Mart.
  11. Hi ATTAK Z Thanks so much for the advice, I'll see how much the garage charges and get both done at the same time. In your opinion is it worth getting some poly bushes and starting the gradual replacement of stock ones....pushing the banana ones out of the new units and gradually doing the control arm and upper wishbone arm. Incidently, my apologies for getting yur name back to front....oops.
  12. Hiya Having now been struck down with the dreaded knocking noise from the front suspension and thanks to Z Attack who has supplied a picture of a new banana arm I now know what I'm looking for. I had the car checked out today and was told that everything was as tight as a drum and next months MOT was a formality....but didn't know where the knocking was. So I've had the wheels off myself and took a couple of pics of the arm bushes. They look solid but seem to have something around the outside of the bush that looks like its coming out. I don't want to look a complete prat but is this the bush on its way out or do they look normal. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks. Mart.
  13. hi and welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie too but in the midlands. Nissan online say engine is good for 250k miles if well looked after so regular oil changes and services should see you through...if any of us keep our cars that long......but I wouldn't mind. its an awesome motor.
  14. Thanks for the comments guys. Feel well at home here now. Yur right AMT, found something to take on now. Firstly I need the boot area soundproofing to make it a little quieter so looks like Dynamat extreme and Dynaliner for there and a few spare dry hours too... unless someone can recommend a different or better material. Secondly I have an annoying rattling coming from the engine bay...not constantly or when over speed bumps but I know it's there. could be an exhaust bracket or something, not the usual knock you get from suspension. I might have to take it to the local Nissan dealer in Stafford or an independent Zed specialist if one exists in the north midlands. A nice exhaust will be nice but at the moment the stock one is doing well. back box is solid, the centre main pipe looks a little corroded but no through holes as yet so fingers crossed. I'll trawl through the help tutorials on here soon to find some help on soundproofing...nice evening reading I think.
