  1. Thanks Keyser,

Yeah holding it on the clutch meant hill starts etc just to pull away, as I only drive ~ 1.5 miles to work (yes I'm that lazy) I may hold off on contacting the garage and go for a long spirited drive this weekend - without breaking any speed limits - to give it a good run, then if I notice it next week I will pop back down to the garage and have them look into it.

Will have a go on the way back home to se if the clutch is slipping whilst in a high gear, haven't noticed the revs going crazy but definitely work a check.

    Thanks,

    Pete

  2. Hi all, here is a new one for me but who knows someone else may have may well know what is happening.

Basically the slave cylinder packed up on my car (HR model) which as Nissan moved it from the easy fix DE model to lets take everything apart I decided to get the clutch replaced since they had it in bits.

I have now had the car back and after a couple of days I noticed a strange smell (can only describe it as a rotting cabbage type smell) it only seems to happen when the car has warmed up a bit and I am holding it on the clutch/changing gears fast, I will be taking the car back to the garage this weekend to investigate but it would be nice if I was armed with some more information as it may well be a very labour intensive job and I don't want to have to pay out again on it.

Could it be something like oil/grease leaking in from somewhere or the clutch slipping a bit where the cable is a little loose? I am not mechanically minded so don't want to be fobbed off with something.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Pete

Hehe so v2.0 has piqued some interest!

@PeteWiix this install is pretty damn easy, especially the new version. No soldering, no scotch locs, no bullet connectors, basicslly, if you can undo some screws, you can install this!

@cs2000 like the easy option, can you link me to ordering and payment and I'm in :D

  4. An update on my issue, popped down to a local garage who have worked on it before they checked it over and found no issues with the engine at all in fact they said it was in a very good condition. I had the battery replaced as it was on its way out since then it is now running at around 15psi on warm idle so definitely an improvement, if it drops again I think I might just bite the bullet and get the gaskets changed as a precaution.

H-dev (near newbury) did the work on my HR last year when it needed it, might be close enough for you to get to?

From memory it was a fixed price £799, and no hesitations recommending them

Thanks for the info, not too far away but may be an issue getting there and back unless they have a loan car, also getting time off of work to do it is going to be an issue.

Going to pop down to my local garage who have done some work for me already and ask them for a quote (no issues buying the kit myself for £200 from Horsham and just paying for labour) lets see what they say and go from there.

  6. I am around the 500 miles a year mark, it was a high mileage car at 120k on the clock when purchased but every year the average is considerably reduced so unless I get a seriously large repair bill or someone offers me a crazy amount of money for it I have no intent to sell. My main payments recently have been for sensors which don't seem to be cheap (between £120 and £200 each).

  7. Similar incident for me, washed my car the previous day (due to lots of trees where I live so gets a nice green tint to it after a week).

Drove into work the next day and parked next to my bosses car and a crappy fiesta, little did I know that my company were getting the pest controllers in to get rid of some seagull eggs, low and behold I finish work and my car must have had a ton of seagull crap on it and nothing on my bosses car or the one next to me.

  8. Standard Benadryl (the blue ones) are the only ones that work for me, I take them as I need them and try not to be out at dusk when it gets really bad, the one a day tablets regardless of the type seem to make me drowsy. Also living in an area surrounded by fields doesn't help but slightly unavoidable due to work.

  9. Hi and welcome to the forum,

As a new owner (last few months) firstly I would like to say have read around on here as there is loads of advice on issues seen with all models and what to look out for and a lot of help from the members if you need it.

Also be patient, it took me 6 months of looking around and a few frustrating times when the car I wanted was sold within a few days of it being advertised, but at the end of the day I ended up with a GT spec HR in good condition with full service history for under 6K. Still learning about the car which is part of the fun :D

  10. Unfortunately its a communal driveway so the wood ramps are a no go, might try to find out who is responsible for the entrance though. Air cups good shout but will need to save a few pennies first, looking like I will have to go new suspension and/or tyres and hope that works. TY for the help

  11. Yeah kind of, the entrance is a communal driveway which goes slightly up then drops slightly and I catch it. Would rather not go down the route of expensive replacements if I can get away with for a few months as I've just spent out getting it put back to standard (yes I'm not normal) as any mods I do will be of my choice. A mate has suggested spacers but have only heard bad things about them.

  12. So I keep bottoming out when I drive onto my driveway, have tried reversing on and driving in at an angle still happens now and agin, anyone have any advice on raising the ride height and how it will effect things?

  13. Will also be looking for a pro-valet service (possibly a mobile one) as me and cleaning cars don't seem to work well, never get it looking perfect so am willing to pay someone to give it that extra little touch. The problem I have is that there is a river and lots of trees next to my house so after a week or so I get this green coating on my car and I always miss bits. Gonna search local ads when I get back from my trip but always looking for recommendations

  14. Currently working away in China so gave the keys to my local mechanic (he has owned/driven big engines cars). Left the keys with him last Wednesday, text him yesterday and he hasn't even picked it up from my house. Slightly annoyed as I return this Saturday and the plan was (depending on jet lag) get home shower and straight into the zed for a drive. If it's still not done I may just say forget it and pop across to longwell green and see if they can fit me in.
