  1. Hey Fellow 350z lovers,

I have rust building on my door hinges and was wondering what i need to do to get rid of it.

I'm looking for some people with experience doing this and what products are good to buy?

    Much appreciated,

  2. I used to use Dodo Supernatural hybrid on my R34, looked very glossy, I prefer sealants to waxes on silver, easier to get the flake to pop and give a different clarity, its not as easy to get Silver to look stunning

Also liked the look of Zaino z2 on my old Evo 6 for the same reasons

    That GTR is freaking sweet!

  3. Yeah I've had some huge difficulty looking for one let alone finding one in my budget range. But I was originally considering getting a 2005 FairLady model in pearl white. Considering the colour is so rare to find I'm opening up my options a bit.

Pearl white only came out for 2008 i believe so its not OEM color for a 2005

  4. Ideally, you should clay first as it'll add a little gloss itself and also give the best surface for any LSP to bond to however, on a Z in particular, you can inflict marring with clay (either bar or cloth/mitt) so unless you're planning on polishing or using a glaze I wouldn't bother, personally.

A wax isn't going to add a huge amount of gloss in itself - again, you'll want to polish to get the best gloss and then I'd recommend a coating like Gyeon CanCoat over a wax for maximum glossiness. That said FK1000P; whilst not strictly a wax, it will last a couple of months and being a sealant of sorts it'll add some gloss too. Plus is costs next to nothing for a lifetime supply, is easy to use and has a picture of a shark on the tin. What's not to like?!

And just to tie it into the first sentence, I wouldn't use FK with a glaze (the solvents in FK will remove the fillers from the glaze so it's just wasting product). If you choose to clay and then glaze rather than polish, I'd recommend Poorboys Black Hole/White Diamond (it actually doesn't matter which) followed by Poorboys Natty's Blue for cheap but fantastic results, or Auto Finesse Ultra Glaze followed by Auto Finesse Desire for not-at-all-cheap but fantastic results.

Thanks for your help. In order to polish don't i need a variable speed polisher? I've heard that ideally glazing should be done after a polish to even out imperfections for the wax, if i don't polish the car is it any use to glaze?

I think i'm inclined to use your recommendation of "clay and then glaze rather than polish - and then wax for protection" however got any cheaper but valuable recommendations for a wax? :D Auto Finesse Desire is damn expensive!

  5. Hi All,

New to the detailing game, so need some advice on wax & clay bar. I have a silver 350z and looking for a glossy finish that last couple months? Any products you guys recommend? Also, should i claybar the car before a wax?

    Thanks,

  6. Well me and my mates have gone to Cotswolds this weekend, we know the roads there pretty well. We usually go in my 350z, Wrx Sti, Gt86, Cayman S and a CBR600 just to make us look bad. We will probably be planning another run (usually around 100 miles trip on great B-Roads) so if you would like to join us, let me know and i will PM you with me details so we I can keep you posted of any future drives!

  7. Hello!

I'm planning to do a little amateur project (have to start somewhere!) to spray my emblems & 350z badge in anthracite to match my rims!

Asking for best practice here based on your experiences and also which anthracite plasti dip you'd recommend?

  8. I have the exact same thing, whine/whistling sound when starting the car in the morning and goes away after 10 minutes same as my notchy 2nd gear... no clue what the hell it is, ive read that it might be gearbox bearing, differential or even driveshaft and now here that the belts need tightening lol. People have even changed their gearboxes for this reason...

  9. I have the same thing. Heard its to do with the cruise control sensor on the clutch assembly Its not on the clutch arm but it is on a bracket in front of the clutch. Its a neutral switch which ties into the cruise. It makes a clicking sound when you first push the pedal to disengage.

Maybe someone without Cruise control could tell us if they also hear a click?
