  1. I had my front bumper resprayed, after a short drive after receiving the car, the pop up bonnet light was lit. This light has an icon of the car of what looks like the bonnet, but raised from the hinge. It is depicting that the actuators at the bonnet hinge have fired due to a front end collision.

I found a couple of guides to reset the light, and i made it work. The instructions are unclear hence i make this thread to help others.

    Reset pop up hood light

Firstly, you'll observe that the pop up hood light is animated like this on the gauge:

    • Ignition on - light is lit
    • Around 5 seconds later - light flashes
    • Couple of seconds later - light is lit and remains solidly lit

To reset the light, the overall dance is in the link.

In step 2, where it says the light "turns off", that means, switch the car off as soon as the light blinks off for the first time, be fast. The time for the first blink, was more like 5 seconds after turning the car to On for me, so do not follow the timings on the chart, follow the light and its status instead.

Turn on car - Light lit solid, blink off - turn off the car.

In step 5, where you must turn the engine off after 3 blinks of the light, do exactly that, again the time in seconds stated is more like 8-9 seconds, as soon as the light does this - light lit solid, blink off, blink on (1), blink off, blink on (2), blink off, blink on (3) - turn off the car.

Now repeat that again (2) and (5).

After this, when I turned on the car again, the light now goes solid lit, and then starts to blink slowly. Leave for some seconds, and turn off the car. Then turn on the car and the light will disappear!

Then turn off the car, and turn the engine like normal with clutch depressed, the light should be gone too.

When the guide (and I) says Turn On, it means just press the Start button twice, not full ignition.

  2. My oil temp gauge is reading 110c on a cold start, and after a short drive starts to read 140-150c. It also fluctuates 5c either way randomly regardless of driving style.

When I start the car, the gauges do the normal dance from min to max to min.

I am not getting any engine management light and it’s not going into limp mode as far as I can tell even at 150c reading.

Could the oil temp sensor be bad?

Where can I buy a replacement? I looked but some sites seem to confuse coolant temp sensor and oil temp - are they the same sensors?

Also, any help or guide in replacing it?

Well, after a year of fighting Nissan on this and having to go through the ombudsman, they have agreed to paint both doors under their 12 year anti corrosion warranty! :yahoo: Nissan sent a tech out to look at the car and straight away he said, yes, that's corrosion we'll get them both sorted for you.  It's also common on the GTR's too!

Get checking under those wing mirrors guys and girls!

Do you have a reference we can quote to Nissan? My paint is bubbling right where the mirror connects to the door. It’s a 2011 plate.

Looks smart but the tips don't look centered. Hope you are pleased, they are great exhausts.

They aren't centred, I'm aware. You'll only know if you look at it from within a foot.

Everytime we tightened the bolts at the midpipe it just went back into this position.

But it does if you swap the midpipe over, doesn’t it? It’s just that it can be fitted the wrong way round.

    For a 370, not a Nismo.

Yeah exactly, I'll get a picture from the rear so you guys can see the alignment now.

Ark really need a better instruction manual and better markings so it doesn't cause confusion on install.

Shame you didn’t read my post (look up Payco’s Nismo build) in build projects.Fitted it on my Nismo last year and welded an additional pipe sleeve to it to extend it past the rear diff and protrude further out from my bumper. I fed this back to the traders on here but still they sell them saying they are a straight fit which they certainly aren’t.

Looks like it completely doesn't fit the Nismo in your thread. But mine was not the Nismo.

  7. The guys at RT fit my Ark Grip exhaust on my 370Z. The fitment seemed very poor, with the tips shifted left and almost touching the bumper. And very close to the diff housing.

After a few drives it started to rattle when at clutch biting point and high RPM.

RT got the car back in and decided to swap the midpipes right to left.

Afterwards the tips now are symmetrically aligned, slightly inwards. And we have about 15mm clearance to the diff housing on the left midpipe.

Want to say thanks to RT and especially for fixing it for free.

Could be a hard one to answer as I was running stillen gen 3 intakes plus hfc's. Mine did burble on downshift etc, wasn't to Intrusive when driving around until you opened her up and sounded gorgeous and released that v6.

    Is your 370z standard?

If it is @Andy_Muxlow has just got one installed and could be in a better position to answer.

Yeah, my car is completely stock. I'm weighing up this and the Ark Grip. Stock is very quiet, just can hear engine noise right now.

  9. I just tried Admiral multi car (vectra, Astra, Ibiza and the 350z), it came to £1700 :/

I put the car in my name however. I shall try putting my parents on the car also.

  10. Because the number of 22 year olds who have crashed a 370z is low combined with probably a good postcode aswel as your NCB

I struggled to insure mine this year, despite being 25 and ownin it for over a year. Was unexpected thats for sure. Got it down to £450 modifications declared though so im happy

    With which company??

    I'm finding it impossible.

  11. I've tried so many places and I can't get anything below 2000£ :(

I'm 24, held a license for 6 years and 3 years NCB. It costs me 700£ for a 1.6 Seat Leon 08 reg with multi car....

Sky insurance: You are better off trying comparison sites - didn't even give me a value.

Adrian Flux: Didn't give me a value but said it's more than Admiral (2000£).

Elephant: Part of Admiral so same price.

    Bell: 2000£

It must be my post code (SL3) which scores a D. I think I just cannot buy one now.
