I had a similar thing with my last head unit. ( cheap chinese unit ) I had installed the reversing camera wrong. I put power to it twice, one up front in dash, and again at the rear by the camera. it was causing some of the power cables to melt! I removed the one in the dash and all was good. Mine is also an auto, which I had undersealed. That does give off a burning oilly smell in the car when bits of underseal drip or flick onto the hot sections.

hello folks, I have error codes p0031, p0051, p0057, p0037 which are Front heated oxygen sensor 1 bank 1, rear heated oxygen sensor bank 1 and 2. Is that an easy fix and can anyone tell me which ones to get and where from? Many thanks, much appreciated! ( my internet search is mind boggling)

hello, mine did a similar thing when the battery was knackered...the speedo was wildy spinning all the way round. It seemd to sort itself out when i got a new battery though. Is your battery new? Although I now have a "check engine light" on dash, which is common I hear. I need to " do the peddle dance" to clear it. ( and your top digital speedo is kms (like mine) as its probably an import.

Ok new battery installed and all is well again! Old battery had 10v and hardly any Amps. Thanks to Halfords 4 year garantee I got a shiny new battery for free.

thanks Rob, I will keep an eye on the alternator. would that mess up the speedo and odo do you think? I did over 20 miles sitting my drive this morning charging the battery!

hello, my Z has started to have a drain on the battery, being dead in a couple of days. And now after jumping it a few times over the past few weeks, the speedo is going crazy, and the odometer is increasing while i'm stationary , engine running! Any ideas? I am trying to find the drain on the battery with a volt meter, (probably aftermarket stereo) but not had any luck so far. can't see any blown fuses either. Its doing my pickle in!

hello mate, Have you tried to raise the beam of the headlights. I had a similar problem, couldn't see a thing at night that was 30 away from the car. adjusted the headlights with a small flathead screw driver , I can now see! there is a thread on this website on how to do it. ( if you can find anything on here, which I can't! ) there is a little wheel you need to turn on the side of the light. hope that helps

Hello, Has anyone had problems with pairing a new remote key fob? the sort you get off ebay 2 for a fiver? The problem I have is that when I do the sequence of key in and out six times, instead of hazards flashing, My car unlocks all round. So I never get the signal to press the key fob to pair them up. I have tried taking off the neg battery cable to reset ecu, but still no joy. Any ideas?

Hi Mate! i think you may be right as i have just the little motor out and all seems ok. and after it pops open, I now can't open it again by the tailgate switch/button or the internal pully. I have to wait a minute and press key fob to open and it will pop up again. Ruddy thing!

Thanks chaps, that was the first thing i checked, but it was firmly in at the back. as the unit ( a cheap unit from china ) is fairly new I hope it isnt that!

Hello folks, I installed a new head unit a while back and all seemed fine, until recently the fm radio dropped out....no signal at all. I am getting bored of the same cd's!! I have looked for a faulty fuse but can't see one??? Any ideas chaps???

Hi folks, My boot has just started to pop open when I open the car with the factory key. (no other fob) Then I have to pull the inside boot opener to clear the lock so i can shut the door. its well annoying! I have tried negative off the battery for 15 mins, but boot popped open as soon as i put it back on. I tried looking on the forum first but cant find anything. This happen to anyone else??? thanks.

hello, did you ever get this sorted? a similar thing recently happened to me. I put in a new head unit, all was fine until the radio stopped tuning in...no signal at all. I've checked the fuses and all seems ok, and the ariel hasn't fallen out at the back either! Its a ruddy mistery! JP

Hello, I have a similar problem, I have just spent the weekend doing busters mod...or as near as I could to my cheap chinese double din,dvd,gps, camera ( ebay 90 bucks!) I went from no sound, to realising the amp wire wasn't connected to any power,(after sending 12v to it) to then as above ,volume..1 loud...2...well loud...3 defening....etc and a horrible hissing buzzing in the back ground. I have tried earthing the amp direct to chassis, and any thing on the back of the stereo that looks like it wanted earthing I connected up to a new ground screw straight in the chassis, but still got the problem. Anyone got any ideas???? Its driving nuts...I'm new to stereo's by the way, so lets keep this simple!
