  1. Just tell them what you are willing to spend minus around £500-£1000 that way you are in right ball park but gives you a valid reason to try and get a discount.

Dealers will always try and get the most they can off you but if you decide on a car and explain that you just cant afford it but if they knock a bit off they will have a deal you will usually end up meeting somewhere in the middle.

Same with part ex. Never accept their first offer. If you barter a little you can usually get a fee hundred quid more off them. Always see what the trade in value is on parkers whatcar or other and use this to negotiate

Of course it all depends on what car you are buying. How desirable it is and how rare it is

  2. Ricey. You obviously are an honerable gent or you would be championing the cover in your local area and cashing in on the work later. Thats put me off a cover. I had a very similar problem with bird poo on my previous black car. I thought a damp sponge would remove it so a few swirls later i had scratches everywhere due to the grit in it. That was a harsh lesson learned in my younger days. Black cars seem to show it up twice as bad

  3. Yeah Mike. Its a lot of dosh so dont want to buy a money pit. The midnight blue pic i posted is my favourite currently on sale but just too much money as it stands. I asked if they would do a quick cash sale but because its only been on for a week they want the full asking price. I have to wait and keep searching. I offered £9.7k which was flatly refused. Its not like i would use it anyway till spring. Would just be sat in garage. Regardless of that it wont stop me buying a "gem" if one pops up

  4. Sorry jetpilot. Didnt mean to come accross rude. Its just people said wont get the look i am after but i never gave a look. Your forsale wheels look good. I think i have made my mind up if i stick to 8.5 front 9.5 rear but go with a lesser offset say 15/20 that will push the wheels out quite nice whist still allowing me to lower 25/30mm to gain a quality overall look and performance

Need to work out tyre profiles now though as might not get away with a 40 height

Just checked my BMW that runs on 225/40/R18 front and 255/35/R18 rears it also has the m-sport lowered suspension and that works fine as well as offering great grip. Not dure what width the wheels are

  5. Have already been in touch. If it was any other colour i would have seriously considered as the overall car is well worth the money but silver ones do nothing for me. I know that they are the most abundant option but i just prefer every other colour even the gunmetal. Sorry jim

  6. Realy want the bronze ones after seeing some pics on here. Hopefully i can get a black/dark blue/orange Z for them to go with.

I realy dont want to mess with arches so if the widths above risk that may have to go for your setup of 8.5 front 9.5 rear

  7. sorry to add yet another thread on sizes but I have not got a Z yet so am drawing up my wishlist of what I want when I get one, I have my heart set on the popular Volk TE37s even though they will set me back a small fortune. So thanks to willtheyfit.com (this site if it hasn't been recommended before and I am allowed to state it is superb for working out tyre/wheels combos and even gives you a before & after diagram)

So if I stick with 18" rims but go 9.5 ET22 on front and 10.5 ET15 on rear I need 255/40 and 275/40 tyres respectively.

This means the front tyres/wheels will be +11mm inner and +27mm outer

The rear tyres/wheels will be +7mm inner and +43mm outer

Will this look ok and not cause any issues with inside suspension or arches etc.

Also would I be able to lower by 25-30mm without causing any issues.

Good news is that the MPSS tyres recommended on here are available in the tyre size above although one size is MPSS XL not sure what the XL refers to.

  8. I honestly think there is no set formula and insurance companies raise or lower quotes based on how many pokicies they have sold or how many of a certain age band / gender have had an accident recently. They all have a book of 1000 excuses to put your premium up. When i moved out of living with my parents in is what a pretty rough area and bought a house with my wife in a new estate and better area with the added maturity of owning a house and getting married i thought like many would. Hey my premium should come down a bit. No no no they told me because the new area had much more expensive cars on the driveways if one got stolen they would have to pay a lot more out and as a result they charge higher premiums!

Needless to say i shopped around and got it £100 cheaper. The message is you very rarely get any favours for being loyal so always shop around and just think because adding a certain family member on with one company puts it up or down all insurance companies will be the same because they aren,t

  9. Hi everyone. I dont own a Z yet but have got my heart set on one and joined forum a couple of weeks ago to help me search and advice.

I am looking for a HR model 2007 on thats been well looked after with lowish milage.

The reason for this post is that i am planning to change wheels, tyres, brakes, suspension and exhaust later in year so anyone thinking of selling at the moment might be reluctant as there Z may need 4 new tyres or new brakes etc... And they may be thinking they are gonna have to fork out a grand before they can put it up for sale.

What i am saying is as long as the bodywork is near perfect and the engine is strong and maintained well i would consider as the wear and tear parts so to speak i would change to my personal preference anyway.

My budget is 9k. I am not in a rush to buy as i wont use it till spring anyway and with the weather we are having in yorkshire lately i may be best buying a motorboat at present but just thought i would put this out there if anybody is in the situation above.

  10. Thats the dilema i am faced with. Want to but a HR model for my budget of 9k. All the trade ones are 11-12k in top condition but i know a private sale would be around my mark for same car so do i say what the hell and waste another 2k or wait patiently

  11. Anybody put these on a 350z or have pics. On lookout for 1st zed and trying to piece together what i would change/upgrade. Realy like these but no idea if they would suit, cheers

  12. Right, here is one that's come up on Autotrader, could do with any advice from the regulars:

don't know if that link will work but its on currently with 42k on clock and service history

passed through every mot with no advisories except last one with below:

Nearside Front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)

Offside Front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)

I realy like the colour, I like the white leather, it is over my original 9k budget but as stated I don’t mind putting some on credit card for the right vehicle, so my question is, does it seem a good buy? How much would the suspension arm bushes cost to replace? What is its real value/price or is it worth waiting patiently for others.

  13. Will do when i purchase one. I have found a thread stating £600 for standard with hide+seat so will work on assumption £600 to £1000. Like you say though if spending the time and money re-doing might as well have something bespoke

  14. Apologies if this has been asked before

I am on lookout for buying my first zed but have noticed that almost all seem to have drivers seats where the previous owners must have been a bull wearing a sandpaper coat. I take it this is a common problem due to bolster pos and leather used?

Even very low milage cars seem to suffer so my question is what is the average price to re-pad and re-leather a pair of seats and does anyone know firms on here that do it so i can factor this into price of purchase if they have seen better days

  15. Hi everyone

I am thirty something from rainy Yorkshire

Looking to buy my first 350z like many on here. I have already looked at the various posts and advice on here which is a massive help.

My budget is 9k but could poss stretch onto credit card for right car. Looking idealy for HR model well looked after.

My plan is to upgrade the brakes to some good looking grooved discs and uprated pads. Add on a cat back stainles performance exhaust and some lowering springs or poss new suspension setup. Then finally refurb and repaint wheels or poss new set. Unless of course some of this has already been done. Not a massive transformation but quality subtle upgrades.

After reading on here can easily see me paying a visit and paying a few thousand to couger store.

So hopefully will have one for spring when i can get some use. It will be a second car kept garaged which is why i need a clean example as i wont put many miles on and will hopefully have it for many years. Who knows poss a future much sought after car that starts appreciating in value?

Anyway. Sorry for droning on. If anyone knows someone selling and it genuinely is a great buy please let me know or pass on my interest. Looking forward to getting involved here
