  1. Hi, Thanks for the response. Yep, I'm certain as I made marks on the nut for the steering wheel for alignment and I also ensured that the Steering Wheel Alignment Mark lined up with the column alignment mark for center.
  2. Hi All, I recently had my OEM Clockspring Fail and render my Steering Wheel Controls (Volume/Cruise/Horn) fail, which produced an airbag light. Foolishly I replaced my Clockspring with a cheaper than oem Ebay replacement, as I could not source a genuine Nissan Clockspring. After replacing the Clockspring I started experiencing VDC/Traction control issues, the Traction control would kick in intermittently when turning the wheel from left to right. I figured out that it was the Wheel Angle Sensor. Predictably, the cheap replacement Clockspring part failed altogether shortly afterwards. I downloaded OBD Software (Nissan Datascan) to attempt to reset the steering angle sensor to 12 o'clock as I figured that when swapping the clockspring out, even with my best attempts to keep the wheel as straight as possible it may have cocked slightly either way whilst removing the steering wheel. I ran a reset which cleared the traction control issues. I received a replacement clockspring yesterday and fitted this, ensuring the wheel was kept straight and all connections were carried over before reassembling. I also ran a reset on the wheel angle sensor after installation to be cautious and cleared any fault codes. However I am still getting intermittent traction control intervention, nowhere near as bad as initially but enough to nearly cause me to lose control of the car, before eventaully the traction control and slip light are permanately switched on until the car is restarted. I have pulled the below codes out of the ABS/ECU Units using my OBD Software C1145 - YAW RATE SENSOR C1143 - STG ANG SEN CIRCUIT I am getting quite frustrated, therefore last night out of desperation I have ordered a genuine Nissan 350z Clockspring/Squib Assembly including another wheel angle sensor from Ebay (these have been taken from a 2005 350z and are known working parts) and I will swap these out when I receive these in the next couple of days to try these. My question is, how does the steering angle sensor take it's readings? Does it sense the position of the clockspring or does it independently get it's readings of the steering wheel position via another method? The reason I ask is because before replacing the Clockspring I had no issues whatsoever with VDC/Traction Control or the Wheel Angle Sensor, so I wondered if the cheap Ebay Clocksprings are giving erratic readings to the Wheel Angle Sensor. I also ran a OBD Data Logging test. I recorded the Values of the Engine RPM (To Ensure my test was valid) alongside the Steering Angle Sensor Values. Whilst turning the wheel from lock to lock twice, The steering angle sensor value stayed on 0, whilst I got true live data from the Engine RPM. Again I did not have this issue before replacing the Failed Clockspring so my thoughts are that how can the Wheel Angle Sensor Circuit/Sensor be faulty along with the yaw rate sensor? Any thoughts on this are much appreciated, otherwise it's off to Nissan. Thanks Ash
  3. Thank you both really appreciate it! Did have a look but couldn't find much, I'll look harder. Cheers Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
  4. Hi all, Anyone recommend some replacement brake discs and pads? Preferably tried and tested performance orientated set but value for money would be a plus as well Seen plenty of cheap Ebay knockoff sets but don't trust the quality. Cheers Ash Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, is it not possible to diagnose a faulty dampener without replacement? The first dampener shows no vibration, the second one does. Is this normal? It's a bit of a weird noise to describe, definitely a tapping/clackety noise from the top of the engine near the plenum but towards the middle. Happens with clutch in or out so not drivetrain related.
  6. Hi All, First up any assistance or suggestions is much appreciated! I have a 2007 VQ35DE Rev-up Edition Engine. The car has a full service history and is currently on 68,000 miles, bought it on 55K. Since owning the car in May I have checked the oil every 500 miles (using the second trip computer to measure) and I have monitored usage and topped up if needed. It does not seem to be using excessive oil, and I don't drive the car hard everywhere. It's daily driven and I always try to warm it up/warm it down every day. In my ownership the oil has never been ran low. I recently had a full service, all fluids/filters/plugs around 2000-3000 miles ago with no issues. The oil used was 5w-30 part synth, a good friend of mine owns the garage so they are trustworthy. In the last 1000 miles or so, the car has developed a strange ticking noise coming from the top of the engine, when fully warm and cold. I can upload a video if it helps. Sometimes it's louder than usual, and sometimes it's quiet. Seems to get quieter after 2500rpms. Noise still present under engine load. Oil Pressure guage indicates normal pressure. Outside temperature doesn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions appreciated. I have had the bonnet up with the car idling and felt each fuel damper, only one of them seems to have a vibration (rear right of engine) and even then I couldn't be sure it was in time with the ticking noise. Any help appreciated. Is it worth me changing the oil? Cheers
  7. Hi All, Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself, My name is Ashley and I live in Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. I've been an owner of a 2007 Rev-up (VQ35-DE) Black 350z coupe since May this year and loving it so far. No mods as of yet, she's pretty standard. She does have a Invidia cat back system and I'm looking at a plenum spacer kit shortly, along with a new clutch/flywheel setup. I will try and be as active as I can on here and give as much input/advice as I can, I don't come from a mechanic/garage background but I am fairly knowledgeable. Thanks in advance for any assistance or help from the club and I look forward to being a part of this community. I've attached a few pictures of my Z but I'm sure it's nothing you haven't seen before! :-) Cheers Ash
