Lip fitted, love it.

I'm kinda partial to extension/add-on style spoilers but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of these available in the UK.
This one from maxtondesign looks interesting. Not sure I'm keen on the badge, anyone know if it comes affixed out the box? Are there any other options easily shippable to the UK?

Went to look at a pearl white GT edition this morning, very nice but a few things put me off.
1. The paint match between plastics and metal was quite poor, especially on the front bumper, is this normal? The front bumper had what appeared to be overspray on the black insert, but no visible signs of damage looking down behind the bumper.
2. It seems like it was registered to a dealer initially, ex-demo?
Thanks chaps

That's what I thought. It's only a single cable directly under the handbrake, but splits into two, right?
-
Yeah, I don't trust it!I'd make sure to leave it in gear anyway just in case (if you aren't already).
-
Pulled up the handbrake as normal, loud snap from underneath the handbrake... but it still ratchets and engages as normal. Any ideas?

I'm almost certain now that the noise is gone by the time you drop down to ~25psi (i.e hotter than normal sedate driving), at least from the cabin.
-
Quick observation, something I've noticed on my 20min drive to work each morning
1. Start the car cold, 85psi oil pressure, no audible tapping from the cabin
2. Car gets up to temp in traffic, 32psi and the tapping can be heard from the cabin
3. Some high revs later and pull into work, 25psi, tapping can no longer be heard from the cabin

Maybe i'm just old school,
Listen through an extra long screwdriver, and narrow the search area down, you should also be able to tell if the noise is knocking metalic
The garage have narrowed it down around the first cylinder on the passenger bank with a stethoscope for me but that doesn't seem to be enough to diagnose it.

Was at a tuning shop recently because my engine has a similar tick / rattle but not that pronounced. The guys at the shop swore completely that the engines were strong and I shouldn't worry
He suggested that its more than possible its injector tick. Have you any update to this?
From my somewhat lengthy Internet trawling, all ticking/tapping VQs are usually one of;
Fuel Dampers (I have some known good ones for sale that didn't help me)
Valve clearances or other valvetrain damage
Timing chain tensioner
VVT solenoids
Flywheel

Following. Mine sounds like this after a real good run. Tuning shop recently hqd it was fine as they are noisy engines, but they did suggest injector tick
I'm getting absolutely nowhere with it and almost everything has been examined. I'm told the engine is in excellent condition and the symptoms/inspections don't point to any major internal damage, but we can't find the source of the noise. The only remaining things to check are the VVT solenoids.
I'm not sure I can tolerate the uncertainty over the condition of the engine/car personally.
-
Timing chain tensioner looks fine. Running out of ideas.
-
At a real loss with this. Car is being looked at but no one can find the issue. It took quite a while to replicate it, sounds normal most of the time.
Only happens when hot, but not always.
Can restart the engine and the noise is gone
Noise sounds to be coming from the front cylinder (check with stethoscope)
Plugs checked
Cylinders checked with borescope
Conrod bearing seems ok
No fault codes
Disabling injector on cylinders in turn on passenger bank, noise doesn't stop
No damage to camshaft or valve followers
Valve clearances are perfect
Clutch in doesn't change the noise but loading up the engine against the handbrake makes the noise dissipate
Flywheel looks ok
Fuel Damper changed
Timing chain tensioner is going to be checked next.

The engines always do make a fair bit of noise, is there another 350z owner in your area? If not go and look at a couple of 350z's on garage forecourts and see what they sound like.
Yeah, the garage that looked at it had the stethescope on it and said it was definitely internal, camshaft area, passenger bank.
-
Fuel Damper hasn't cured the tapping. Gutted. No idea what to do with it next.
-
Surely it's worth getting that changed first with a good one from ZMANALEX rather than having your pants pulled down at Nissan?
Yeah, I think you might be right.
-
Yeah, I think I've read every damn topic re. tapping zeds. Thanks though.
If it's major valve issues I'm going to cry. The car gets absolutely babied and top quality oil every 5k/levels checked with obsessive regularity (it doesn't use a drop).
-
Devon. I don't think I have much choice sadly.Don't take it to Nissan they will have your pants down, go to a specialist on here. Where abouts are you located?
-
Thanks for the help. Car is on ~60K. Will take it to Nissan tomorrow, fearing the worst
-
It's a stock intake.
Clicking noise is definitely from around the Fuel Damper, which I believe is this thing?
More worringly, there's a knocking which is loudest around the front, rightmost tensioner.
-
I'm on my own at the moment so it's kinda difficult to blip and listen but it's very obviously from around the back of the engine. The PSSHT isn't normal induction noise for a Zed I take it?Could be a dicky gasket then, but unlijely and wouldn't think you'd hear from above the engine bay. Are you able to pinpoint the source?
-
Sounds like an air leak to me. Have tou had any work done or had the plenum off? Pass some tissue around seals near the sound to see if catches any escaping air.
Cat-back exhaust fitted fairly recently.

A strip of 3M tape on the underside. I feel the same way, any mods need to be reversible.
