  1. Nice pics! Is it me or is your rear plate slightly on the wonk? Maybe just my eyes 😱
  2. Here's a short clip from some GoPro footage I took. It's stuck onto the spoiler so apologies for the wind noise. I'll experiment more over the next month or so and upload some more footage. Let me know what you think. http://s141.photobuc...html?sort=3&o=0
  3. Bundus. Did you just put the underlay between the boot carpet and resess for the Bose sub? I agree with you on being able to drive slower and enjoy the noise. I found myself booting it when it was standard just to get some sound. The downshift noise is brilliant. Probably my favourite part of the sound after the overrun burbles.
  4. I like your thinking Brillomaster. I shouldn't have to remind myself that it's not some chavved up 1.4 POS.
  5. It's quite a raw sound at the moment. I like the noise, I think I'm just a little conscious about whether it's 'boy racer' instead of purposeful sports car.
  6. Sorry, will post vid tonight.
  7. I'd mentioned in a couple of posts that my car came with a brand new set of short tails, boxed up and I can now say I have had them fitted. First of all the job of getting the OEM rear box off and the new pipes on took 1hr at a local garage and cost me the equivalent in labour. The pipes look good when fitted and the end sections fit quite nicely into the bumper. I think the trims are slightly smaller than OEM and are actually round where the OEMs are slightly oval. I'll cut straight to the chase and explain that these pipes are loud. I'm still getting used to them and trying to judge how loud they are; I'll explain a little bit more. On cold start up the throttle blips up and settles at 1500rpm. If you live in a quiet cul-de-sac this is going to annoy your neighbours. However once it settles (to 600rpm (you can actually do this by giving the throttle a small blip) the exhaust gives off a nice steady burble. On part throttle the exhaust is relatively docile. It's still noisier than an aftermarket exhaust with a rear back box but this exhaust has got me thinking as to whether I'd be a bit miffed if I'd have spent £1200 on a Milltek non-resonated to find that it's still quite tame. I'm only speculating as I'd have to experience one first hand to have a real opinion. On full throttle it's a screamer though and you really get a feel for that V6. Downshifts are now a joy and theres gurgles and pops on the overrun. The noise frominside the cabin is a little intrusive at times. For example, on full throttle there's a frequency though about 4000rpm that vibrates the boot lid momentarily and that's quite uncomfortable. As we know sound deadining isn't great on the 370 so you hear quite abit from inside but I ran the car up to motorway speeds this week and it's not intrusive at all, no drone like you'd get from a true straight through exhaust. In fact, the exhaust is loudest through 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears as you migth expect. Run it higher than this and I'd say it's quite acceptable. The jury is still out on whether it's 'too loud' as I only have the standard set up to compare to and many many videos I've watched on the net. I have a feeling it's on par with a Jag F-type V6 S with the valves open, if you've ever heard one of those. I'll post the video in a min when I've worked out how and I'll try to get more posted in the near future when I've had a proper play with my GoPro. In the mean time let me know if you have any questions. This exhaust is staying for now but will certainly be for sale when I come to exchange my 370Z for something else in 2016.
  8. Hi, can anyone recommend a specialist in Berkshire or Oxfordshire for servicing and MOT? Or have you any experience with Nissan in Reading or Oxford. Thanks T
  9. Hi, is anyone still running these? If you haven't seen in one of my recent posts, I have a pair of Cybox short tails but seeing lots of mixed reviews. I know I can always get them taken off but I don't necessarily have the time to put the car in a garage.
  10. Also saw a white one on A339 heading into Newbury at 7pm on 17th on the new crappy surface they've laid down followed by a yellow one heading north. They must be common as muck these days 😄
  11. ... being chased down by an orange Exige on the A4 about 7.15am. I didn't flash as I'm not in my 370 today.
  12. I'm glad I found this thread. I've got some brand new ones sitting at home and have seen your video online before I joined the forum. I'm very tempted to have them fitted (the previous owner never got round to fitting them) but wary of how loud they might be as I don't want my neighbours to resent me or the car.
  13. Can't question the quality of the Akro', but from what I've read the back box system isn't much louder than stock. You could consider a good value full system such as the Invidia Gemini. Then if you keep the stock system you can swap it back when you sell the car. There are usually plenty of buyers on here for an after-market system in good condition. Re the Akro': I know the quality will be spot on and they look great (especially with the carbon tips) but I'm not sure it brings out the absolute best in the exhaust note. Having said that, I haven't heard one in action first hand yet, only from some YouTube surfing. I'll do some more research and then see what takes my fancy... watch this space...
  14. Thanks for that 'McGee. I doubt I'd remove the cats anyway as I really don't want a crazy noise. The loudest I'd want is a bit like the F-type V6 if you've ever heard that - great noise but not boy racer loud. So you've got no cats and a short tails at the moment or a different set up?
  15. Drove mine in the rain on Friday for the first time. I know what you mean about noise, the rain sounded more like hail! Car handled well under power though even with the well worn Bridgestones I replaced today.
  16. Thanks guys. I wrote this fairly quickly on my phone earlier today. I've got some reservations about the Cybox too but from what I've seen on YouTube I'm not sure which back box system I'd go for. Akrapovic is desirable because of the name but I'm not sure it's worth the premium... I'm not aiming to get a full system at the moment as this car might not be a long termer.
  17. Hello. I'm sure there's been plenty of threads like this before but thought I'd share my thoughts of my 370z after a week of ownership. First of all, here's some pics after a wash and a layer of Dodo Juice wax. I've had the car a week now and I have to say that I am really pleased with it. To start with I have to comment on the looks; it looks fantastic. Pictures don't do the proportions justice. It's so squat and muscular and in my opinion has and will age better than the 350z. Although I do feel that well kept 350s may start to look a bit of a modern classic much like the original TT. It's quite an iconic shape. I love my satin black rims as well, they really set the car off and so far have been the main talking point with admirers. Other plus points include the interior which has exceeded my expectations. Again, pictures don't do it justice as it is a nice place to be and professional write ups give the materials a bad wrap. The ergonmics are good though and almos on par with my outgoing Scirocco. The controls aren't too fussy and I managed to figure out the user interface reasonably quickly. The GT version is so well kitted out. I love the Bose sound system which does sound premium over what I've had in the past and the interface isn't bad to use via the steering wheel. The Satnav is great and I do like he detail it provides you with although already on a couple of occassions I'd question whether it provided the best route. My friend who owns a GTR also said he has often questioned the Satnav too but that said, you can edit the route. I like the various options you have for information to display on the touch screen (which is a decent touch screen) and the option for traffic info is really neat. My car has a reverse parking camera which is taking some getting used to as for years I've managed with the mirrors but it is a great feature and I'd recommend it to anyone. Sure, you can do without it but it's very useful, does away with the annoying beeps of 'div sensors' and it's also kind of cool! I haven't tried the full setting on the heated seats so I'll get back to you in October on that one. Likewise with the Xenons as I haven't driven the car in the dark. It's my first time with Xenons so I'm hoping they live up to my expectations. The headlights on my Scirocco were quite weak on dipped beam so I'm hoping to notice a real difference. The downside to the equipment is the trip computer, whilst it displays enough information I don't like the lack of a button on the stalks and for me the buttons on the instruments are hidden by the steering wheel. Not a major flaw though. Having electric seats is really nice too, the seats have great adjustability . It's taken me a little while to get the driving position right but I think I've nailed it now with the only downside seeming to be a little too much lumbar support for my liking. Initially I thought the lack of reach adjustment on the wheel would bother me but it seems absolutely fine, so far I've not felt like I've wanted this feature at all. Now to the interesting part; driving the thing. First impressions when driving it away as my very own 370z were "christ, the steering is under assisted!". I still feel it's a little heavy and can be uncomfortable on the motorway as smaller adjustments just need slightly more input than my previous car. I'm getting used to the feel on twisty roads as it gives the impression of hustling the vehicle around bends. The car itself, to me anyway, doesn't feel too heavy on bends. I think the suspension is well sorted albeit for a some discomfort on particularly unkept roads. My Scirocco had Dynamic Chassis Control and I do miss the ability to swap suspension settings and the suppleness available from that car. My friends GTR is much smoother ride too although perhaps not as engaging and feels more of a GT. I think that's a key point actually, on second thoughts maybe the suspension on the Z make it feel more of a sports car than GT. I'm impressed with the engin so far which feels really strong, in fact the whole car feels solid and there's even a slightly agricultural feel to the gear shift, especially when up shifting. Downshifting is a dream though and my car stays in 'S-mode' which is such a clever system. I know for a fact too that the 370z has been used as a benchmark as far as rev matching systems are concerned because it works so well. I do like the mechanical noise of the clutch and flywheel, it's reminiscent of the 997 GT3 and is apparently a characteristic of a dual mass flywheel. The car nerd in me loves that even if I did find it a little unsettling at first (maybe for an hour or so... At most). Road noise on some surfaces is awful, I have to say but it's bareable and the stereo soon drowns this out. The engine and exhaust do sound OK although the latter lacks some sparkle on the overrun and is exactly why I'm going to for the Cybox short tails that are currently boxed up at home. Finally, boot space... it's ok... who cares!? It's a two seater with enough space for a couple of medium suitcases which is about all you need from this type of car (I hope).
  18. Ah well I'm sure the road noise in the cabin will do well to drown that out! 😄
  19. Got a local garage that will fit it I reckon. I've read about people having problems with un-bolting the OEM back box but wouldn't have thought it'll take long. I'll keep you posted
  20. A couple of people have said the same about keeping standard cats and middle resonator in so hopefully it'll be OK. I might as well give it a go! I'll get some decent footage on a GoPro when it's fitted, hopefully over the next week or so.
  21. Brillomaster, it's that exact system! So not a full on straight through (I.e. decat). Videos on the net of the Cybox don't sound too bad. I just would like a little more drama on the exhaust sound, especially on overrun but not something that will get me an ASBO.
  22. Hello. Does anyone have experience of running their 370 with a no back box system? My car came with a brand new system that's still in the box but I'm apprehensive about fitting it incase it's stupidly loud.
  23. Cheers for the messages! I'll post some pics at the weekend when I've had a chance to take some good ones.
  24. Hi All, Just picked up my Twilight Grey 370z GT at the weekend. Hope to enjoy getting some use out of this forum and looking forward to speaking with some of you. Cheers Tremayne
