  1. Looks like a decent lathe for a home workshop, are you an engineer or self trained

Been playing with all things mechanical since I could walk

Apprenticed as a mechanic then switched to electronics - have a b.tech in that now work in IT - this is my hobby and mostly self taught :)

It's great fun been playing all night - went out and bought some more bits for it today

Always nice to have new tools to play with haha

mite I suggest you invest in a collet chuck for it, would be a good investment if your going to be turning bolts alot as it won't damage the threads when you hold them like a 3 jaw chuck can

  2. I'm a toolmaker, work in a metal pressing company who make bits for cars. Tooling is fairly large up to 30 ton in weight

Guess you're not shifting those things around by hand then! :scare::lol:

Done some tool making myself about 15 years ago now. Worked for a company making an "anyway up" child's drinking cup and potty's so the tooling was a lot smaller & more manageable by hand. ;)

Haha no everything is moved on gantry cranes or theres a couple of 30 ton die loaders there heres a pic of a tool boit 16 ton with my tool box
