  1. Thanks guys. I managed to get the others done today although it decided to rain all morning and blow a gale this afternoon. Just got to wait a week now before I can laquer them. That looks good 14N I suprised how easy it is to do although it's all in the prepping as to how good they turn out. Always wanted to drive a clio 182 I've heard they are a lot of fun. Wacky will I think you will be waiting a while for some nice weather in Great Britain although i look out the window at work and the sun is shining the birds are tweeting so I think to myself I'm going do some work on the zed the weekend. Come Saturday morning gale force winds and torrential rain. I had a nice set of refurbed RS8 alloys on my old mk4 golf they really suited the car. Materials I used were from a local paint suppliers but you can use any silver wheel paint and grey primer although I have read that halfords alloy wheel silver paint dries quite dark. I also used an aluminium filler which was from halfords called metalik it's silver and I comes with a hardener so it's dry in 5 minutes. Next job on the list is carbon wrap the window switches and look for a new head unit and the dreaded MOT is due.
  2. Hey all Now I have been desperate to get my alloys refurbed ever since I bought the zed as they were badly curbed and one of my pet hates is curbed wheels. but at the moment I'm helping out the Mrs with buying a car so funds are bit tight so I thought I would have a go at doing the wheels myself. So here goes. First pic is what they looked like with some bad curbing around the edge the front ones are the worst. So with the wheel off the car I started to rub down the badly curbed bits with some coarse (100) sand paper until all the rough edges were smooth then I used some quick drying aluminium filler to fill all the deep curbing then used some fine sandpaper (600) to rub down the filler and take any notches and blemishes off. Once was filled and rubbed down I began with the coat of grey primer this is where you can really see how well you've preped it. Then I began with the silver coat building it up with light dust coats. Then the final result with wheel back on the car as the sun started to go down the laquer is yet to go on as they need to be left about a week before laquering as it will pickle if the paint is not dry properly. This was only one wheel that I managed to do today as car hunting for the Mrs took priority but I will be doing the others tomorrow. All in all I'm very pleased with the result it was a lot easier than I thought as long as you are capable of taking a wheel of your car then I think anyone can do this really I paid £59 for two tins of rapid primer, two wheel silver, two tins of laquer a tub of aluminium filler 8 sheets of different grade sandpaper. One wheel took me about 2.5 hours so probably a whole day for all 4. Will post pics of the materials used tommorow. If anybody's thinking of doing this themselves and has any questions just ask.
  3. Well the standard material doesn't seem to last very long anyway but that looks really good for a spray can job I'm definately going to be having a go at this so I'm assuming you just rubbed down all the trim with sandpaper to smooth it over then primed it, then gave it 3 or 4 coats of black spray paint and then 1 or 2 coats of laquer. Ash
  4. did you just use regular black spray paint and spray laquer?
  5. looks really good mattle what paint did you use and where did you get it from as im really considering doing this Thanks Ash
  6. I think the zed is a bit quicker than the r32, 0-60 is around 6.5 seconds and the zed is 5.7 not that this makes any difference on the roads and I've read people getting 12mpg urban where as I get around 21ish mpg so I think the zed is slightly better but not by much. Although I've never driven an r32 so I'm only going by what I've read.
  7. Could get a nice mk5 golf r32 for just under 10k now, not the fastest but God they sound good and will definately hold their money as they are becoming more rare I've Always fancied one myself but think they are slightly underpowered and and terrible fuel economy.
  8. Agree with zedd definately an exhaust the standard one is to quiet for a v6 engine. I got a scorpion and love it subtle but nice. Also a weighted gear knob makes changing gear nicer due to the short shift.
  9. Hey guys So I've just carbon wrapped the front lip under the grill in 3m carbon vinyl quite pleased with it although it was quite fiddly to get right. Now I'm looking to remove the number plate plynth but not sure what to use to stick the plate back on as I dont really want to screw into the bumper. can anyone recommend something to stick it back on without it falling off or so that if I decide to get private plates later it won't rip the paint of the bumper. Thanks Ash
  10. Some great cheap mods here guys I like the wiper delete and boot weight idea also wrapping the front lip in carbon and remove the front number plate. I'm probably only one of the very few who actually uses the Zeds boot for golf clubs although the boot dividers do looks nice. I actually said to my mrs when I got this car I'm going to keep it completely standard but I might just get the wheels refurbed and a new head unit and a new gear knob and oh no I've contracted zeditus. Lol

  13. Hi guys thanks for the feedback i have a 350 not a great avatar pic at moment I know. I have already done the stubby ariel also got a weighted gear knob from ebay d1 spec for £20 actually very nice for the money. I will definately be buying some mats seen some nice ones on eBay for £35 with Z badges also will be getting some Z badges from tarmac and have also just bought some carbon wrap like the idea for the window switch handles and have seen a few pics of the front lip below the grille wrapped in carbon which looks quite nice aswell. Do the aftermarket panel filters make much difference as I have a panel filter that came with the car. Ash
  14. Thanks durk I actually have done the stubby ariel that was the first thing I changed when I got home after picking the car up and cleaning it. Grundy Fuel isn't really an issue as I only work 5 minutes from home and I fill her up whenever she needs it. I'm quite suprised in how good it is on fuel for the size of the engine. My previous car was a civic ep3 type r (not a fan of the vtec) and there isnt really much difference in fuel consumption between the two considering the the civic is only 2ltr and the zed is 3.5
  15. Some lovely pics there chan and a nice looking zed.
