I'm looking at a Zed on Sunday and wondered if anyone has had experience purchasing a car in a private sale under the new laws.

Am I right in thinking if the car looks good I should first take out an insurance policy, perhaps online.

Then send the money / do the paperwork.

Then apply for a tax disc online.

And only after this can I drive the car away. I'm also having to take out a days temp cover for the test drive, smh.

Also on this, what is the general consensus with asking for money off the car as the current owner would receive a tax rebate of this value?

New tax laws are incredibly frustrating, it was only today mentioned to me that the tax is lost on a vehicle as soon as sold so I'll have to both tax and insure it before being able to drive home. Anyone had any experience with this?

The car is Sommerset way, not far from Weston. I've talked the old man into a road trip on Sunday now anyway but if anyone who lives down that way was interested in accompanying that would be cool

I've wanted a 350Z for as long as I can remember and finally have enough to get one soon. The only problem is I've never actually been in one and think it may be beneficial to do so before test driving some myself to get a feel for what the car should be like.

I was wondering if there was anyone in the Birmingham area willing to take me for a spin / give me any buying and maintenence tips if I give you some petrol money?

I know this may be an odd request but I don't personally know anyone with a Z.
