  1. Thanks for that I kinda did a lot of research and then got side tracked by summat shiney (probably) and never actually ended up getting a replacement spring sorted!! However, def still on the to do list so huge thanks for the link mate Cheers J.
  2. so.. I removed mine this eve and it without a doubt transforms the clutch feel!!! So much nicer to drive actually being able to feel what the pressure plate is doing but Have been reading the US forums and have seen a lot of the guys over there have been replacing the clutch helper springs for something lighter to give a better pedal feel. And it got me thinking, has anyone over this side of the pond actually replaced the spring for a lighter unit? Been doing a bit of google work this eve and I have to say, its not overly simple when it comes to finding the correct spring!!! If my maths is correct (may not be!) we would need something along the following lines... Outside Diameter - 25.4 millimetres Inside Diameter - 19.30400 millimetres length - 63.5 millimetres wire - 3.04800 millimetres Compression rate around 47 - 50lb - 8.230961245 n/mm ish (That would be around 75 to 80% lighter than stock) So far im only finding companies that would need a large order to be placed rather than a small batch of say around 5 to 10. so, im gonna do more digging but I guess the question is, if anyone here has done this already, where did the springs come from..??? Cheers J.
  3. Cheers Adam Okies.. So had a look today and the wobble appears to be caused around the helper spring along with any support that seems to give. Unpinned at one end so the spring is unattached and still the same amount of side to side movement... So.. Firstly that means there shouldnt be any further adverse affect from me removing the spring Result! Secondly, that would suggest that either pins, the spring casting where the pins go through or the mouthing point on the pedal or assembly "could" be worn slightly, therefore allowing for the extra play.. So either they do wear or its just normal! Anyways, for now its back together (mainly cause I wanted to see if I could get it back together!!!) and further investigations (or removal of the helper spring) will re-commence next weekend but to be honest im prob just gonna ignore my oversensitive left foot and just enjoy driving the thing instead
  4. Spring is indeed still in mine and altho I know that improved the pedal feel, that's not really the problem.. (Altho the spring will be coming out cause I do like to be able to feel what the pressure plate is actually doing) Before I do that to I want to establish if this side to side movement in the pedal assembly is normal? Tomorrows job now tho as ended up washing the car instead today 370Ad (Apologies for not knowing your name mate)... When you put your foot down on the clutch pedal, can you physically move the pedal from side to side or is it just rock solid straight up and down? Cheers J.
  5. well good to know im not the only one To be honest I don't notice it at all when driving along normally and bombing up and down the box... But today, Stuck in a bit of traffic and it just became noticeable. I guess aswell im used to very heavy pedals and a very direct feel on the clutch with previous cars where the 370 is a little vague with the feel.. That and the paranoid feeling I get when ever I buy a car Anyways, I will do some general prodding and poking tomorrow and see what I can see.. Cheers J.
  6. Hiya Just wondered if anyone else has this and if its the "norm".. Only really noticed it today but when the clutch pedal is depressed its possible to actually move the pedal from side to side... We are only talking a slight movement here, maybe half an inch or so but def able to wobble it a tad.. Everything else if fine, clutch engage, disengage, gear change, everything perfect, its just the wobbly feel of the pedal when its depressed... Planning on wedging myself down in the foot well tomorrow at some point to have a look how it all works and see if I can see where the play is coming from. In the mean time tho, just wondered if anyone else has it or has noticed it as I haven't been able to find any other info on it.. Cheers J.
  7. Thanks for the welcome again guys.. Good to see im not the only one that moved from an S15 to the Z . It was indeed an awesome car but have to say, I am liking the Z a little more at the mo! Certainly easier on the ears and the back on the longer motor way drives.... I will no doubt ruin that over the next few months tho As for the old GTIR... Some old pics for ya: Wont go into the full spec cause it was VERY long but when it worked it was just ridiculous!!!! Standing quarter in the high 11s altho that did mean the gear box became a serviceable part on a regular basis!! Would have another one tomorrow if there were any good ones still out there as it was by far the most fun ive had owning a car.. Love the things to bits
  8. Blimey!! Quick replies and thanks for the welcome . And... Bob, Long time no see mate, hope you been keeping well buddy . Will def be along to meets in the Z mate cause to be honest I cant get enough of driving it. Catch up soon mate. Cheers J.
  9. So, as a newbie to your wonderful forum it would be rude not to say hello to you all and introduce myself to you with my first post So, My name is Justin and I live down in Sunny Dorset (Poole to be exact) and as you may have gathered from the title of this thread, ive just sold my S15 Silvia and purchased myself a Z but more on that in a mo! Anyways, ive owned a variety of the "quicker" Nissans over the last 15 years including a weapon of a pulsar GTI-R which was then followed by my beautiful S15 Silvia which I owned for the last 7 years! Couple of pic's... Amazing and beautiful car which I loved from day one of ownership but as with all things, the time came to move on and finally get my self the Z I have been hankering over for the last few years... Anyways, 1 week ago, I finally found the car I was after, a genuinely MINT 2010 370z GT Pack... Happy days! Car has only done 16 thousand miles over the last 4 years so that along with its immaculate condition meant there was only one thing that was gonna happen... Its coming home with me please! Car is pretty much standard other than the powder coated Rays (slightly darker than stock) and the exhaust mod to remove the center silencers to add a tiny bit more "rumble".. Only a few pics at the mo as to be honest ive been having to much fun driving it so stopping for snaps hasn't been top of the agenda but sure that will come. The few pics I have then... Anyways, Hello from me and my Z Cheers J.
