  1. I just PM'd you I have mine on for sale at the moment, Blade Silver.
  2. Hello there just PM'd you. If your still Looking, have just not long out mine up for sale.
  3. Cheers for replies and interest. The tube bit on the top of the original air pipe , made sure it went back in the same position when I took the pipe off to drill and tap the filter on it. Bit worrying if it's wrong, but the tube is shaped and seems to make sense where it is, Probably more worrying is if you guys reckon there is not eneogh air, or maybe too much getting in now. Have got it secured just now with a couple of plastic tyraps, so it's not moving about. Car runs ok, seems to be a bit more responsive, plosebo effect possibly. Only other thing this is auto jap import, so maybe engine different with regards to small pipe leading into the top. Any further adive on this appreciated. When I get a bit more time will look at a bracket and also a heat barrier. Also will look at a better quality filter in due course, will get the filter off again at the weekend and see if any signs of crap getting throught the filter. Thanks for the interest.
  4. Installed a universal filter and 70mm flexi pipe, cost effective Induction kit. Parts cost £17 form ebay. Easy to install using existing air intake pipe, unbolt the existing air box and drill and self tap filter onto existing pipe. Routed 70mm pipe through existing air intake duct and routed flex pipe to grill to pick up fresh air direct from the grill, routed up the pipe and directed into the front of the filter. Please see link for pics. http://s1068.photobucket.com/user/Macnore/library/?view=recent&page=1 Your thoughts appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the offer of an original Air box. Still got mine for when and if I sell. Don't think i'll bother separating it as I won't be idling much as a post reply suggests. Stays nice and cool when I have checked. Please see Photo bucket link for pics, not a botched job as a reply suggests and think the filter is not bad quality, hopefully the pics will show that. http://s1068.photobucket.com/user/Macnore/library/?view=recent&page=1 If weather is OK at the week end will remove filter and check the intake pipe for signs of stoor or dust getting past the cost effective filter. let me know if the Photpobucket links works. Will get onto the " how to " when I get a chance, Ebay links for parts etc.
  6. Cheers for the interest, will get some pics and see if I can attach to this post. The aluminium sheet looks as if it would do the job, maybe difficult to cut it to shape it though. Maybe an old air box would be a better idea, and modify the top part, cut away the right hand corner, then it will secure on the existing mountings etc.but don't want to savage my original box, A job for later me thinks. How would I attach the pics to this post .? Think I've still got the boxes that the stuff came in so will take pics of them also.
  7. Bought a universal air induction type filter and half a metre of 68mm flexi pipe for Fleebay, filter £12 and 70mm flexi pipe £5. Removed the airbox and removed the filter housing only and kept the original plastic pipe with Sensor and other pipe, drilled and self tapped the Universal filter onto the original pipe, you get x4 rubber adapters with the universal filter to fit different size pipes, so makes a perfect seal when you drill the filter, you use the existing fixing holed on the existing pipe, so will be simple to put the original filter housing back if needs be. Ran the flexi pipe down the size of the radiator and trapped to the grill at the bottom of the front bumper. 70mm worth of cold air air collected and ducted up into the front of the Univarsal filter. Works a treat, next task to form a way of separating where the filter sits to keep all the cold air that vent up away from the engine. Filter is cool even when the engine is hot and up to temp, so it does work and also looks great also. If there is any interest will takes pics and write a " how I did it ". Think proper Induction kits are about £80', this works out really well for £17 and a bit of DIY on a sunny day. If anyone is interested, post reply and I'll get some pics etc. http://s1068.photobucket.com/user/Macnore/library/?view=recent&page=1
  8. Got my renewal sorted out, was a bit concerned after having an accident last year, not my fault and the other insurance paid out with no issues. Had concerns when renewing this year but ended up a bit less. Kept it with Admiral and and thought they they would shaft me after I took out a Multicar with my 350z and work diesel Insignia, Got both for just over £400 , 350Z was £207 last year, business insurance on my Insignia, amazing I thought as they usually low cost for year one, then shaft you the next year, but pleasantly suprised. Worth considering if you have another car, even your partners etc, bundle deals together. Not any saving if I add my wife as the third car, my x 2 did the trick.
  9. Cheers for replies, I'm with Admiral just now on a multiple car policies, with my insignia I use for work. So double trouble, probably would go up anyway after year 1, once they reel you in for the first year. Nothing worse than trawling Insurance Websites, will try the comparison sites as a tester.
  10. Hello forum, After owning for 1 x year Insurance now due for renewal shortly. Unfortunately had an accident, not long after getting it, some 20 year old hit me travelling out of a one way street the wrong way, Not my fault, there Insurnace paid out etc, so no problem at the time, however I will need to declare it this time round when renewing. I have been told my premium will probably go up, even though the accident wasn't my fault. Accident by default I was told. Would this be possible, ?, doesn't seem right if it's not your fault, so why should my premium go up. Any one had any experience of this. Thanks
  11. Hello forum, Had my JDM auto 350z for about a year now, still all the jap radio and sat nav installed, when I first got the car purchase a radio band expander, thinking of having a go fitting it. Don't want to break any of the trim trying to get the radio out to get to back of the existing radio. Can any one advise how the trim comes apart and if the band expander is worth installing. Only was £10 from fleabay, so not expecting much from it to be honest. Only so much Radio 2 you can take. Radio and CD player works perfectly so would like to keep it as original without replacing it. Any advice or guidance appreciated.
  12. Hello there, I currently have a 350 JDM import auto. 2003. Spec is as follows, Auto and semi auto box, amazingly smooth. For an 85kmiles car. Radio is still jap, only gets radio 2, got a band expander but not fitted it yet, just use the CD player. Does'nt have dead locking seemingly, but has central locking. Rear reversing camera screen located above the radio, very handy. Has nissan brakes, not brembo, work ok for shooting about, but don't think they would hold up on track. Has an immobilliser in the key, and managed to get a spare cut with a chip for £65, not central locking key, but ok for a spare. Has a cat 2 additional immobiliser also, think this was an insurance requirement as it was an import. Only think I have noticed is when ordering parts, just make sure parts are for a 350 fairlady, or JDM. Any parts I have ordered are readily available. I got mine for next to nothing, so I wouldn't be put off one, if you get a chance for one you can save a fair bit compared to a UK one. Insurance was supposed to be an issue, but I started a brand new policy, with no no claims to put down, and got it for just over £200. This is a second car to me insured for less that 5 k miles per annum. Hope this helps
  13. Problem resolved now and passed MOT. Got £10 set of xenon bulbs from Ebay and managed to re wire the ballasts and bulb connectors etc. Fortunately the existing Ballasts were OK. Headlight pattern now what it should be apart from the kick up on the near side of the pattern, which is for Uk headlights. As we drive on the left. My headlight lens did not provide the kick up, just a straight line on the headlight tester. Garage suspected this was due to the age ( 03 2003 ) and possibly as it was an Import. They just noted it as an advisory. Took out tonight in the dark and they are surprisingly good, plenty bright, but noticed when you first switch them on its flickers slightly and it sparks up, rather like a fluorescent tube light. But once sparked,up gets to full light in a couple of seconds. For £10 for x 2 D2R HID 4300 Xenon bulbs can't be bad. Will see how long they last.
  14. Hello there 2003 350z going in for an MOT and knew I had a dipped headlight bulb out. Thought I had nothing else to do but replace the bulb, so took the bumper off to get the headlight out. Firstly sorry for the long post, but suspect this maybe a common cheap workaround for replacing dipped headlight bulbs. Mmmmm, previous owner had converted the dipped fitting to an H 7 type bulb fitting, wiring loom has been modified and the ballast had been bypassed, so replaced like for like with an H7 type bulb. Seemed to be ok and worked, did'nt fit very well, not seating in the bulb opening very well, but clip held it in position ok. Anyway off it went this morning for the test, got them to start with the lights as suspected there may be an issue. Instant fail, light beam pattern all over the place, ok so bulb may be in wrong position, started rotating the bulb and tested again, shape changed but still not correct, 2 hours later unable to get a pattern that would pass. Gave up and mot tester distraught by now. No wonder at night dipped headlight were rubbish. Checked the other side which was working ok and it's the same, wiring loom modified for an H7 bulb and the ballast bypassed. So makes sense now, previous owner stuck H7 fitting bulbs in instead of replacing with the correct expensive D2R bulbs. Can only assume after the last MOT and me buying the car as no way the beam pattern from an H7 bulb and the existing 350 headlight unit will pass an MOT. So looks like I need to convert back to the original fitting, problem is one of the existing fitting looks like it may be faulty with the mesh style wiring section being badly corroded. Are the Ballast parts prone to go faulty, don't want to buy D2R bulbs to find out the Ballast are also needing replaced. Any advice and guidance appreciated. Either way looks like I need to experiment with the bulbs first, can get cheeper ones for £60 for a pair. Has anyone had the same or a similar issue I am experiencing, or am I just unfortunate previous owner did a work around. Thanks
  15. Just a wee note to complete this post. Went down and bought the auto import, wow, amazing car drove the 360 miles never missed a beat. It's going into infinity at Braehead for a service and a health check for a bit of peace of mind. Fingers crossed alls ok, Really like the auto, effortless to drive, and plenty of power when you need it, also found theoretically button changes the setup, makes it more responsive and changes up and gears a lot quicker. If you get a chance to pick an auto, don't be put off, I'm really surprised I like it so much, especially after getting rid of my fiat coupe and Rx 8 last year. Shear luck I spotted this one, suspect the jap import put people of, but this one has auto folding mirrors, rear reversing camera. Does'nt have leather, but a nice charcoal grey with a deep red back ground colour, strange but nice. Body works, paint and interior is immaculate, so it's been well looked after. Thanks again for all replies and advice.
  16. Yes will get some pics and put them on. It's going into infinity at Braehead for a P1 service and a health check, got the deals from other threads. They seem very helpful, and the once I explained I had just got the car, the service manager came out and had a chat to me about what he will do as part of the Service. Basically an oil and filter change, he will verify the service history and carry give a good check over , basically a health check. Pretty good for £99 plus vat. Fingers crossed nothing crops up. Hopefully Glasgow weather will be kind at the weekend, get it washed and cleaned and get some pics. Can't believe you can pick up one these for not a lot of money,, glad I went for the auto, effortless to drive.
  17. It's been a week now and have to say these are some cars, auto box is brilliant, and plenty fast, found the power button, which is the same as the sport button, totally changed the auto box settings, accelerates faster and changes up and down quicker a lot more responsive. For normal driving the middle position is perfect. Only got 1 x key with it and managed to et a spare cut at Crockets in Glasgow of all places, thought I would have struggled with it being an import, but Paul in Crockets, knows his stuff, and read the chip in the key and knew the chip, not common in immobiliser keys seemingly, but he had one and for £60 got piece of mind now, no remote locking function on the key, but at least it will open and start the car. Would like to get the car checked over, so as suggested will start a newest for this. Infinity at Hillington seems to be popular, but don't know if they would do like a health check. Also digging about and some folks have used "the garage in Motherwell " Used them a few times when a I had my RX8 and they were good, Henry the mechanic knew the Rx 8 well and sorted mine out. Wonder if they know the 350's though. Thanks again to all responses and so far so good with my new toy. Will start a new post for garages and where's best to get work done. Cheers Cammie
  18. Well made the trip, and alls good. Genuine couple, everything checked out and car was in near perfect condition. Engine smooth as silk and pulls like a train. Ran the 360 miles home and never missed a beat. Kind of nursed it on the way up, but gave it the odd blast, amazing run and managed to do the 360 miles in just under 3/4 of a tank. So motorways driving returned god mileage. Spec for a jap import surprising good. Went and seen a 2004 on the way down and the only difference was the leather, the dash has a blank door with a storage compartment in it. Where the one I got has the jap sat nav, rear reversing camera and tv screen. DVD player is built into the rear area behind the drivers seat. Need to brush up on my Japanese for the sat nav, but the reversing camera is a bonus I think. No brembo bakes but the nissan ones stop ok. Kind of glad I got the auto, as the gt gear changes were heavy, also has a semi auto which your can manually change up and down. No cruise control which could have been handy on the way up. But a couple of stops in the glorious sunshine they had down there rested the right foot, no need for my left foot now. Could'nt believe what I paid for it, the jap import must put people off, but so so glad I made the trip and had a nice wee night in Leicester. Would like to get it checked over, don't suppose anyone can suggest a good place or possibly a member that works on these in Glasgow area. Thanks to all the replies and guidance.

  21. Going down tomorrow to view, car is £3800. So hoping to get a bit off it. Mot till 2015 and 6 months tax on it. If its all good and can't see anything wrong. I'll take a punt on it. Will pay close attention to the gear box and the usual oil and water leeks etc, mayo in the oil. I have expressed the seller to be honest with me before I hard down, as if there is any thing serious wrong with it I will find it and pretty quickly too. Armed with a trolley jack and stands I'll get under it for a poke about it. So wont be too chuffed if there are any serious issues. He has assured me the want for nothing, and he sound like a more mature gent, 50 plus. Did a HPI check and it didn't flag anything up apart from a private plate previously. No out standing finance, accidents etc. It was imported in 2007 and the seller has all,the import docs. An auto not ideally what i would want, but if its ok mechanically and in good enough condition then would be tempted. Don't really have the budget for a GT with all the toys plus to go for a newer one with service history and the toys is out my budget. Will post an update, fingers crossed.
  22. Apologies if I have offended members, I was unsure where to put my post. Don't know what you mean by send a PM. I assume cs is a member, would I look for them in the members tab ? And then send a private message .?
  23. Decided to call the seller again tomorrow, try and find about a bit more. I will call his bluff with regards to the AA inspection to see what the reaction is, and could HPI it and see what it flags up. If still got doubts then think this will give this one a miss.
  24. Again thank you for responses. If I was sensible, and I am sure you will agree i should walk away due to the logistics. If it was round the corner then great. Its like having a Angel on one shoulder, and a devil on the other. Perhaps it is Ok and a genuine Import and has been well looked after. mmmmmmm. May miss out on the bargain the centuary, maybe worth a punt. The maths don't add up, if they were the last owner for 12 months, and a previous owner for 9 x years they said then the free check i did showed up as if it was registed in 2007. so a few annomolies that make you nervous. Any way sorry for my tales of woe, will update once i figure out what to do. Will give them a call again and call their bluff with regards to an AA inspection. They are aware I would be driving the 300 miles to view, so if they are are aware of any serious issues, surely your conscience should tell them to let me know. After all its them that shall need to deal with an irate Scotsman and worst still his Wife as she will be the co driver. Will post again. Thanks Cameron
  25. Hello again, Has or would you guys use an AA inspection or RAC for a couple hundred quid according to their web site they will check over a car and provide a report on it. This may be a possible option for me, this would save me making the trip if the car is no use, they also guarantee Up to 10k or 20k dependant on what type of inspection you went for. For the risk of losing a couple of hundred may be worth the risk. Don't suppose any one has used type of inspection. ? Only thing with this option is risk may be they won't know any thing about these cars , and losing inspection cost if the car is a hanger. Any thoughts appreciated.
