I did that over the weekend, only soldered the cable to the pins, no cutting of tracks, so only took off the bottom lid. I took apart an old tape cassette en took out all the innards. So was left with the casing and stuck that in. That's it works really well. Switched on "Dolby" to get rid of the tape hiss

I'm sorry but apple products are a bit "nerfed" . Apple's version of Bluetooth only supports audio profiles. Get an android phone/tablet for the Bluetooth ELM or get the WiFi version of the ELM if you want to use it with an Apple product.
