  2. Hi Brad,

When I bought the car myself three months ago I budgeted for a clutch change as at 118K and no history of one I thought it may need it.

I did about 1000 miles in the car before yesterday and on my family's life never have I felt it slip or had any issues with it whatsoever.

The plastic bag smell I mentioned which you couldn't smell wasn't me trying to hide anything. I was being honest. A while back I created a thread where I could smell something burning. The smell came when the car was cold and at idle, and eventual investigation proved it to be a carrier bag that had gotten caught on the new Y Pipe.

Also the rev bounce is an issue with the speedo and nothing to do with the clutch. Alot of Zeds have this issue it turns out but I just figured that was how they were.

I am really sorry about the clutch mate but I honestly don't know what I am expected to do. I wasn't even going to sell the car until September and then I was going to ask for £5800 but a few people on the forum said "If you have to sell it then sell it now."

I didn't try to hide anything on the test drive at all, and you yourself just said the car was fine until 100 miles or so into the drive back. I would NEVER have sold the car if I thought the clutch was going to go, if I thought it was on its way out I would have got it done prior to selling.

It's 'not cricket' to knowingly sell a car with the clutch on its way out but I honestly swear it has been fine with me the whole time. Including the 100 mile round trip to Longleat and back recently.

I feel really bad and really wanted you to enjoy the car as much as I have mate. And for this to happen on the way home sucks.

6 hours after I bought it I marooned it on a driveway which wrecked the Y pipe flexis. £150 later it was back on the road.

Have you looked into the warranty that came with the car when I bought it mate? It was a 6 month one I recall. Not sure if a clutch would be covered as it is a wear and tear item possibly?

  3. Darren, where are you based, what's the mileage etc? I'm toying with buying a zed

    Hi mate,

Based in Bristol, Mileage is 118,000 with FNSH, taxed and Mot etc.

Brad is viewing it tonight though so it may go! Will let you know the outcome. I didn't intend to sell it yet but Brad needs a 350Z more than I do from the sounds of it, haha

  4. He's paying just shy of £800 for all the work.

For what is essentially a new interior, I think that's a very fair price.

That doesn't include front seats though!

Well they probably cost a good £1500 I'm imagining so a further 800 bucks isn't too bad to have everything top notch.

    Great work!!!

  5.

Must say i'm surprised by how much value they still hold.

M3s do mate. Can't find a decent E36 Coupe 3.0 for much less than £4000. 3.2 Evo? Add another £1000!

  6. Yeah but his reason was the fact it was a write off and didn't want the people he was trying to sell it to to find out, haha

I've pretty much scripted my entire advert but was waiting until closer to the baby arrival time to advertise it.

  7. A lot of the cheap checks don't tell you if there is any outstanding finance on the car though

Agreed. I used the expensive one to be on the safe side. Cost like £20 or £30 for three so I got 3. Only used one though. Other ones have expired. Oh well.

On another note, if Brad does buy mine it will be the one car he's been interested in that hasn't even been advertised, haha

  9. nah told him im going to give it a miss. i wanna go see Darens on saturday!

Is he aware of this?! You might want to let him know if not

He's been mentioning that his car is for sale in almost every post I've seen him make, I'm sure at this point Darren would travel to Bradders for a sale.

Wasn't that the car with an undeclared end over end crash? I don't know how he fixed it so well, I guess a lot of fibreglass

I fixed it myself so the workmanship is incredible. They were all out of fibreglass though so I just used Blu Tac and sticky back plastic. (And yes Brad we are joking, lol)

  10. I wouldn't worry too much about a CAT C. On my previous car (Celica) I lady hit my bumper at 5 MPH, this warped the bumper meaning a new one from Toyota, plus paint, plus labour, total cost of 1,300.

A small front-end crash would probably be enough to write one of these off of that kinda age. Id hazard a guess a new front bumper from Nissan would be 1,500, new set of lights, 1,300, washer jets 200 and so it goes on. You could be upto 4k in repaid in no time at all.

It was written off in 2009 when the car was worth £8000 though mate. That would be an entire front and rear end! Haha

Few Xenon Headlights up in there Nw wings bumper bonnet Slam panel Radiator Condenser could easy get up that way when you start adding paint prep, Recovery admin fees etc

I guess. But I'd still prefer a car that hadn't been written off.

  11. You're looking at around £800 - £900 for the clutch, flywheel and labour if memory serves me right. That will vary depending on where you take it to get the work done (Nissan stealer or local specialist). Standard advice is as follows - If you need to change the clutch, get the flywheel changed at the same time.

If your buying budget is tight and you're looking at 100k plus Zeds in terms of mileage, which shouldn't be an issue. You do need to be aware of potential expense on things like the clutch / flywheel. That being said, I bought my 2003 JDM on 66,000 miles and she'd just racked up 114,000 still on the same clutch. I am exceptionally smooth though......in terms of clutch and gearbox use that is

Agree 100%. Mine had no evidence of a clutch change so I expected to need to do it but touch wood I've done 1000 miles since I bought it and the clutch is fine.

I think traffic light grand prix attempts don't help. I'm very careful with my clutch and gearbox whereas my father in law had to change the clutch on his S2000 at 60K.
