A strange one this, I've had a Z for just over three years now. For me to own a car for more than a year is rare so there must be something about them that appeals.

I think the appeal for me is the fact it's the first car I've modified beyond just cosmetic stuff. The look of the car always appealed to me as did the noise it makes but the drive when standard wasn't up to my expectations at all. Don't get me wrong it felt better than the awful M3 that came before which is supposed to be a good car but coming from lighter more agile machines before that the Z didn't compare.

Modifying has to me personally improved the car power wise and suspension wise to a point where the bulk is less apparent on quick direction changes, this has made it more confidence inspiring in the twisties :)

So after three years of ownership and finally getting it sorted will I be keeping it .... errrm no.

Yes I will miss the forecourt presence and that glance back at the pumps (a place most Z owners are very familiar with) , I will also miss the noise.

However as a driving purist the Z still falls short on outright driving fun and with the imminent arrival of a new company hack my dream of owning a proper sports car for weekends looms.

Would I own another, well if it was my only car for everyday use then yes, I've always liked the look of a 370 nismo :)

I've got an m3 now and in fairness I genuinely like it however I don't love it like I did my Zed. A few of my colleagues at work have Exiges and swear by them. Great cars

  2. Well it's just passed the 2nd anniversary of my beloved Zed being written off in a crash. I have to say that I often reminisce about the old girl! The burble of the engine the grunt of the exhaust, not to mention the excitement of choosing the next mod! Add to that the cameraderie of Zed drivers flashing the lights as they pass! Whilst driving through Snaith, a small town in North Yorkshire this evening on my way home from work, I saw a silver Zed approaching me so I turned down the volume on the stereo and listened as it passed, awesome!! The rest of the journey left me thinking about what a special and unique car the Zed is and what a privilege Zed ownership is! I occasionally look at the forum especially the build threads, even the forum is the best I've been on, much better than the current one I use.

My question is are there any other ex Zed owners on here who think the same way??

would I have another Zed in the future ....... Hell yeah!!

  3. Ouch, ouch, ouch!! That's so unlucky. I really feel for you. Hope the insurance process goes smoothly and that you'll be able to salvage the 350.

Even if they can salvage the zed, which I can't see happening, I'll get rid after what hit it! I'll post a pic of that!

  4. Got checked over whiplash as standard and some lower back issues

Adrian Flux have sorted my courtesy car out for Monday. They're delivering an Audi TTS S Tronic. It'll be interesting to see how that compares to the Zed!

  5. gutted doesn't come close. Stationary at the lights at the bottom of junction 31 M62 slip road when a flat bed lorries brakes failed coming off the 62 ploughed full tilt into the back of me shunting two further cars in front. Arse end pushed right in quarter panels crumpled. Got to be the end for my beautiful yellow GT4

  6. The easy answer is "What does your policy say?". If you follow that, you cannot go wrong.

Some (like Admiral) want to know about anything that isn't on a base-spec car: In the case of the 350Z, that would include Rays if fitted as an option. In the case of an average 3-series, it could take a couple of pages! Some insurers (like A-Plan, who I'm with) want to know about mods, but unless you're going for massive power they won't load the policy: For example, my track slag has no interior which is covered under 'interior changes'. Some insurers (like Sky, who I was with) didn't care about factory options on my 911, but did care about official extras I'd added after purchase, like a sports exhaust.

Follow the policy wording. Really, to be safe just tell them about everything: Some will care, some won't, but either way at least you'll still be covered. Never make the assumption that it's so small that they won't care (like a stubby), as that's how you end up with issues.

I rang for a quote from Admiral who stated that they wouldn't insure a 350 with mods!

    I'm also with Flux now . . . . .

  7. I've got a cobra on combined with Berks HFC and stillen Y pipe sounds the bees knees in my opinion. Get lots of positive comments from non zedders too which is always nice :D

Exact same setup as me, sounds like a beast when you open it up ;)

    Sure does Chirag!

Always nice when folk turn and look when they hear me driving up behind them :-D

Do you have the resonated one mate? If so do you find it drones at all ?

I have the Berks HFC , cobra y pipe and scorpion back box ..... It's a bit raspy for me so thinking about swopping to something different .

Mines resonated mate. It can drone a bit on the motorway at certain speeds but they can generally be avoided! I really don't think it's a problem.

I'd certainly recommend them and they're a very popular exhaust.

When you open it up it sounds immense
