Hi All
So i've asked around about engines types that fit in my car
My car is a 2004 (54) DE 276bhp.
I found an engine 2005 GT4 300 bhp (297) with ECU and loom but after discussing with a forum member they said it wasn't a direct "plug and play" and wasn't easy.
I can't seem to find another engine that doesn't look like a lemon or is way too expensive...
My question is what extra would it take to fit a 2005 DE-R engine to my 2004 DE and what other parts would be required to make it work?
Thanks in advance
Chris
all i want for christmas ... is a working 350z

Thanks mate I'll call tomorrow.
Just found this what do you guys think?? Too cheap for a recon engine and fit (if I trailered the car down there)
-
Does anyone know of a z specialist as I think my engine needs a rebuild and all the garages I k ow of won't touch it if it's the piston rings (which it looks like) that have gone.
Estimated prices would be great if someone else has had a piston rings replaced.
Thanks in advance.

I'm in Preston Lancashire near the m6 j32
Thanks again if any one can point me in the right direction I'd be very thankful.

Thanks for responses I think it's too big a job for me so booked into the garage.
-
Thanks guys I thought that may be the case.
Is it better (more cost effective) just to replace the top end over overhauling the current?
-
Just turned the car on the move it was had a bad backfire eml flashing so I guess another plug has gone but this might be due to the oil issue wetting the plug??
-
Sorry didn't refresh had the same idea on leak down test. Any good places in near Preston to get this done
-
It went into the garage for a service not that long ago and all was well.
Do you think a leak down test should be done on it??
-
Had the car 3 years and not had an issue till now. See above for oil consumption
-
It was using around 3/4 - 1 litre per 3000 miles but now estimated 1 litre per 500-1000 haven't driven it very far since it started.
I drained some oil around a litre just to check for metal fragments/ milky then topped back up.

The back box wasn't fully connected therefore gas' we're coming out of the side

Here's a clip when cold this is when it's the worst

Hi all, 2 weeks ago my car started feeling different. It then went on to produce clouds of smoke (white when cold and blue when warm). The car stinks of oil in the cab when stopped.
I had to change spark 4 plug due to it starting to misfire and also changed to HFC.
I'm thinking that it could be valve stem oil seals that have gone. Is this a common problem with 350z at 100k miles?
Any other ideas??
I can't find any how to's on how to remove both heads or anything about valve stem seals going so I'm thinking maybe it's another issue.
If it was a head gasket I'd see residue on the cap but that is clean and the oil I drained out is still good.
Any help welcome. This is on a 2004 DE uk car

Hi all
Saw these coilovers today on eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/151828163122
They say that their for 350z and e36??
Is this a typo or can you use e36 coilovers on 350z's???

Hi all - please move if in wrong place.
This morning my 350z wouldn't start although it was fine yesterday!
12v showing on the battery
Cranking over but won't start
I tried resetting the ECU but it didn't work
When I pumped the accelerator while cranking it almost wanted to start.
I remember I only moved it yesterday off the drive then back on in the afternoon....
I flooded the engine - what to do is put on a battery booster and hope it fires which mine did otherwise the plugs need to be removed ( an rac man can do this if you're not sure)
I thought I'd write this as I didn't find this issue anywhere on the net.

Hi guys - I think i've found it in the owners manual ... The intermittent is also speed sensitive therefore the faster you go the more they wipe! and there was me thinking they were auto.
OK
I still have a problem while driving on the motorway where they just go mental and i can't switch them off and sometimes stopping?
Any ideas

Hi all
Not sure if i should be posting here ....
I have a 2004 GT model which has auto wipers (maybe its standard no sure). when I put them on auto they work very well (better than BMW;s!) but when it is on and off heavy rain when it stops the windscreen wipers keep going. I put it in off mode and they carry on, after awhile they get bored and stop after half the rubber is left on the windscreen!!
I was driving down the motorway in heavy rain/spray and then all of a sudden they stopped half way up the screen .. I pulled onto the hard shoulder trying to see through the screen and as i stopped they decided to work.
I've got the same issue in my 1 series if you mess about with them too much it stops working and I've changed the fuse on the BMW which helped slightly but they still have their moments.
Any help guys??
Many Thanks
Chris

£3500 for a 60k seems a bit rich something more around the £1500 - £2000 i was looking for.
