  1. OK, tempted but dout i can afford it but a mate of mine who is not on here but has come into some money wants to supercharge his car.

what companies do it? who have you guys used?

whats the best but most cost effective one to have done>?

    many thanks

  2. I care!

I OWN one and LOVE IT. it suits the mileage i drive. cost me peanuts. If we worried about the cost over just 3 years of ownership and it suited your needs you would love it too.

go and test drive it and see what you think. its going to be your car not everyone else.

Work out the cost savings for YOU and if it works, do it.

  3. If your electric car does run out of battery and you are stranded on the side of a B road what are the options? Can you recharge it roadside from some sort of large battery box/ starter or is the only option to tow it to a charge point or back home?

Also i am always weary of the kids of today being one for pranks when i was younger. I am fairly certain youths will find it highly amusing to unplug an electric car on charge at a charge station ot outside a house for those without a garage and then you are faced with a long wait before you can get to or from work?

Now when wireless charging comes in. That could be the future

you can lock the charge leads to your car.

Yes but same with ice really. Unless u have a can of fuel. Which same as if rac has a charger on board.

  4. This post has so got out of what it originally was for. It's clear people are saving money and as above and in my first few posts. There are proof u can save money on electric leaf. And that over 5 years there has been little if not no issues with the batteries. The nissan leaf battery had a cost of £5k but also had 48 separate cells. Taxi firm in London has saved 24k in that time.

People I know are buying mini jag VW Renault etc that have lost thousands of pounds in only a short time.

Not many people I know keep their cars for over 200k miles or 5 years or more. So I know I'm saving in 3 years I gave my leaf. Then I will change. In 3 years till possible for another leaf if not an ice car. Who know. There are plans for the next leaf to have 200+ range. So it is the future whether u like it or not. Just look at how far mobile phones have come.

  5. If you live very close to your place of work and will never ever ever need to travel more than a hundred miles or so, an electric city car is a good idea on a lease scheme. If you think that you might at some time like a spare vehicle to use for an emergency dash across the country, then you have to get an ICE car really.

An electric city car as a third car I would understand, but I'd never have one as a second car or if I new I'd be pushing the limits on the commute. When you can get a Smart for £99 a month and it'll be cheap as anything on fuel, I'm not sure I'd look elsewhere.

Nissan Will lend every customer an ICE for 14 days of each year, so an occassional holiday - SORTED!

I own the LEAF. Love it. I save roughly £80 a month on fuel. I beat kmost of the guys here at work in their VRX zafira, R32 Golf. I have the tekna. comfortable. I have heated seats all round. I can turn my heating on with a touch of a botton on my mobile. Excellent second car.

I also sell them so speak with me and il sort you out a deal.

So not bias at all then ;)

    :stir: oi you! haha

I'm not sure you can compare an R32 or a VXR of any kind with a Leaf.

I wouldnt say Bias no. I woud say ifg they were @*!#. no need to lie on here :p

but when it comes to the other guys racing down the road and having to put £20 petrol in their car and theres me just poping home and spending about £1 on electric, i do laugh.

Depends what you want from an electric car in many ways. Theres alot of proof that the Nissan Leaf is one of the best for the buck

And when you consider the boys in their vxr or r33 wont loose a penny on depreciation it probably levels it all out.

I will say, they have their place though and they suit a particular requirement, if your driving meets those requirements i see no downsides, but to me, i couldnt find one upside.

One thing never really mentioned because they are relatively new, what will the costs be when they start going wrong.

Delight of a PCP- give the car back at the end. money you have saved on fuel, pays for the difference. There are simple calculations to work out the money savings.

There are plenty of example of this not being a problem. Taxi companies with 7 electric cars. saves them 24k a year on costs compared to their old ice cars.

all vehicle above the 100k mile mark and battery state still above 96%.

the trouble is people are still scared!

the depreciation side of things will still happen to the best of cars. at the end of the day im enjoying the extra £80 in my pocket. i enjoy the car. its all self opinion and lack of knowledge that people have these 'Fears'

  8. Hi guys. Sorry for asking such a 'Tacky' question. I'd normally hate these. Can anyone recommend me a fix?

I have jr11 wheels. Look great but they have the rim that sticks out further than the tyre. A great look but after taking the car out today I come home to some stone chips on the outer edge. Aarrrggggghhhhh. Help me!!

What have other people done? Are there such thing as a decent rim protection? Where can I get some decent?

    Cheers

  9. Received and fitted this morning. Thanks Torqen.

Had fun setting it up with it not quite working.

Went and put my foot down in sport mode and lost all power over 3k revs. But think iv followed the instructions correctly second time round and think it works. I'm sure I can feel a difference between economic and sports.

If u can help with the above let me know but hopefully I'm there. And I will enjoy. X

  10. Today I spent 15 mins. Fitting my new toy.

The D1 Spec GT Throttle Controller.

Had trouble with the setting the first time round. Thought I'd set up correctly. Went down the road. Put foot to the floor. Bammm Eps lights came on and couldnt rev over 3k revs.?? Scary glad I wasn't over taking. Anyway after a bit of a reset I think it's working.

    Here's some pics of it.
