  1. Yeah I wanted to go aftermarket, but at this point I need to fit a new clutch/flywheel and get it serviced. Really can't add an aftermarket exhaust to the quote at this point. I'll go for the sleeve and then look into aftermarket in a few months. Going to hate losing the volume of the exhaust once it's repaired though!
  2. Hi all, I'm looking for a decent mechanic in the North/East London area that could fit a new stage 2 clutch and lightened flywheel, and fix a broken joint in my exhaust. My normal mechanic has gone AWOL and I wouldn't trust any popup garage around this area to touch my baby! the flange joint (i think that's what its called) where the exhaust pipe joins onto the backbox intake has completely corroded and broken off from one side. I took a photo when it was up on a ramp, but lost the photo from my phone. Ideally looking to get this done in the next 3 weeks as I have my MOT renewal coming up, and it failed last week because of the exhaust. I've got until 20th Feb to fix it! Help
  3. Cool, I'll most likely go for the stage 2 + flywheel offer, because, why not! Just trying to find somebody in North/East london to do the labour. Any contacts?
  4. Oh ok, makes sense! Yeah I'd definitely go for performance over an extra bit of rattle! I tend never to sit under 2-2.5k much at all anyway, (even when stationary ) Would the lighter flywheel work with a stage1 or organic clutch too? What would be the prices for those? Sorry for all the qns but couldn't find a website with prices
  5. What does a single mass flywheel do in terms of a performance upgrade against a dual mass? For £5 more, I'd go for the upgraded flywheel. Is there anything else I need to consider when going to single mass flywheel?
  6. Hi guys, I've got a VQ35DE non-revvup, and need a new clutch (and flywheel I think 'should' be changed, but you can advise better...). I'm just looking for an organic stock replacement rather than a performance upgrade as my clutch is currently slipping a lot if I floor it in 2nd and 3rd. Engine redlines and the car literally does nothing. Please advise
  7. I like the idea of a triangle security head! Will see what I can source. The setup is getting better by the day as the subwoofer is wearing in! For anyone debating this install, definitely do it!! Pretty happy that I actually took the time and effort to build the box myself rather than buying one
  8. Yeah definitely gonna hunt for a decent guard! I don't really let anyone put anything in my car anyway
  9. Lol welcome back Patch! No worries, I used your thread as a guide that it was at least possible, and it does sound so much better! I'm glad your absence made me decide to just go for it
  10. I'm now selling this incase anyone just wants an aftermarket behind-seat subwoofer. I have no use for it anymore, and can't exactly sell it with the car lol. Anyone want it for £20? Completely ready to install and screw in a sub.
  11. Progress pics: Installed and tested!! The bass is very tight and clean and does drop low; there's zero rattle that I can hear when it drops hard (and that's without using any Dynamat). This box is 100% better than installing an aftermarket sub in the OEM bose location - no doubt whatsoever. I messed up the box a bit, as it sticks out by just under an inch on the left hand side of the above photo. But not enough for me to care. I'm not great at woodworking, but has done the job well for me. I now have my bootspace back, and my amps are all hidden and neatly installed! I put my spare tyre back in, as that holds the boot floor up very well - easier than building a new floor for now. Job done.
  12. Lol yeah could always be worse! Hoping tomorrow is a decent day, althought it doesn't help waking up at 12 when sunset it around 4! lol
  13. Slowly but surely! The rain is really messing with my timeframe lol
  14. The rain has held me out for a few days, so I couldn't carry on with the build. Still haven't received the carpet, so couldn't finish the box, but I've done the amp rack and fitted it behind the seat! Although, in all my playing around, I've managed to generate a power leak in the car, it's killed off a brand new battery overnight. So need to find the leak now! Fun times I also had to hot glue the edges of the box, as the sawdust mix left some small gaps. It looked airtight, but I thought I may aswel be doubly sure, wouldn't want to rip the carpet off if i find a leak later on. Progress pics: Finally got my bootspace back!!!
  15. You could fit a 15, but you'd have to lose the spare tyre, boot floor, and get a custom box built. Either for the floorpan, or under the strut bar. Will be very difficult without losing some space. Under strut is best, or build a false floor with the sub underneath
  16. The amps at the moment are sitting under the boot floor, where the spare wheel used to be. Either I'll build a new floor above them, that lifts on a hinge off the bottom edge of the sub box, or i'll move the amps to the empty space behind the driver seat (in the cabin where the OEM sub used to be)
  17. Lol, googled some photos of leather wrapped boxes and they don't look as good as I'd imagined! Ordered some acoustic carpet instead, hopefully should arrive Tuesday!
  18. Nah im thinking more the textured leather that high end cars get? Can't remember what the name for it is
  19. Yeah i test painted part of the MDF, and it looks crap. You're right
  20. Finally finished the box! Added the photos to my other install thread
  21. Yeah I used your thread among many Cheers! My version didn't sound too good, hence the under-strut box being built, hopefully should be a good amount better!
