I have also noticed this in mine. First winter in my zed, coming from a 200sx which was actually ok in icy conditions because there wasn't much torque under about 3000rpm but in the zed it will spin up in slippy conditions from just above idle. Obviously being gentle on the throttle would help

Afternoon everyone, have just noticed while washing the zed that their is rust on the surface (both sides) where the rear shock top mounts are. It's an 08 hr. Is this usual? No other rust anywhere on the car. Cheers

I'm confused!!
I've got a 2008 HR 350z with the dual intake. I was looking to buy the Injen Dual Intake system, however I messaged The Bounty Bar Kid who has this installed and he said it doesn't make much difference to the sound and you can't really tell much difference in power either.
Now I know there have been discussions where people state gains or losses in power with induction kits, but I'm not fussed about this side much as it's negligible and I'm exactly looking to race. What I want is something which is going to give me a good sound for everyday driving.
The other thing I've read is that people who have changed their exhaust system then say the noise from exhaust overpowers the noise the induction kit produces.
So my question is this - do I spend my money on an induction kit or a good exhaust system?
Of course there's a cost difference but if one is clearly better than the other I'd rather save that much longer and do the better mod.
I've got no idea on exhaust systems and what I'd need to buy, etc so any advice would be much appreciated - or just point me towards the relevant threads!
I'm in the same situation mate! Want more sound out of my hr. I had it mapped by abbey on standard intakes. Like everyone says I don't think you gain much from intakes on the hr. I will be going for exhaust next just don't no what one I want!

Without a doubt the zed still looks amazing considering its age. The Astra is just an Astra at the end of the day. I'm not mocking vauxhall in anyway as I still think they make a good car (and I have had a few as previous cars) I do not believe it would get the attention a zed gets on a day to day basis

this place always has haters, every other forum think their cars could beat anything and the usual suspects on here slating it then saying but its ok because I like it,,,,,
Having an astra VXR means you need to explain to the girl whose pants you are trying to get into that its not a normal astra but infact a fast one.
I actually like it as I said I am surprised he beat it off the line earlier in this conversation but considering you can go onto autotrader and put in the 350z and 100 mile radius and only 5 or 6 for sale says it all. More kerb appeal ? ?
Someone also said the average hot hatch will destroy the 350z,,,, honestly,,,, sure it isn't a micra you own? ?
My mates have all the suspect hothatches. EP3, ST, VXR (old one) and focus RS. My engine is completely standard and not one of them would touch my car bar the RS. Off the line, rolling start, reversing or who's window goes up the fastest
It isn't the best car in the world and you can be realistic but that doesn't mean you need to take the ****.
I got caught up with a new shape focus st with mountune stickers all over it the other day. Obviously had some sort of work done as the exhaust wasn't standard and it was giving the odd puff of black smoke when he was on wot. We had a bit of a play on some private roads. I was surprised at how quick it was out of roundabouts (2nd gear) but after that it was clear the zed had the legs on it. I don't no what power it was but the mountune must have meant something.

Very true. Even though my zed is my daily, I still try to keep her mint. Parking away from everyone else in car parks to avoid door dents. Come out to find some idiot has parked next to me and opened the door onto my zed and scratched it!

I was just about to post about this exact same thing on my 08 zed! I find mine does it when I first get in it on a cold morning....
