  1. One thing to watch out for is sending a small payment, as a test, then doing the full amount. I did that and when I went to transfer the rest it was blocked. It was flagged as suspicious as this is what fraudsters do to check if a transfer can take place. A quick phone call resolved it but it delayed me by 30 minutes and that could have been 30 minutes spent in my new Zed! :)

  2. I've been quoted £400 this morning for a completely custom built Powerflow exhaust system (mid and back) but I'm struggling to find, on the forum at least, anyone who has gone down this route. It does seem cheap but the company are local and very reputable. Is it worth experimenting/giving it a go or playing safe with a tried and tested Cobra?

  3. it's even more bizarre that my car was probably registered hundreds of miles away.

AFAIK the new prefix reg plates are typically done by region. I can't remember what it is exactly, but when my better half worked at Toyota Bath ALL their new cars left with WN or WG at the start of the plate. So you might well find that the Zed you saw came from the same dealership.

Indeed, just checked and 'OE' means it was registered in Oxford. A mere 206 miles away.

  4. Bizarre moment outside my work today when another silver 350z stopped outside with the very next registration plate to mine. Apart from the minor heart attack I had when the first 6 letters of the registration matched and I thought the audacious thief was parading it in front of me, it's even more bizarre that my car was probably registered hundreds of miles away.

    What are the odds?

  5. I do trust the MOT centre, problem is it's only half a mile away and it was cold this morning. If I had known about the could cat issue people have come across I'd have driven it for a bit first.

The rear tyres are still legal despite doing a few hundred miles. I must be too gentle with them

  6. Whre are you based? If you temporarily need an OEM exhaust piece just to get through the MOT I'm sure there's someone close to you with 1 hanging around.

I'm based in Lancaster, lovely Lancashire. I'm thinking (hoping) it'll just be because the cat was cold. A quick search through the forum seems to suggest it's a common issue.

  7. Well MOT day has arrived. Due to various reasons I've only just been able to book it in so I'm uncomfortably close to the expiry date.

Sadly it has failed on emissions or on the lambda sensor at least and I've also got a hole in my exhaust (it's the OEM exhaust) :( The garage is running diagnostics this afternoon and letting me know. Although it's probably due to the cat being cool.

Looking at the positive side on things the leak gives me a good excuse to get the Cobra non-resonated exhaust!

  8. I gave mine a clean this morning using products solely from the box and I'm very happy with the results. I have to agree with some of the comments regarding the wax. I've got the blue dot one and no matter how hard I worked it I couldn't get it to look right. The bullet polish was the perfect alternative!

  10. I once owned a Pulsar briefly, very briefly in fact! Pretty much everything you shouldn't do when buying a car, I did. Viewed it late in the evening, bought the first one I saw, didn't check it thoroughly enough.

30 miles down the motorway on the way back (doing a conservative speed I should add) the engine went up in smoke. A very costly experience, but we live and learn.
