  1. Found another thread: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/38493-replacing-exhaust-center-section-studs/. Would appear a chat with ZMANALEX would be a good idea...
  2. Thanks guys. Got the thing up on a ramp and had a look. The back is an aftermarket stainless steel box and the hangers probably need modifying to make it fit properly. However, the classic problem of the real seal corroding has struck and the (OEM) mid section has entirely separated from the joint, it's just resting in place. He sent me away to find a mid-section to replace it with. I've had a quick look on here and found threads like this: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/65920-exhaust-bracket-corrosion/. The only difference is that my backbox is relatively new and stainless steel, so I would only be looking for a mid section. I'd like to keep the cost down as I've just forked out for the car. What's a sensible and cost effective way of sourcing a new mid-section. FYI - the Y pipe section is OEM and a little scrappy visually, but has some good miles left in it. I'd consider changing that too if it is cost effective, but my priority is to minimise my outlay for now. Thanks all!
  3. I believe it's an OEM exhaust. I'll pop in somewhere and get them to look at it and buy some Autosol while I wait. I have plenty of elbow grease Thanks very much all.
  4. Apologies, I suspect this has been discussed before, but a bit of searching and I didn't find it. I've just got a 54 plate Z as of Sunday. Just sorting out some bits to my taste (replacing head unit with something smarter, etc). The one thing that slightly bugs me is the exhausts being poorly aligned: Is there something that can be easily done about that? The exhaust is secure, it's not rattling around. It just seems to be a bit wonky. It's also very grubby, so any advice on cleaning the exterior of the ends would be welcome. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the comments. And yeah the back left exhaust is way off! I presume the general response is don't touch with a barge pole, or is there a value at which it's worth investigating? Exhaust pipe aside it's a smart looking one. Otherwise Myfairlady, you seem to have a decent selection and I will keep and eye on your stock over the coming weeks. Do you offer p/x? I've got a high mileage (160k) W-reg Honda Accord at the mo. Probably a better place for this chat though of course, let me know.
  6. Hello all, first post here. Been eyeing up a 350Z for a while and hope to be in a position to get one in the next few months. Ideal is a moderate mileage (sub 80k) 05 plate (pre tax hike) ideally black with tan interior, but also like silver and gun-metal grey. I noticed this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201303025578446/sort/default/usedcars/body-type/coupe/transmission/manual/maximum-mileage/up_to_60000_miles/colour/black/maximum-age/up_to_7_years_old/model/350_z/make/nissan/postcode/rh163nz/saved-search-id/2c92998936a0f1810136a7ab91a8001a/page/1/radius/200?logcode=p The car spec is ideal, but it has an engine issue and snuck in the description is Cat C. I phoned the guy up who said he didn't know what was wrong with it, just there was a rattle from the engine. My initial thought is there must be some catastrophic engine failure to right the car off, but I then wondered if it is a Cat C from a crash and it has now developed an engine problem. Not sure which is the case. I wanted to investigate to see if I could save myself a grand or two and get a perfect spec car as well. I know Cat C's aren't ideal but enough of a saving and I'll have a pop. A friend of mine who's changed engines for me before (at minimal cost!) was v sceptical about it but said I should try to get as much info as possible. Anyone know the car or got any advice? Thanks.
