  1. TomS - thanks a lot for the helpful response. I have been doing my research a little more on the GTR and been on the GTR forum and found that a fair few of the owners follow a similar servicing schedule. I have seen the litchfield service pdf before and found that helpful, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that one comes up within the next few months. Thanks again for the responses. Great pics of the cars by the way!! ðŸ‘
  2. Grahamc - thanks for the informative response. I am from Sheffield and the only GTR specialist nearby is a local NHPC that's about 20 miles from me that I'm aware of, where abouts is sly based? I think that if I was to own a GTR I would have the 2 services per year, even if one is just an oil change and check over as you've mentioned for piece of mind. Obviously to get a 09/10 GTR my 40k budget would probably be all gone, which is why I've considered other cars I.e the c63. I think most important thing is to get out there and test drive some. All that being said it is a dream to own a GTR, my partners next door neighbour has owned pretty much every car under the sun (Aston Martin, Bentley, Porsche etc.) and his favourite of all was the Nissan as an all rounder.
  3. Would the one service a year on the GTR be a large one then I'm guessing? Has anybody any experience with the running costs of the GTR? Another main thing is the car won't be tracked so the brakes etc. won't require changing as commonly as tracked cars
  4. I've always appreciated the presence and engine of the c63, the 4 seats it's just a bonus as I won't necessarily be needing them, and as you've said its like £10-£15k less than the GTR. Think I need to go out there and drive both the c63 and the GTR before Anything
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions.. - xkr I have actually looked at, seen a white 2010 that's a hell of a looker! -As for the mustang, stunning car however I'm put off by the depreciation of a new car. -BMW 640, great car I'm in agreement however we already have the a5 2.0tdi for the economy side of things! -Evora, that's a good shout! I'll look into that a bit more and read up on them as they initially seem to tick all the boxes - GTR would be the ideal as I've always wanted to own one. Does anybody know more about servicing costs? For my budget im expecting a 09-10 with 30-40k miles so I'm guessing the more miles the more it costs to service? Once again, thanks for all the suggestions
  6. By short I mean not nipping to the shops etc. it's more strictly just for work use and weekends. Rs5 I have considered but the other car is an a5 so...
  7. I'm hoping some of you may be able to help.. In a few months time I'm looking at chopping in the Z for another car. I have a budget of between £30-£40k and am toying at the possibility of a GTR. The only daunting thing of this being the twice a year servicing on pre 2011 models which would kill me. The car is going to be a daily (although generally not used for short trips) covering about 6k miles per year, therefore reliability is a big factor. The car needs to be powerful, and a handsome looking chap too either 4wd or Rwd. Another car I have considered is a c63 AMG merc. This again ticks all the boxes for me, does anybody have any experience with these? I have ruled out BMW m3 and Porsche 911 from the choices and also wouldn't want a brand new car due to depreciation. Do any of you have any further suggestions/experience with the mentioned cars? Obviously anything below the top £40k budget is a bonus as the money can be utilised on the car or other things. Appreciate any help
  8. After having 2 rx8's, they are an extremely good car as long as they are running right. They require regular oil checks and full service history (Ideally by specialist) is a must. Power delivery is completely different to the Z, all the power is in the top end which as fun as it may seem, becomes tiresome after a while. Handling is sublime, like its on rails with 50/50 weight distribution. I came out of a Z back into my second rx8 however I missed my Z that much after 2 months I was back in my current Z
  9. I'm counting down the hours now after that! Just what I was hoping for.. Can't beat the pops and crackles
  10. Getting a cobra resonated exhaust fitted tomorrow by exhausts UK in sheffield, and really cannot wait to hear it. Dont suppose there is any droning with the resonated systems are there? As ill be driving down to japfest next weekend and with it being a 3 hour drive i can see this becoming daunting if so
  11. All, Just a quick one, what are the differences between the above cars, the 2004 early model 350z 279 and the facelifted 2006/56 300 model? Obviously there is the BHP difference, but are there any other changes? Thanks Dan
  12. or do i just save a little more, go all out and buy an e60 m5!
  13. 23mpg on a run! What was the figure around town? 350AD, i know where your coming from, hearing horror stories about a car does put you off! Would you recommend considering any other cars? I do like the audi s3's 2008 model..
  14. What costs will they be do you think? Is that common across all the models of boxster s or in some specific ones?
  15. Yeah I have seen and heard a ot of people that prefer the old 2.0L engines to the newer 2.5L. Can i ask what mpg was you getting with yours? Not really an issue for me, as i know with performance comes higher running costs
  16. Anybody else recommend any alternatives? I have been looking at porsche boxster s, e46 m3's as a guideline, and also have around £10-£12k to spend. I sold the Z about 2 months ago and have had a 2002 celica as a daily for wokr and back. I would be wanting something that is faster than the Z and is a nice looking motor, any recommendations?
  17. Are the engine failures common in the new hatchback range? Do you know if this is caused by heavily modified cars or is this on the standard car also? Thanks for the help. Ekona, i have test drove one before and was immensly impressed with the performance of the car, as for the styling im a fan of the exterior looks of the car, especially the white ones (like i am looking at). I prefer the styling of the new hatchback subarus slightly as they are more understated than the previous models and certainly less common, however i am a big fan of both Would any of you recommend previous models of the subaru?
  18. Guys, I am consdering going to look at a 2009 impreza sti 330s model car on Friday after work, have any of you got any experience on how the new hatchback imprezas are? Or more specifically this model? Thanks
  19. My tongue has just hit the keyboard!
  20. To also add, it has all the GT upgrades I.e rays alloys, Bose sound system, heated electric black leather etc. the car is fully standard other than a carbon strip on the splitter
  21. Hi all, A friend of mine is very interested in my z.. He is fully aware of the knocking noise it currently has that some other z's seem to have. I have had it in to nissan and they have recommended changing the front passenger banana arm (where the noise is coming from). He is willing to buy the car off me even with the knocking noise. As for the car, it's an 04 plate grey z .. Full service history, 66k miles, in very good condition, no issues what so ever other than the knocking. What would you say is a good price for the car? Thanks for any help!

    Exhaust Help

Guys, When i bought my z 5-6 months ago I noticed that the exhaust was rather loud, after getting underneath before buying i saw the exhaust was fully standard and therefore prosumed all other z's sounded the same. Only until recently when its started to burble (although sounding great) when the revs are released. After getting it onto some ramps with a friend who works for halfords, he noticed the noise was due to the damage to the exhaust (See Pic). I have been to a few exhaust places and they have all told me i will be requiring a new back box, and new centre pipe. Just wondering if you all agree? Ive had a quote for a fully stainless exhaust, unsure of the make yet, fully fitted with lifetime gurantee at £359. Do you think this is a good price? Thanks for any help, Dan
