  1. @The Trouser - yes, it appears that the GTR has a very similar forum to the 350z one. I've just gone and registered and am having a nose about at the moment...
  2. Thank you for the compliments, it is a fantastic car. @ZMANALEX: I don't believe it's had any engine upgrades, no. It's the Recaro edition post the uplift that happened in 2011/12, is 542bph and has a carbon-fibre rear wing It's been spending the last year or so on the Isle of White. It's only got 20k on the clock. There's plenty of time for upgrades! Fortunately my wife is fully supportive, she's even coping with the fact that my new motorbike (that I expected to arrive in May) arrives this weekend as well. For those of you who know motorbikes, it's a 66 plate Suzuki cherry red DL1000 V-Strom... I'm not going to know what to ride/drive next week! All the time I was looking for a GTR, I was going for a Gunmetal Grey GTR, but more or less fell in love with this colour - Daytona Blue. It really pops in the sunshine.
  3. After nearly 4 years of owning my wonderful 350z, I took the plunge and have upgraded. Whilst I've not been very active on this forum, it's been incredibly useful and interesting and has led me to some great people who have done work on my 350z. I have really appreciated the access to people far more in to the technical bits and pieces of the 350z than I am. I've done nearly 50k in the car since I bought it, but now it's time for the car to go to another good home and I know it'll be looked after where it's going. Here's a glimpse of what my GTR looks like (I hope I've done that right)... It's a thing of beauty and raging performance... I think I'm going to like it as much as the 350z... Cheerio! chipshopman
  4. Wasn't me either, I was down in Newbury yesterday afternoon and came home via Berkhamsted and the back lanes...
  5. There's 2 silver 350Zs in the Ricky/Chorleywood area, one's mine and the other one I've occasionally spotted. I think you saw the other one coz I wasn't in Ricky that day... There's a black one too, seen it parked up in both Chorleywood and in Hill Rise, Ricky... Not that this is any help in you identifying the one you saw... Sorry
  6. Thanks, very useful, I will check out those links and take things from there. Good stuff.
  7. Thank you. I like it, had it nearly two years now. Just had the wheels completely refurbished, very happy with the result. There's some bits and pieces on the bodywork that need doing, but otherwise, it's a very tidy car! Nice looking one you've got yourself.
  8. Hi everyone, The plastic underpan that sits under the engine on my 06 350z is a bit knackered - I think I may be responsible after going through a very bumpy/lumpy road & ford. Now it scrapes on speed-bumps on the RHS. Been doing some research on this forum and the internet and I'm struggling to find what the part(s) are to replace and where I could get some genuine or very good after-market replacements... Can anyone help/advise? Cheers. chipshopman
  9. That was me, I think. About 1.30pm today. If it was you, your window was down and I was surprised you saw my somewhat minimalist wave - I didn't get the time to do anything more dramatic, your wave was a lot more generous!
  10. ChrisB - Thank you very much, I've only noticed it on LW, so when I get a chance, I think I'll be investigating the wiring in the boot vicinity. WhackyWill - Yep, yep. For me, it makes driving the Zed in the summer even more enjoyable, although I have started to consider swapping the stock stereo out for something a bit more up to date that includes a digital radio when I've got a bit of spare cash...
  11. Odd one this. Wanted to see if anyone else has experienced it or could diagnose: I was listening to the cricket on Long Wave in my 350Z the other day and every now and then noticed the type of interference crackle you get when there's a storm nearby. Initially I thought it was indeed crackles due to nearby lightning, but in the end I realised that it coincided with me changing lanes and the rear wheels going over the cats' eyes. A bit later, I went over a shallow pot hole and the same thing happened. So it appears that something is causing radio-wave interference that's connected to my car's rear wheels going over bumps. To me, that's got to be electrical and to cause that kind of radio crackle has to be a short or dodgy connection. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone got any idea of what it might be? Should I be concerned? Any ideas welcome! Cheers. Chipshopman
  12. Thanks. I think I'm just going to take the cover off, hoover behind it and then put it back on and see if it makes any difference!
  13. I've been irritated of late by a buzzing sound when I drive on certain surfaces in my 350Z. I've been trying to work out what it was and the other day whilst driving along with the buzzing sound happening, I realised it was almost directly behind me. I felt behind and when I put my hand on the speaker cover behind the driver's seat, immediately the buzzing ceased. I took my hand away and the buzzing started again. Has anyone experienced this before? I couldn't find anything like this on the forum. Could it just be a loose cover, something stuck behind the cover or something else? Any ideas before I go digging around in the speaker enclosure to find out what's causing it? The one in the passenger's side doesn't have a problem. Cheers. Chipshopman
  14. Middle lane, not long after the hanger lane gyratory. I pottered past on my motorbike, think the driver was wearing a T-Shirt with red stripes or hoops.
  15. This lunch time, 2pm to be precise. A yellow 370z pottering along in traffic going over the bridge on the A404 at J17 of the M25 heading towards Chorleywood/Little Chalfont. 2Up. Had a black 370z decal down the side at the bottom of the door.
  16. Spotted a gunmetal grey 350z going down Long Lane out of Chorleywood '53 plate if I recall correctly just after 8am. Went straight over the M25 junction down the dual carriage way, turned right at the roundabout and then left in to business park where Nissan has offices. Looked good from behind! Also, a silver roadster '09 plate pottering down the middle lane of the M25 at around 11.15am between J16 & J17. On both occasions I was on my bike, an orange Suzuki V-Strom, behind you... You guys cosseted in your warm, lovely 350Zs, me on my bike freezing my 'nads, hands and other extremities well and truly off! A little bit jealous! chipshopman
  17. That's kinda what I was fearing, although if Nissan did do that, I'm taking it back for them to do again after they clay it for free... I've not found anything online so far that says claying removes Supagard for sure, but at this stage I don't think I'm going to risk it...
  18. My 350Z was supagarded by the Nissan dealer, today after I'd washed it using the supagard shampoo, I could tell there was quite a lot of sticky contaminants left on the surface. I thought that Supagard was supposed to prevent this, am I correct? If I used a clay bar to get these sticky contaminants off, would it also remove the Supagard? I'm happy with the way the car's shining after the wash, but I'm surprised by the sticky contaminants that are left. I've not had previous experience of Supagard, so would appreciate anyone's help/advice/guidance. Cheers. chipshopman
  19. Two black coupes today. One parked at the bottom of South Road in Chorleywood, 07 plate I think. Seen that one parked there previously. Does the owner live in Chorleywood? I thought I was the only 350Z owner in the village... Passed another one on the M25 anti-clockwise around J19, 55 plate.
  20. Marvellous. They're only a few miles away from me, which is good news. Thanks Clown/Roadtrip.
  21. Looking to get a set of winter tyres on my 350Z shortly. I think I've decided upon michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s. Does anyone know of a good tyre stockist/fitter in the Bucks/Herts/Middlesex that i can trust with my 350Z to? Cheers. chipshopman
  22. Thanks for the welcome everyone, I'm hooked already, wasn't angling for the fish-related punning but it sounds like the comedy here is turbot charged. I hope you'll forgive a new member who might flounder around the forums for a bit finding his feet! Elvis, no, not called Elvis. My son (aged 7) decided to christen the Z this morning by writing (in the beaded rain on the bonnet with his finger) "Dan was here". At least he spelt it right! <sigh> Both my boys love the Zed, they like the roar! I will post some pictures, once the rain holds off for a bit!
  23. Haha! Sadly not, more a reference to a famous Kirsty MacColl song and that I'm in the technology business... (and before you point it out, yes, it was a guy down the chip shop that swears he's elvis, not a man, but there you go)
  24. Well, now I'm working for myself, the bike was becoming less practical to visit clients in and remain ready for the office and uncrumpled, the 350Z keeps the fun up whilst sorting out those problems!
