  1. file://localhost/Users/paul/Desktop/IMG_0306.JPG If you pop the top link in the browser it works but i would like to know how to get it on the forums directly please. This was taken just before dark and believe me you can not make any of the figures out on the speedo once darkness has descended . Did notice something i thought might be worth mentioning, when i turned the headlights on the clarion stereo dimmed down significantly, might be normal ,might be right who knows . I know something i got to work out the solution to this speedo problem, don't think the police are going to go for that if i get caught exceeding the speed limit telling them i can not see the speedo actually since all you guys have been telling me the interior lights come on day/or night as soon as you put a key in the ignition i don't think it has anything to do with the headlights,i just think there is something wrong with the speedo light which obviously i did not really notice until darkness came as i have only driven the car in daylight until saturday night.
  2. Daft question but how exactly do i get a picture that i have taken about the problem on here
  3. No i did not fit the stereo but later when it gets dark i will take a picture, the dashboard lights come on when i insert the keys but as soon as i turn on the headlights i can not make out any of the speedo on the right hand side,i have tried the plus and minus buttons on the right hand side and these don't make a difference as i still can not see the speedo or any reading on it. I can see that there is a small amount of light when i press the plus/minus buttons but I'm not sure why this clock seems to be basically blanked of,the other 2 dials are fine and all working correctly. Husky what you suggest is a option but well beyond my brain and patience as i just want to enjoy the driving of the car and have very little interest in the understanding of how a car operates mechanically,if I'm needed to do what you suggest then i will put that into the hands of someone that knows what he is doing as i would not even know where to start and basically you have lost me just reading what you suggested even though i appreciate all what you are saying and I'm not disputing any of it. Will wait until dark take a picture and this may or may not explain the problem a little clearer, every clock during daytime hours functions correctly but when darkness arrives and headlights are switched on speedo dial is unreadable .
  4. Dblock not sure what you mean by the speedo is always on and again putting it back to stock ? Sorry but could you give me this stock procedure. Cheers. Can get a picture one night if that helps you out.
  5. Hi all I will try and explain this a best i can having only had the 2004 tip/auto 350 z for a matter of a week or so,anyway went out in it saturday evening at night and when i turned the lights on in the car the speedo dial on the far right of 3 could not be seen. All i could make out was a few lines and bits of the clock itself ,now there was a little bit of light but the speedo was basically rendered useless even when i used the plus minus buttons to dim or make the light brighter to no avail . i was wandering what this could be and its the first time since the forums got updated have i been able to answer the question. Could it be a blown fuse or does it need a new interior dash light or something, anybody with any ideas please let me know where to look and how easy is it to change a dash board light if that is whats required. May be someone on here has had a similar experience, besides i was doing a little Google research about this problem why this site was down and the only thing i came up with is people suggesting that if someone has fitted a after /market stereo this this could be the problem. And in mine is a nice Clarion system that works all fine and dandy but has the fitting affected the speedo driving night light or what ? Thanks all . By the way the other 2 clocks worked perfectly when turning on the night lights.
  6. Thanks Marzman and the rest for the information appreciate it.
  7. Hi guys and Girls . Another Noob Question as i have not got around to going through the car manual, well i have but i have not seen what i was looking for regarding a Sports Mode setting, normally i would expect a S on the auto gearbox for Sports mode but apart from the standard P N R D and the option to go into tiptronic mode i don't see a Sports mode. Not really that concerned as the car is well fast enough.also i noticed a button down on the left hand side by the handbrake that said Snow and i forgot the other but i think it was speed. Sorry if it's a daft question but why not ask a Daft question on the appropriate forums regarding the ZED cars because there are far more knowledgeable people on here that will know the answer than poor old me. By the way its a 2004 plate
  8. Just out of interest got any idea what the tyre pressures should be on these that i listed, have not got a clue and only know that normal would be 35 psi but these are considerably wider on the back and i think different on the front.
  9. There are quite a few on here mate that think Bridgestones are not to clever and many are talking about Michelin pilot super sports and Nokian and MPSS. Im all ears mate as i have not got a clue what to put on next and what i have to expect to pay,if someone tells me where i can acquire a decent set of boots for the right money in the Tewkesbury area then im all for the advice. Had your Supra twin turbo GTO and a fair few others over the years but this is my first ZED as you lot call them and i am clueless when it comes to what to put on and where the best price to get the parts like tyres ext apart from the obvious ETB , National tyres ect . I have put down the correct tyres sizes on various websites and continental are around £260 on the rear, obviously thats before i found this great 350 Site and all the information related to the car. Any tips like i say I'm all ears............
  10. Cheers Leeroy as i suspected they are not correct,at the moment they have a fair bit of grip so i dont think £1000 plus on a new set of boots is appropriate ,while im on the subject when i am ready for tyres what would you personally recommend mate.
  11. Hi guys and girls. Just like to say that saturday i picked up my first Nissan 350 z [2004] auto/tip with 59,000 on the clock, after test driving the car which was at a dealers in Bradford and im from Tewkesbury it drove like a dream. Anyway enough of the jargon as i have a question for those people who know far more technical aspects about the car and set up than me as i just want to drive them and have no interest in much else. Anyway the Question is Tyres and are these the correct sizes as personally I'm not sure based on what i have read on this forum and a fair few others. On the car are what was described as Jade R alloys 18 inch which by all means look nice and i presume these are not the stock size as i think if I'm correct in thinking that they were 17inch as this as you have guessed is a Jap Import, see I'm lazy and love automatic cars and to be honest I'm 50. Anyway like i said on the initial viewing and test it was the best 350 i had drove and i had seen a fair few the previous weeks, when i looked at the tyre sizes they were as follows. FRONT 235/40ZR18 95W REAR265/35ZR18 97W Now i have read on here that the correct size for 18 inch rims are. FRONT 225/45R18 91W REAR 245/45R18 96W Now guys don't knock me for not understanding the dynamics and performance of this vehicle as i am only interested in the basics for safety reasons and have no interest in trying to service or do any jobs on this car,I leave that to people that enjoy that sort of work as i don't . The reason i ask about these tyres is there are many hundreds of people on here that have had these cars for many years and know far more than i will ever know, another reason is on the way back down the m5 i obviously flawed it a little and it did have quite a vibration on the steering wheel at between 80/85 mph, after that it was fine. I ask the question about the tyres because even though i don't know much those tyre sizes seem a little odd to me and could this be another reason why on one occasion on cornering the TRIP light flicked on for a fraction of a second. Great site and once again i thank in advance those that answer my first question, basically talk to me like you are talking to a minor as technical jargon just confuses me
