  1. Welcome. I've had my '04 a year. No mechanical issues but had a window motor go and have some corrosion at the front lip of the bumper. Both seem to be common enough. Check your oil level regularly.

Only other problem you'll have is you'll want (not have) to spend a fortune. I've just had spacers fitted, should have done it a year ago, and some very expensive tyres! A decent exhaust will be next (towards the end of the year though!!)

  2. Dammit! The fitters called this morning to confirm they'd received my tyres. Camskill price is a good £85 cheaper! I'm not going to go through the hassle of trying to cancel it now given my price includes fitting and a cheap MOT but wish I'd seen that last week!

  3. I didn't stumble across it on during my tyre searching, but looks like the Bridgestones are on a one day special there. I ordered a set of MPSS on Black Circles yestreday for just under £200/tyre, they're £240/£260 on Tyre Shopper.

  4. Thanks for the input guys, thinking I might just go for all 4 MPSS - dubious about the £5 MoT though zroar, can imagine they will fleece you on parts if you only pay £5 for the MoT :p

Had a closer look when ordering there, you claim the offer from black circles, pay for the MOT then send them a copy of the pass certificate and Black Circles refund it minus £5. Aparrently.

Posted the prices I got here.

  5. From www.blackcircles.com (they have some association with Tescos).

    Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/45 R18 Y (100), Reinforced £197.71 x2 £395.42

    Michelin Pilot Super Sport 225/45 R18 Y (95), Reinforced £196.08 x2 £392.16

    Additional Fitting Fee £5.00 1 £5.00

    Total cost: £792.58

Plus I selected the MOT for a fiver deal so paid another £5 with the order and after I pass the MOT due next month I can claim back most of the fee from Black Circles.

  6. I've been trawling for opinions myself for a couple of weeks. General consesus seems to be MPSS are the preferred option. FK453s are not too bad as a cheaper option but may wear a bit faster. Can get a full set of MPSS on blackcircles.com for about £787 so I'm probably going with that. They also have an MOT for a fiver promo going so bonus!

  7. I only need fronts for the MOT but going to do all 4 - that's what the prices above are for. If I'm not getting ripped off then I'm happy enough to stick it on the credit card and pay it off over a few months knowing I have a great tyre at a fair price.

  8. I'm looking at the minute and torn between FK453s at £579 or splash out on MPSS for £787. I'm no race driver and this is a BIG spend for me but the consensus seems to be that the Michelins are the best but most expensive option. Guess I just want to know if this is a normal price for MPSS or if it's way too much (from blackcircles.com and marginally cheaper than the price from some local tyre shops, who I don't really trust).

  9. Don't imagine the OPs still about to advise on a good course of action for this. Having owned my 04 zed for 8 months I finally tracked the intermittent rattle to the alarm led. The slightest touch of a finger stops it but I don't fancy using blue tac or glue on the dash!

  10. The info below is more focused on drink driving offences but it seems that if you have a previous conviction but it is now 'spent' they are obligated to ignore your response, so whether you lie or not can't be taken into consideration; they are obligated to ignore it completely. Same should apply to convictions of speeding offences, so taking the conviction will likely only effect you for 5 years max.

    How long before a conviction is spent is a different matter. If you get a fine it is 5 years. Most commentary seems to say if you get a disqualification and a fine then the 5 years for the fine trumps say a 12 months disqualification. However, this is NI legislation and England/Scotland/Wales may differ, Table A and paragraph 8 in the below seem to contradict this;

    http://www.legislati.../1908/article/6

"A fine or any other sentence subject to rehabilitation under this Order, not being a sentence to which Table B or any of paragraphs (3) to (8) applies. - Five years"

" (8) Where in respect of a conviction an order was made imposing on the person convicted any disqualification, disability, prohibition or other penalty, the rehabilitation period applicable to the sentence shall be a period beginning with the date of conviction and ending on the date on which the disqualification, disability, prohibition or penalty (as the case may be) ceases or ceased to have effect."
