  1. Hi all, I have an 05 Nissan 350z. Recently the engine nearly overheated as I noticed the temperature gauge go higher than it should. I've had a friend take a look at it who is a mechanic (but not too familiar with 350z's) and he noticed that both radiator fans werent functioning. Now he found this surprising and said it was rare for both fans to go at the same time. We did a few checks on fuses etc and everything seemed OK. My question to the guys here is: 1. Is this a common issue? 2. Is there something else which could be at play which I should take a look at? 3. Thinking of repairs, is replacing the fans a straight forward job that most mechanics can do? (I usually use Horsham Developments but they're pretty far)
  2. Thanks for the suggestions guys I've had a quick check by pushing the rear of the car up and down (each side one at a time) and no noise, I've also looked at the video posted in the thread linked above and the noise is not the same as that. The noise is more higher pitched and more of a squeal. It sounds like the brakes and only happens occasionally when braking at slow speeds
  3. Hi guys, My 350z underwent a p3 service and brake pad change about 6 weeks ago I've noticed the rear squeeking on the odd ocassion when braking at slow speeds, I was wondering whether this is due to new brake pads or something else as it doesnt always occur when braking
  4. Hi guys, Sorry I totally forgot to manage this thread. Benjy88 - apologies for not getting back to you mate, JB-UK pm'ed me lightning quick to nab them! Thread closed given these are sold + delivered.
  5. Hi guys, I've got a brand new Brembo brake pad set for front and rear tyres. They are boxed and unopened. I originally bought 2 sets (one for my 350z and one for a friends), he forgot to take them with him when getting his car serviced so the garage ended up providing a set (doh!) So here I am selling the set. As mentioned they're fully boxed and unopened. Pictures below. I am looking for £50 + P&P for the full set (thats a saving of £30!) I am located in West London / Central London for collection if wanted otherwise payment via Bank transfer/ paypal (you pay fees).
  6. I didn't realise camskill were doing £20 voucher for petrol! Will contact them to see if I am still eligible Ended up paying £15 per tyre including balancing/alignment etc
  7. Right guys Ive just a new rear set of Bridgestones from Camskills but I now need to get them fitted. 1. How much should fitting cost for 2 tyres (or per tyre cost?) 2. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to go (west london/Berkshire) or online mobile fitters? 3. Are all fitting jobs the same i.e. If I go anywhere will they do tracking/alignment etc or is that a separate job?
  8. Guys, Need some advice on getting a P3 service done for my 05 350z (105k miles) + MOT Any recommendations on 1. who to visit in the Slough/Berkshire/Heathrow area? 2. Cost
  9. Guys, Im considering getting this headunit for my 05 350z http://www.ebay.com/itm/Android-4-0-Car-Stereo-DVD-Player-3G-WIFI-GPS-Navigation-Double-Din-TouchScreen-/140896822861?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 Its double din Android Head unit. I wanted to ask the following questions 1. Will this Headunit fit in the 350z? (Ive read something about depth issues. 2. Anyone ever used cheap chinese headunits from ebay? 3. The best source for wiring up to existing Bose speakers and steering wheel controls (link in sticky not working). 4. Any other issues I should be aware of when fitting? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the advice guys. It's not a matter of affording it, as some members mentioned I am considering parting with the car in about 6 months, the eBay auction merely got me intruiged when I was looking around for how much a clutch will cost. Of course i wouldn't say the clutch was 'new' if reselling. The car isn't my daily driver, and I do still need to find a garage to do the work. I will most likely go with a new clutch and flywheel as its probably better to have the job done right first time.
  11. Oh ok fair enough, I was under the impression if you change the clutch the flywheel changes too? - Is that not correct? At the moment the symptoms are clutch slipping i.e in gear 1 the revs pick up alot faster than the speed
  12. Looks like il be needing to change the clutch on my 350z (06 model) soon, Just waiting on reply from zmanalex for clutch and flywheel cost thought I'd have a quick google/ebay and saw someone with a used clutch + flywheel http://www.ebay.co.u...091990c8&_uhb=1 I know what most guys would think and say just get a new one but would it be worthwhile giving it a punt (reason I am considering it is because I may be moving abroad in 6months hence selling the car).
  13. My leather seats are starting to look a bit shabby (nothing major, just noticed a few extra cracks etc more towards the side of the seat when I enter the car) Anything that can be used to maintain the leather?
  14. Im pretty sure its not the valve, I put a tiny bit of soapy water on the front and nothing was really happening to indicate a leaky valve, unless thats not the right way to check?
  15. Hi guys I need some advice regarding a slow puncture: I'm losing about 10psi over 24hours, I am thinking I will get it repaired and replace the tyres in about 6 months (when I was planning to replace them all around) I currently have Bridgestone Potenza's all around and would like to replace them all in one go so they are same brand + tread Should a repair be ok for this time period and how much should I be paying?
  16. Thanks for the tips guys, I will definitely look into it! Tried to log in a few weeks ago as the site was down, liking the new look!
  17. Hi everyone, Im looking to plan a few roadtrips at the beginning of next year, and thought some of you may be able to give me some insight! I'm open to anywhere in the UK (wales or Scotland would be a good shout as I have never been to either!), also any European destinations -Only caveat at the moment is that they can fit into a 3 day weekend (long weekend) Looking for somewhere with good roads, scenery and things to do in the evening? Let us know any ideas
  18. in terms of routing the power button i messaged ashyk36 who has also installed a Dell streak 7 into his 350z and routed the power ribbon on the tablet. The issue with upcoming tablets and all current gen tablets is as manufacturers try to slim down the devices more and more components are integrated, for example the LCD is joined/fused to the Glass Bezel (which is fused with the Digitizer) therefore you cant remove them and this means a 7" tablet wont fit in the 350z due to the bezel around it. Therefore you are limited to older generation tablets. I could be wrong and some of the new tablets could have separate LCD, Digitizer and bezel but I highly doubt it....
  19. Just to update this thread: I have got myself a Dell Streak 7 - I have installed a custom Honeycomb rom on it and have been testing out a few apps like Copilot (sat nav) and torque etc to make sure its stable and working fine. I will be researching opening up the tablet etc and look to mounting it in. I will be wiring the power to the rear power cigarette lighter - So if anyone has any advice/links/pics on: 1) How to open up the interior to get to the cigarette socket 2) How to actually wire up cigarette lighter socket (The reason why I am using the rear cigarette lighter socket is because Im attaching a USB port which will go in the rear center cubby where the USB from the tablet will run so If I ever need to connect a laptop to it to upload things etc its very easy to do so)
  20. The screen is 7" but the bezel around it is larger! The issue with the nexus 7 is that the 7" LCD is fused to the front bezel and is not easily removed, therefore it doesnt fit (unless some of the bezel is cut away)
  21. Been snowed in with work the past few weeks mate so not had a chance at all. I currently have the sat nav cubby and just waiting on an appropriate tablet. After you mentioned you cut the tablet it got me thinking as the nexus 7 would fit if I cut a bit of the bezel, I was considering doing it at first but dismissed the idea as I assumed the glass would crack. 1.What did you use to cut the tablet? 2. Why did you need to cut the streak in the first place, I thought the 7" screen fits perfectly into the cubby? (or was it because the bezel bit has the digitizer?)
  22. ok cheers just double checking on that front. In terms of touch up paint - Im guessing il have to go to a nissan dealer to source it? Also how difficult is it (worried I may bodge it up!) - Or do garages provide a touch up service? (Anyone on here perhaps?)
  23. Hi, Well I am looking to basically kit myself out with all the basics so yes clay and wax, not sure what you mean by leather food? if anyone knows of a good supplier to use, let me know Im just looking for a good clean as when i first picked my car up I never noticed many stone chips and recently Ive noticed quite a few on the front bumper, not sure if I missed them in the excitement when purchasing or due to the polishing/waxing job or whether theyve recently come about (only had the car 3 weeks so doubt that is the case)
  24. Hey I just recently got my Gunmetal Silver Zed and decided I need to get some cleaning/detailing gear for it. I have read the how to and will be getting: Lamb wool mits Meguiars #62 Bodywork Shampoo & Conditioner some questions I have are: 1. should I get the Meguiars Water Magnet Drying Towel or are there more inexpensive alternatives 2. For cleaning the interior (dash, inside doors) what should be used? Finally the front bumper has a few small stone chips, what would be the best way in terms of detailing/cleaning to make these less visible so to speak (obviously respray is the best option but funds wont allow it!)
  25. UPDATE: So Ive got a quick update: 1. I ordered a Sat Nav cubby from WLMG Nissan - Pic attached. 2. My Nexus 7 has also arrived. 3. I performed the Bose hack just to get a feel for removing the dash etc - successfully done. Issues: 1. Upon initial inspection the nexus 7 will not fit directly into a sat nav cubby - It will most likely fit into a normal cubby thats been appropriatley hacked away, but I want to keep the stock feel so did not want to take this approach. 2. Upon opening the Nexus 7, the power buttons are small physical buttons attached by a ribbon to the mainboard. After consulting with some friends - theres no real easy way of routing the button However this can be rectified with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1187631 The other issues of it being portrait only etc are easily solved with a custom rom. Basically the Nexus 7 is a no go for my current setup - Luckily I needed a tablet for my commutes to work so it can be used there. So my search for a suitable tablet continues... @ashy3k - what tablet did you use for your build?
