  1. Just ordered a Cobra exhaust to replace my stock one which failed horribly and has died a rusty painful noisy death. Anyone on here give me a hint as to how much Admiral are going to gouge me for an aftermarket exhaust? Even though my understanding is it does nothing to the performance of the car, its just the back box and mid pipe I got by the way.

  2. Get a Scorp or a Cobra (if yout want a bit more noise) and you'll never look back.

Didn't really like the sound of the Scorp, I don't know whether it was the videos poor sound quality but its a little bit metallic and raspy, sort of cheap sounding and not to my taste. I did however splash out on a new resonated Cobra exhaust which will hopefully give me much happy motoring. In the mean time ill sit in my room and make brum brum noises.

  3. No worries there, a exhaust wont give you any extra power on its own, for that you need filter, plenum spacer, decats and an uprev. the exhaust is purely for noise :teeth:

the scorpion and cobra systems are y pipe back, not cat back... they just replace the centre pipe and the back box. A full cat back system replaces the y pipe as well, but that typically another £200-300 more.

I would worry that if the flange has gone to the backbox, do you also need a new y pipe? Anyways, if its a system thats just quieter than a K1 you're after, id go for a non resonated Cobra exhaust - i think Tarmac is your man for these

That Cobra system sounds lovely.......no the y-pipe seems fine and so is the mid-pipe, if I get the back box do I have to replace the mid pipe as well?? Seems a shame since the current looks fine. I think non-resonated is the way forward though!

  4. This is a very common thing to happen on Zeds.

You can get a Scorpion for circa £350 which is a full cat-back system I think.

You can also get Cobra exhausts for pretty cheap.

Tarmac and CS are the 2 traders here to ask

Ok, they say there is no such thing as a stupid question but I get the feeling I'm about to break that rule.....what's a full cat-back system? Is it the back box, mid pipe and y-pipe all together like a complete system or something else? I think only my back box needs replacing so do I get any benefit out of spending the extra cash? I'm mostly interested in how the car sounds rather then a performance increase. That's mostly because I'm a very shallow person.

  5.

So I've had the 350 for a month now and have loved every second of it however...............on a drive to Wales last weekend I noticed the exhaust developing a very deep (and nice) note. Oh dear. Had the car lifted this morning and the bloody flange on the side of the back box has completely severed itself from the rest of it. Could weld it back on but that's a temporary fix and I don't like temporary fixes, long and short of it I need a new back box. I suppose I could get the whole thing replaced but I'm saving up for new wheels so just a back box it is.

Money being tight can anyone recommend a good quality back box with plenty of grunt that's cheapish? I know these are very individual things so if it helps I'd like something just a tiny bit quieter then the K1 but without the giant cans sticking out the back. Many thanks in advance for the guru like knowledge that is going to overwhelm this post!

  6. PM's sit in your outbox until the person you have sent it to reads it.

So this means the person you have sent a PM to just hasn't read it yet.

Lots of advice on alloys in the "wheels" subforum.

Alloys will need to have a 5 stud 114.3 PCD. And then a suitable offset to clear the brembo's. ET20 is a pretty good stance for Zeds.

Oh, and be sure to buy staggered offset wheels - ie the rear wider than the fronts

Awesome answer, thanks very much  I haven't really heard of offset before, just so i can visualise the difference, whats the offset of the stock Rays? And what are the pro's and cons of having staggered offset wheels, aside from that it looks cool!

  7. I have a K1 japspeed exhaust up for sale soon and am after 2 ray alloys, a deal maybe?

Hmmm I'm tempted, though it would be ideal to get rid of all 4 with tyres, I haven't really got the space to have stuff lying around!! As an obvious idiot question would someone mind telling me how I can tell if a set of alloys will fit my 350z? Obviously some sites have a search function to filter non-fitting stuff but for others I haven't got a clue whether the dam thing would fit!

Additionally I've tried to send a PM to someone on this forum and its just sitting in my outbox folder instead of going to "sent". Is there some trick I'm missing here or am I just an utter lemming?

Running out of toilet paper here.

  8. Ok I've been reading and browsing all day and my bloody eyes hurt! A few questions that I can't find answers to and I'm hoping a guru of massive knowledge will help;

    1. How much can I expect to get for my v1 Track Rays with decent state Potenzas. (i know this is condition dependant so an approximate figure would be fine)

    2. I've see some decent alloys online that I like the look of but I'm wary of buying wheels that are extremely heavy since it will affect the performance of the car and I can't see the weight anywhere in the wheel description. Are there any particular brands or types that are reasonably light? Looking at 18" to 19".

    3. Finally is there a trusted trader, website or garage this community tends to use for wheels?

    I guess thats it! Cheers!

  9. Hello Everyone!

Had the joy yesterday of sitting in my very own 2006 350Z for the first time. I think I must have sat there like some sort of grinning idiot for 15 minutes just feeling smug! Even paying my road tax and filling the bloody thing up with premium didn't dampen that first drive south, icy roads and all. :yahoo:

This is my first rear wheel drive sports car and while I love the car there are two things I'd be quite keen to change. I'm not a fan of the stock rays (mine are in good condition) and would be looking to maybe part-exchange them for some different alloys.....I know people say keep the stock ones for resale but being in the forces I haven't got the space in my life to lug alloys around with me. So to that end could someone point me in the general direction of somewhere or someone who might be interested in part exchange? Also the same story with the exhaust but less of a priority. This seems like a very friendly community from the other posts I've seen so thanks in advance for the advice.
