  1. I have been monitoring mine for ages (half a year) recording all fill ups on an app and I fill the tank roughly once a week. Due to the number of miles I am doing (mostly on the mway) I have been driving conservatively and the computer claims 27.4 now. The app shows an average of 23 which is a massive difference.

    Dealers...

Looked at them but they are closed on a Saturday and I cannot really do mid week due to work (swindon) unfortunately

    Dealers...

Uk in Bristol. Is there a specific list of recommended places somewhere in here then? I did think based on the cost the dealer charged it would never support the price on resale but I want to make sure it gets looked after properly

    Dealers...

How important is it to get a service from a dealer vs an independent? I have the 72k service soon and the quote I have had for it came at £481 which seems somewhat OTT. I don't want to cut corners on the car service but equally given what little is actually done for the p3 nearly £500 seems well over the top. Is it ok to go to any reasonable garage or should I find a nissan prefered one or should it be a dealer? Cheers, Adam.
  5. That is a really kind offer cheers, unfortunately I am out until Sunday I will see if I can take a closer look (problem mainly being getting under it ) Re the dealership it was more to do with anyone with bad experiences & keeping the service book in line. The Platinum one is an option as it is open on Saturdays though...
  6. Having looked the local one is only open Monday to Friday which isn't ideal. Is there a reason no one has recommended the local wessex dealership? They of course are handily open all day saturday...
  7. Firstly, I am swiftly approaching the 72k service mark now that I am doing a 400 mile a week commute and wanted to know if anyone knew of places to get this done in/around Bristol. The one result that appears in the searches I have done is a Wessex Garage Nissan dealership but I haven't really found any reviews. Secondly, last week there was a bit of debris on the motorway that flew up into the underside of the car just under the front bumper & caused the damage in the attached pics. I was planning to ask the garage that does the service above to fix it for me but can anyone a) estimate the cost & identify what is broken and advise if it would be an easy diy job (with the knowledge that I know nowt about fixing cars & have no tools to do so). Cheers, Adam.
  8. Missed the earlier question, I am based in Bristol. by both belts are you saying alternator and power steering or alternator and air con as the earlier link had the latter two?
  9. Do you think it is a case new belts will be needed then or just tightened? Also if replacing is it best to replace multiple belts at the same time? I think one link I checked mentioned a power steering belt but it ended up being the alternator belt.
  10. Hi there, I have been getting a really high pitched squeal from the engine when starting the car up. It tends to disappear after 10-15 seconds (potentially/coincidentally it seems to go away quicker when I get in gear & start moving). I have had a look around online & the likely culprit is going to be the Alternator belt being loose. Everywhere seems to suggest this is quite easy to fix but given I have no tools & am a car noob I think I will get a garage to sort this. My questions are: - Could it be something else? - Will it cause an issue driving it in the meantime? - How much should I expect to be charged for a garage to fix it? Cheers, Adam.
  11. Is this still for sale? I saw the ad on Pistonheads but it has since disappeared.
  12. Any suggestions on the points above? Also how much stock/concern is a FSH with the a main dealer vs independents or specialists in your eyes?
  13. Cheers guys, (have been offline for a bit hence the delay). I will start reading through the provided links asap. Finally had the insurance come back on my car claim so I have a vague idea on what to spend and can start looking around but still am not sure vs pre or post 06, anyone have any epiphanies they could share with me regarding where to go. The benefits I can see of pre is the cheaper tax & most issues having been encountered & resolved. The benefits of post would be the better engine & potential warrently depending on how new. Also, re insurance on a 350z, I noticed there are some insurers that offer discounts but you needed to be a member of the site, what is involved in becoming a member? (i.e. have I done it by signing up or is there a annual fee/miniumum post level etc)?
  14. Cheers. Is there anything specific to look for when driving/visually inspecting one of them? I really do not know anything about mechanics etc What would you generally recommend an 07/08/09 plate version if affordable, or an earlier one. I guess with the newer ones common issues may still need to be dealt with & you have the more frequent servicing needs vs the older ones issues should have been dealt with but more things will be worn etc. I am coming from driving an FTO which is around 16 years old and has been really reliable as I understand most Jap cars are so am not adverse to getting an older one (and thus saving a bit on tax each year) but on the flip side I kinda fancy a newer car than I have had in the past but am completely undecided
  15. Hi there, I have been pondering buying a 350z for quite some time as an idle 'I kinda fancy one of those' thought, but having recently pranged my car and it likely being written off (despite pretty minimal damage...it is an import FTO so sneeze & an insurance co writes them off) those musings have changed into I need to get a new car. Everything I have heard/read about the 350z's have basically been pretty glowing so assuming when I have done a test drive or two I am still set on it I would love some advise. I have seen pre 2006 the tax bracket halves, is it worth in peoples opinions getting the newer engine (and newer car) over this yearly kick in the nuts? I have read some conflicting info (even on here) about petrol use and to stay away from any cars that have been fed 95 ron fuel VS 98 and given the number of cars about that I should just walk away if that isn't the case. Is there a definitive answer on that? Do the newer cars (06-09) have the same issues as the older ones (have read about feathering, noise from the rear of the car & cd jumping)? Do these cars eat clutches & if so how can you a) protect against that & keep said costs down? Are there any specific types of tyres that should replace the originals if the car I get still has them on or are the originals pretty good? I have read a bit about a number of people getting winter tyres for the cold months, is this a must for the 350z? I have never owned a RWD car before although have driven one about a bit. Cheers in advance
