  5. I managed to get from London to Keswick in the lakes (300ish miles) and about a quarter of the way back again with a few trips in between without taking the **** and hypermiling, so i'd have thought you could do it in one tank in around 5 1/2 hours. Of course the chances of you getting more than 10mpg on the day you pick it up are probably slim. Just enjoy it (legally) and get through 3 tanks

    Please dont say these things!

Haha, i was only meaning that you're unlikely to want to drive it sensibly on your first trip, you'll easily see 30MPG driving conservatively but i'm guessing that isn't why you bought the car? My point was; it's your first trip in a new car, so try not to worry about fuel too much and just get on with loving it. I like Wesmin's idea of making a trip out of it, how many chances are you going to get to do something like that with a good excuse?

The idea of a road trip is a great idea, but circumstances mean im traveling down there on my tod, and my flights at 7am, im gonna want to get up the road asap! I'll be taking it slow though, getting familiar with the cruise control! Im in not GREAT rush, i'll hopefully leave stansted around 9:30/10:00 am, so i have all day. Idealy, id like to pick the good lady up from work in glasgow at 18:00, but i might be pushing i for that!

Does it get much better than what im going to do on saturday? Seriously, 350+ miles in my new car, and all day to do it? :yahoo:

  15. AA inspection done today. Two small scratches, pads 50%, bluetooth adapator missing

Apart from that, everythings good. The mechanic said its immaculate, well kept, well serviced, no issues with it at all. Flights booked! Saturday i pick it up, looooooong drive home. Wonder if i'll enjoy it :teeth: 3 sleeps to go!!!!

Also, who do you guys use for your insurance? Best quote ive had has been with elephant, any suggestions?

Not long till Saturday :yahoo: I'm sure you will love her! I use Sky Insurance, they were the cheapest deal and were even willing to insure me with my GTR...which was a reasonable price too :)

Do you have a contact number for them mate?

  19. I used this marvellous new technology called goole maps:

6 and a half hours it reckons!

You actually go by google maps?

Your from glasgow? Try glasgow to edinburgh in google maps, that how long it takes you????

Now multiply that error by, say, 10!

I am from the Glasgow area, yeah. Google maps says from the centre go Glasgow to the centre of Edinburgh it would take an hour on the button. I think given the heavier traffic in both city centres an hour is about spot on.

Thats a fair point actually mate

Although i do think, with a bit of luck ofcourse, you can travel a bit quicker than google suggests! Knowing my luck, i'll be a bit slower. Im hoping for 7 hours if im honest.

You going with google yourself on this one? 6 1/2 hours?
