  1. 3. You have a mental list of friends whom you can't vist because their parking arrangements aren't up to scratch

    7. When your other half does drive the Zed, she phones you to say the Zed got their ok

    14. Taking 15 minutes longer to park than anyone else because you are looking for the absolute 'best' spot and not caring that you then have a mile and a half trek to the shops from your safe but extremely distant corner of the car park :p

    16. Your computer's desktop and iPad/iPod home screens all have pictures of your zed.

    20. When you park up and walk away but keep on looking back at your zed at different angles thinking god she looks good.

These are all true for us :D haha!

  2. Hahahaha great pics! :D Sorry we didnt get any, I was looking for a decent size & vacant enough car park on the way back but couldnt see any  Next time eh? :)

The ponies were well funny, loved the black one sticking its head in your car Pimm, didnt realise you got a mug shot with it haha

  3. Great to meet you all!! Had a really good day out, loved the drive over the moors :D Also loved the shock & awe look on some peoples faces as a group of 7 Zeds were driving down some random lanes lol!

Ponies were erm, interesting lol! They definitely seemed to like the taste of the Nissan Burgers  Also, everyone seemed to forget the downhill skateboarder display at the Forest Inn, that was interesting to see!

Still trying to figure out a few names to forum usernames, who was the kind chap in the modified grey Zed with the carbon roof who offered us his "Z" badge?! B)

  4. Sounds like you have an intermittent drop out of connection for some reason. Especially when you say "During the waiting period, if I try to view a page in another browser it is also delay and then they both load the page at the same time." sounds to me like your internet connection on the laptop (wireless/wired not sure) has dropped periodically and then all starts to work again?!

I would try the laptop connected via ethernet cable, and if it is already then try a different cable.

Also try using Google's DNS servers in your connection properties - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

  5. Im looking at doing this with my standard cubby. I think if I can get enough room it will work well as the lid of the cubby will shield the screen from sun glare. We'll see lol.

Anyway, are you using any software for a CarPC-like Front End on the Android device? I've been searching but cant seem to find anything decent. I know Centrafuse is the king, but thats only for Windows it seems (even though their site states it can be developed for ARM & Linux, so no reason there couldnt be an Android version  )

  6. I have been dont worry :) Its perfectly fine and hasnt even popped the stock 15A fuse under the bonnet. The Genesis only draws a MAX of 23A if all 4 channels are run at 2ohm or Bridged. Currently only using 3 channels as all Bose speakers are 2ohm and the Genesis isnt 2ohm stable in Bridged mode.

Things have changed a bit install wise now though as we are heading up to Modified Nationals this weekend to compete in dBDrag & Propper Droppers. Thrown one of my old RE Audio XXX15s in the back temporarily :D

  7. Just as an update to this, after some tweaking time with the amp the system sounds amazing! Much louder, cleaner & clearer than the stock Bose amp/HU combo. Plus I have the ability to change the sub woofer volume independently which is nice. Best thing though is that the small Genesis P4 amp runs without a hitch off the stock Bose power cabling :D

I have to say that despite most people slating the stock Bose system, I was really really impressed by it! Especially after adding a decent amp to the system, but even completely stock it is a good sounding system IMO! The sub hits hard and sounds nice for most normal music. When you consider how small it is and how it doesn't actually have an enclosure as such it works well! There are a few rattles but that's just Japanese cars in my experience lol, and can't be blamed on the audio!

  8. Interesting read :) I had the same problems after fitting my Alpine Headunit into the Zed. I've overcome it a different way though - fitted a spare Genesis Profile Four amp I had lying around, its now very loud, better SQ and I have complete control :D

This does make sense though, as when I was looking into all the wiring of the stock Bose amp, Headunit etc. I found that it uses high level outputs from the Headunit to the Amp as standard anyway. So converting it to RCA/Phono is bound to lower the output. I expect the reason the kits are made like this is that its a simple plug & play installation.

  9. Loving this!! :D

A car PC is on my to-do list currently for the Zed. But Android Tablets are definitely starting to become more appealing! I would still love a full blown PC though just for the extra possibilities, but there is a lot of extra cost & complications.

  10. I'll speak to my girlfriend as shes the real photographer and see what dates we have free. We would be happy to do any shoots though as long as it wasnt a massive distance away. Plus it would be great to meet some local Zed enthusiasts :D

What about doing it on the 24th June when we meet up Exeter way?

That sounds good to us :) Could always pop down to Exmouth for pics if the weather is good?

  12. My headunit already has 4V outputs tho  And the volume is only half the issue, the bass is severely lacking compared to with the Bose headunit, and no EQ rectifies it.

    Anyway... I've now managed to resolve this after finding a European Service Manual online :D (from Russia in the end haha!) For anyone else with an 03/04 MY who would like to know the wiring it is the following;

12v Power = Thicker Yellow with Red stripe

    Ground = Thicker Black

Remote = Green/Yellow (there are 2 of these, its the one nearer the edge of the plug)

    Front Left Positive = Blue/White

    Front Left Negative = Blue/Yellow

Front Right Positive = Light Green

    Front Right Negative = Black/Yellow

    Rear Left Positive = Orange

    Rear Left Negative = Purple

    Rear Right Positive = Yellow

    Rear Right Negative = Grey

I've now got the Genesis Profile Four running in place of the stock Bose amp(s). Im running my own dedicated speaker wire to the subwoofer, and have run RCA leads from my headunit. With gains set to minimum it is louder and clearer than the Bose ever was. It is blatantly obvious that the Bose has a LOT of automated EQ present though, in comparison to the flat EQ set up that I now have.

I hope this helps someone out in the future as it took me bloody ages to find the wiring haha!
