  1. Thanks Ian, please could you post up a picture showing detail of the "demon" flange.
  2. Thanks both. I understand the jdm exhausts sound a bit different to the uk ones. Is that right whats the difference. Ian thanks how you you find the noise on your k2. Would you agree its louder than standard.
  3. My backbox needs replacing on my 05 roadster. As the roadster has minimum sound insulation I don't want to risk intrusive cabin noise by putting on an aftermarket system. Getting a new OE system might not be financially worthwhile. I've been in touch with ZMANALEX and he's suggested I post up in here. So, if anyone has an OE exhaust in really good condition please could you post up how much you are looking for details, age, when it came off your car, and detailed pictures showing its condition (and in particular the places where it tends to rust through that would be appreciated). Thanks in advance.
  4. Is there someone who does nissan oe parts for prices lower than the stealerships?
  5. Alex cant help it would seem. How much is an oe box. Dont mind mild steel as such just dont want intrusive cabin noise.
  6. The backbox on my car is blowing in the usual place. Can someone suggest a place to get a fairly priced unit or an aftermarket unit that sounds pretty similar. Dont want a loud exhaust as its a roadster and I do not want intrusive cabin noise. Not interested in turning heads in the street with a meaty unit either. A mention of cost would be welcome also. My budget is "dont want to spend more than necessary" Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks all. I was thinking that a da might be the way forward. What pad and cutting compound combination did you use Zugara and did you remove the headlights from the car or da them in situ?

The headlights on my car are starting to get that slightly cloudy finish to the plastic outer that age seems to bring. Whats the established way of bringing them us nice again.
  9. @Nixy, thanks for your response. @Alex, what sort of cost are they and how much work is involved (for a professional mechanic - not me) to fit them? In general the concensus seems to be (i) get the tracking done with a good firm using lazer tracking (ii) have a look at the TSB to see what the tracking specs they set out there (I'll need to check against the tracking data on the forum and see if its the same) (iii) buy camber arms (although its been suggested that this can sometimes throw out the rear camber in sympathy).
  10. No, not lowered. So if the tracking is out how bad can the tyre wear be? How sensitive are the cars to this. This was pretty bad. Both wheels. Have a google and theres something from the US on the legal stuff - I found it pretty much straight away when looking for info on the subject. Its in the states (litigate on everything though), not the UK.
  11. Saw a 350 with heavy inside edge tyre wear. The central section and outside edge had loads of life but the inner edges of both front tyres (nearside slightly moreso) was just knackered. I've read on the net that this is a known issue and that even in the states there have been law suits on the subject. What causes it, can it be fixed/prevented, is it present on all Zs of a certain age. Advice appreciated.
  12. Sorry M13KYF, I'm not having much luck with that. Can you provide?
  13. Is there a way to check the condition of the dampers when they are still on the car? Is there a typical number of miles/years when they start to wear out?
  14. I'm wondering what colour code the Rays should be refurbished in. The car is a black roadster. I'm thinking a dark anthracite maybe. If anyone has any pictures of this or pictures of other colours they think would look nice please let me know. My style is, understated, simple is beautiful, etc
  15. Well, its a "cheap as chips" thing to try. If you guys think its worth the time effort I will give it a roll!
  16. Thanks for the info GT4. The car is a 2005. Assume that means the ARB is as good as its going to get? So the £270, is that parts only or parts including fitting (inclusive maybe)?
  17. What parts would be necessary to put a 50k mile car back to the point where it felt pretty new. Not interested in replacing things for the sake of it, but would like to identify the key wear components which have most impact on handling and ride. If you could list them and specify a rough cost for the part and whether it is a 15 min, 30min, or 45 min job for a decent mechanic to fit (and which ones of them can be done together without incremental time spent) that would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. Is the sound quality not poor with the 3.5 mm jack? It never seems to work for me but other people have said they think its OK.
  19. Is it possible to connect a reader which will connect an MP3 flash drive to be played (and controlled) through the Bose system. Most cars seem to have some sort of suitable emulator. I have seen the one for the iPod, but I don't Ipod!
  20. Thanks Martin. Yes, that was the chap I had in mind. Not the same car though, so it's not the bloke I have been talking to. The model of car I currently own are often cheap to buy but can be really expensive to run if you buy the wrong one. This means that the people who have nice examples tend to have armfulls of paper history going back years, receipts to support service book stamps, all previous MOTS, maintenance by specialists etc. Quite a few of the cars I've looked at are serviced by the local Nissan dealer, don't have all the MOTs, slightly incomplete documentation history etc. Am I being too paranoid? Is it the case that, given we are talking about Nissan here, there are not a plethora of things that might be about to go wrong and that therefore specialist servicing and anal paperwork is just not as common. Have I (i) just not found the right car yet or (ii) I'm shopping at the less expensive end of the market and although they are nice cars they are not the best of the marque. Any thoughts welcomed.
  21. Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm trying to remember a user I saw yesterday. His image pic has some light letters at the top referring to his Z and red letters at the bottom talking about his new Aston. There is a split sig pic showing both cars. Can someone remind me of his handle - there's a car I'm looking at where someone claims to have replaced with an AM Vantage, just wondering if its him. Otherwise sounds like a reasonably tall claim! Cheers
  22. Hi, Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a potential new owner looking to buy my first 350z (probably a <2005 soft top). I currently own a Fiat Coupe Turbo Plus but feel the need for a normally aspirated, high displacement two seat, RWD soft-top. I'd be grateful if people could point me toward the buyer's guides / information about what to look for when choosing the right car. I'm not a mechanic by any strech, but I have a rudimentary grasp of the technical components. Thanks Steve
