  1. I always love reading what people say about the motor trade when they obviously know nothing about it!

If you want to know just a little bit of truth.

    general dealer markup is 20%.

there will always be more margin in a vehicle the dealer bought at trade rather than a customers trade in. If you can establish which it is you will have a greater ability to bargain with the dealer.

they are not trying to pull your pants down, they are making a living, if they were actually robbing everyone blind they would be retired by now.

Dealers pay 20% VAT on the profit they make. Most people dont ever think about this and slate the dealer for trying to make a fortune.

CAP and glasses are trade guides, they are prices often based on what a car would make at auction or a sale to the trade (especially CAP). Dont assume the value you might get shown is what your car is worth, its worth what the dealer is willing to pay.

Dealers do also get it wrong, more often than you might think and can loose thousands on a bad deal.

last but not least, if you think a dealers job is easy then give it a try yourself and see how many sleepless nights you suddenly have...

  2. I got bored of ios and having already had android i opted for a windows phone. Probably the biggest waste of a 400 quid phone you could ever have. Looks great, works fast but is probably 5 years behind ios and android. They havent even got a fully functioning ebay and facebook app yet!

As soon as im in a position ill be going back the other way again which is a shame because the 5 percent greatness of this phone is overshadowed by the 95 percent dross!

  3. I was also told of a change to the part recently although when I swapped my oil filter off the part number was just the same as the last one so I don't know if the number has supposed to have changed or just an updated part.

:pmzmanalex: it was him that told me about the update

  4. I've also had a similar experience but in my case the seller claimed it was tested working before they sold it when it clearly doesn't. The seller did respond to my PM's but isn't remotely interested in resolving the situation so I've just accepted I've been burned this time around!

Fortunately for me it wasn't hundreds of pounds but it still bites.....

  5. Pairing is only for the central locking.

it might need to be programmed at the dealer or could even be missing the chip.... Keys and programming at dealers is expensive. If its a UK car I'd probably be bartering for a few hundred off the price or at very worst have them get it sorted.

If its an import then getting keys sorted is even worse!

  6. Don't forget offset is also relative to the width of a wheel. a 20 offset will have a different outcome to arch gap on an 8 inch wheel to that of a 9 inch wheel. (as its measured from the centre of the wheel)

  7. For such an iconic colour I'm surprised to find that no one has yet done a midnight Purple II (or III) 350z. please do prove me wrong, I'd love to see the outcome!

Its something that keeps spinning around in my mind from time to time but research says it wouldnt be a cheap job with the paint being pretty specialist and expensive. Is it really just too much money and hassle for a 350z?

I wondered what your thoughts are? are there any better colours to do if its going to be different or would MPII be the way forward?

    Cheers

    Kev

  8. I tend to buy jdm because for the same or less money you can get a much cleaner car underneath.

although not the case with the 350z jdm cars usually have more toys too.
