Brian Leighton at Howden is who I use, as does my wife and her employers (Land Rover / Nissan).
I recommend them.

SOLD
I am selling my Z, for no reason other than I need more seats. I am advertising here only - as I'm not in a rush to sell.
It's looked after, cleaned, well maintained, and only filled with Tesco Momentum. I average 25.6mpg.
It is currently on a private plate, which will be removed before sale (not sure how long this takes). The car is used daily for work, so expect the mileage to increase. I've recently had the engine fans replaced at Nissan (receipt to prove) - This cost £800! (and has 12months warranty from June)

Morning.
I've had a strange drone noise coming from the front wheel over the last few weeks.
Nissan had a look today, and confirmed its the wheel bearing. £452 fitted they've quoted.
It needs doing, I know, but what's the worst if I leave it for another month/1,000 miles?
Also, anywhere cheaper? I'm not mechanically confident so can't do myself.

If these are still available, please PM me.

Spotted yesterday, around 5.30 near Shiptonthorpe. You waved, I couldn't lift my hand quick enough.
I don't see many Zs around my way.

I have something similar on mine, not as bad as that, but a few spots here and there, Nissan dealer agreed with me that it's under warranty and has put the claim in motion. It'll take a long long time though, Nissan HQ are in no hurry to pay out. But I think there are a few members on here who have claimed and got new bonnets because of similar corrosion.
I would be getting back at them and asking them to define what exactly warrants a claim. Are they suggesting the car can corrode and shed all it's paint, but if there is no holes, it's ok?
What you and I and many members have is the earlier stages or corrosion before it eats right through the metal, it's only a matter of time. Besides it doesn't cost the dealer anything, HQ supplies the replacement parts and should be compensating the dealer for any work undertaken.
Well, I took my car to Nissan Howden (Brian Leighton Garage) on 14/07/2012. They took photos, and submitted to HQ.
Got a phone call today, the claim has been declined. As there is no hole, they won't cover the repair costs.
The garage have offered me a repair/respray at £300+vat. As I've got a couple of light scratches here and there, I'm going to get them all touched up too.

Anyone fancy meeting for their RWYB 5th August?
I've been there before (not with this car).
-
I might be popping down again this year.
Only 10 miles from me. Usually a great day.

On a side note, that looks like quite a bit of corrosion on the very front near side of the bonnet? Get it down to your local Nissan dealership and put in a warranty claim, it's 12 years on the Zed.
I was just told my Nissan, that unless there's corrosion from the inside, and a 'hole' in the bodywork, the warranty can't be used.
-
Awesome picture that. I dont have one,and was just going to paint the metal bit black to hide it abit better. Where did you get your stick on plate from? I got one from Craigs plates, and it was a pain to stick on,as a result, its lifting already in the middle.
It's a standard plate, held on with double sided foam pads.

Wow, really? I'll get in touch with them today. Thanks.

Should there be a tow cover on the front?
It's always bugged me seeing the metal bracket, so I assume it's missing something, like a cover?
If so, where can I get one?
-
Awesome job How long did it take you?
About 5 hours.
Fantastic!!! Are those photos unedited????
All I've done it up the clarity and reduce the saturation.
I'd go beyond great work and say outstanding work!
I bet you HATE the scratch on your rear bumper though
I sure do. There's one on the front wing too (harder to see). The previous owner did these, and I've always wanted to have them repaired, just not got round to it.

Thanks for the comments
Wow!!
haven't heard of Prima Amigo before - it looks interesting - how did you apply it?
Applied on a foam pad (Meguiars) by hand, and buffed off with a MF cloth. Very easy to remove.

Last week I decided to buy some new Zaino goodies (amongst others) and give the Zed a going over.
I planned on claying but due to time, I realised I wouldn't have finished everything, so missed that until next time.

It spent the night in the garage, and I took the photos this morning before work.

Sounded and looked very nice.
Today (Saturday) around 4pm, I was in the Gunmetal behind.
-
To be honest, I'd had it looked at by an Indi, to be told nothing was wrong.
Then it overheated again.
Nissan are expensive, but for peace of mind it's got 12 months warranty, and I need the car for work.
-
That's my Mother-in-law's partner's Z.

Update.
Long story short. Took car to Nissan in the end, £800 for fans/motors, fitted Friday.
Car is working as usual again
-
I've asked how much all in for fans/fitting.
I've just been told £1k. Seems steep?
-
You're going to have to help me, he's quoted £550 for the fans (I assume this is 2 fans with 2 motors)
Your price is £200 per motor (£400 for 2). What's required to fit the motors to the fans, as the difference is £150.
-
Can I have some more advice please
I still don't have the car back, and I've been told today that it's "both cooling fan resistors, need new, aprox £550 just for fans".
Does this sound right? If the 'resistors' have gone, I'll need new fans?
Moving house tomorrow, this is all I need.

In my last car the slave cylinder was the cause. Get it sorted as soon as you can, as eventually it'll stay down; and you'll be stranded waiting for a low-loader to take you home
