I think you are right Martin, this is the key thing in my mind, if you can use your own sourced parts, you should be laughing. I am glad to help out myself but not sure anything I specialise in will be of use to you! Yes i can get it reapired anywhere i like and can use any parts i like. All it needs is to pass a engineers inspection once its done and the insurance will pay out. Only prob is i dont know how much if any of the money i will get up front to source parts, could be a problem as the car has already skinted me out, im sure theres options out there tho.

Yeah i havent had a decnt quote for wheel and tyre package yet. Although i only need 3 it will probably be cheaper and easier to get 4. Defo want the same wheels i think although i may be swayed by other options if the price is right. I need to find out what offsets the ones i had were as they were perfect looks wise. Any help Andy or other traders will be appreciated, just pm me some options if ya want.

Yeah ive had a gut feeling all along that would write it off. They cost of parts from Nissan just take the ****. Just peopl be careful with what they do with there cars as it dont take much to write one off, especially at todays value on the cars.
-
The total cost of the cars purchase, all the mods ive done and the price to have the kit fitted and sprayed comes to around 36K. Option D will mean the car is no longer classed as a write off and will mean if i can get fixed for the money im allowed to spend via the insurance company it wont owe me a penny more than what ive already payed out.

Heres a quick update. Spent quite a long time on the phone with the engineer (was a really top guy who offered me loads of advice) and the bodyshop. I have the quote that the bodyshop sent the engineer. The quote has been based on a worse case scenario and so some parts wont be required but the unfortunate bit is i wont know what is and what is not needed. Ive managed to get the engineer to up what he valued my car on based on the sales of similiar ones in the past. We also went through the list of parts the bodyshop quoted and managed to rule out £3K worth of parts which he agreed were "excessive". Unfortunately it still didnt come close to a figure at which he would deem econimical for repair. Based on the new figures im looking at the following 4 options: A) take £14k now and say goodbye to the car. This isnt really a viable option for me as i would loose 20K straight off and wouldnt get a car anywhere near as desirable as the car. Take the car back and get a cheque for £7280 but the car would always be classes as a Cat C write off. The only implication with this is it would dramatically reduce the value of the car and my insurance company would need a engineers report before they would insure the car again. C) i could take the £7280 and then sell the car as is. I could probably get more than 14K total this way but would be in same situation as option a. D) Enter into a contract with the isurance company for contract repair. Means the insurance would pay upto 9K for the repair on my car. Option D seems to be my best options for now as from conversations with traders and friends in the know i should be able to get it sorted for 9K, and perhaps to a better standard than the original. However im not rushing into anything and need to fully understand what the terms of a contract repair are. I would also like to mention that the traders on here have been really great, CS, Chilli and Lee have all been fantastic with their offers, as said before they are a real credit to these forums and striaght up nice geniune people. There is no chassis Damage. All the damage is to suspension parts. Having spoke to the bodyshop breifly its clear how quickly they come to that value. I havent got a full list of parts required yet but here is a few high priced items that stand out: They valued my wheel at £1000 per wheel and tyre and it needs 3 wheels, so i guess they make that £3000. Bonnet and bumper will be around £1200 It needs a power steering pump whihc RRP is £800 +Vat So already we are at £5000+ and thats not even looking at the other suspension parts we knew needed replacing, fitting and spraying. Im sure i can get it fixed for the amount the insurance company will give it back to me based on a contract reapir, just gonna take time to source the best parts etc. But the bright side is with the knowledge and traders on these forums will help me get the best i can.
-
Yeah Chirs and Martin, its based on RRP on the parts and we all know how inflated Nissan parts are. Im hoping theres light at the end of the tunel. I have requested a copy of the inspection report so i can work out exactly what parts i need to source.

sorry just realised I posted wrong section, admin please move somewhere.

Feel really down at present but i thought id keep you posted. Engineer just phoned me to confirm they have infact written my car off due to uneconimical loss. Got too work out figures and stuff but at first glance it looks like this: Bodyshop quote to reapir vehicle is £16,800 Based on insurance company only valuing car at £12000 (which i have to convince otherwise) i would be able to by the car back for £6240 giving me the rest of the money to try reapir. However i can do a contract repair which is where the insurance company gives me a sum towards the repair, this sum being around £7750 and i get someone to repair it. This also stops it being declared as a CAT C write off. These figures may change if they agree to value the car higher but its still gonna be a write off in terms of my insurance paying out fully for reapirs. Have asked for a full inspection report so i can work out what parts are needed. Just hope i can find a resolution which doesnt involve losing over 20K on this car.
-
Just phoned them again. The engineer did visit my car and apparently needs to talk to me regarding the report. As always the calims department were unable to get hold of him but they advised me to ring back this afternoon to discuss the report. Have no idea if thats good or bad, they probably want to ask me about a few mods. So more waiting it seems

Havent heard from the engineers but i hope they did go out to the car today, Will give them a ring tomorrow and hopefully they will have a update if not i feel another arse kicking coming on. Seriously tho i do hope they fix cars quicker than they inpsect, if i miss Wales for a second time i will be well pi**ed off.

What made you walk away from the Z you didn't buy?

Knowing i was gonna pit a full VS kit on the one i bought put me in a strange situation. I was looking for a silver or black Zed (to make painting easier) and i didnt care what the outside condition was like. I viewed a few over a period of 3 weeks and turned em all down mainly due to the state of the interior. Then finally saw one on eBay that looked tidy, drove 150 miles to view it, thought id hit the jackpot as it was immaculate. Haggled the bloke down a bit and drove it home, result -
