  1. Had my car a few weeks now and it seems to be coming together.

Fitted my milltek a couple of weeks ago at rs tuning when i had the uprev done.

Fitted my wheels this week. They are 9x19 fronts and 10x19 rears (245/35) (275/35)

Spent sunday giving the car its first detail since i bought it.

As you can see in the photos its not sitting quite right at the back so ive ordered some teins from Horsham, should be here this week.

  2. Fitted my new wheels this week (19"x8" 19"x10")

They look good but they seem to make the gaps in the arches a little too big for my liking.

I have my tein s tech 17/14 springs coming tuesday hopefully.

Even though it might not seem necessary i would like the car properly aligned after fitment.

Can anyone recommend or knows of somewhere near to me (york/doncaster/hull) thats up to the job.

There is a volvo dealer in malton that the evo lads use but i have no knowledga of what to look for.

    Any help would be appreciated,Thanks.

  3. My vts has headwork/cams/custom map/manifold/scorpion with de-cat.

I bought it with printout for 157bhp and i have since added a better exhaust manifold.

The best thing i have done is the S1 rallye gearbox.

160bhp isnt too hard, its getting beyond this thats the problem.

Doesnt matter now anyway because its sat in the back of the workshop gathering dust next to my saab 93.

  4. 2004 uk car

    Rs tuning

    dyno dynamics

    uprev/plenum spacer/hks drop in/milltek with Y pipe/standard cats.

    Before 283.7bhp/260 torque

    After 292bhp/275 torque

    Shell v-power

25 lb ft torque gain at 2600rpm tailing off to 10 lb ft throught

  5. Had my car 2 weeks,done 500 miles.

I re set it when i left the showroom.

Its reading an average speed of 29 with 23.9 mpg.

Not much traffic around here so im never sat idling.

I try to be gentle on my daily commute but its not always easy

Im gonna re set it when i leave rs after my uprev on tuesday to get a 500 mile comparison before and after.

  6. My insurance states my 2004 uk car as 287bhp.

Filled in the number plate part of the quote and thats what came up,I tried altering the car spec but it was always 287.

I had obviously only just got the car and as i wasnt sure about power i left it at that.

  7. Always take someone with you when carrying cash and dont let the seller know you have some with you untill you are satisfied they are trustworthy. This obviously doesnt apply with dealers but they will take payment by debit card anyway.

A good friend of my dads who is an ex rugby player in his 50s went to collect a car from a private advert, the seller said he would collect him from the station and take him to the car.He was collected as discussed but was taken out of town where another car was waiting in a layby. He was robbed at knifepoint of £6000 in cash.

The seller continued advertising cars but the police were not prepared to put a plain clothed officer posing as a buyer with cash

    incase the officer was stabbed!

    Nothing was done.

This was quite recently and he is still shaken up.

I have never had any problems like this myself but if you are travelling a long way to view a car the best thing to do is both parties go to a bank and transfer the money and get the keys and log book signed while you are there.

  8. Been round a tree in my 1st cossie, wont do that again, tried the old skandinavian flick at 100mph and couldnt catch it when it snapped back.Lucky to be here.

Ive learned my lesson and managed to keep the next one (400hp rwd) in one piece for 3 years.

The 350 is very manageable in comparison.

The biggest difference is that in the sierra you know you're doing 150,in the z you dont.

  9. Dont want to change at the limiter,It sickens me every time i do it,the rev counter is deceiving and in my opinion should have 1000rpm less on it.Ive kept away from it now i know whats what.

The car seems quicker now im being a bit braver,my girlfriend said i was driving miss daisy the first few days.

  10. Hks filter arrived today.Old standard filter looked very dirty considering the service history shows 2 services in the last 3000 miles.

Anyway its in the bin now,2 mods in my 1st week, thats it for now.Cant wait for tuesday :D

Spending some money.......I thoght the cossie was expensive :scare:

    £11000 car

    £150 plenum spacer

    £40 filter

    £800 exhaust

    £70 fitting

    £470 uprev

£110 fuel so far (380 miles)

    £12640

Not too bad really considering i was looking at tatty 25 year old porsches for more money.

Started to stretch its legs a bit now, seems to start pulling hard at around 4k,set the shift light at 6400 rpm as i hit the limiter twice in third,Im finding this setting gives me enough notice to change up.

  11. Just having a poke around in the bay of my new car when i fitted my plenum spacer and noticed the air inlet is not particularly well placed.

I have seen other cars with the carbon vent fitted in the bumper and it can only be an improvement.

I was a bit concerned about water ingress when it rains but if it was offset it would be fine.

Anyone fitted the vent or something similar with the standard air box?

  12. Managed to get a plenum spacer from horsham. As an added bonus he let me have it at the recent group buy price.

It arrived next day (Friday),so i thought while the weather was good i would fit it after work.

Not too bad really took about 1 1/2 hours to do on my own.

Not been far with it fitted but didnt expect to feel anything different as this is the only mod i have at the moment.

I will say though it does feel a bit sluggish but its maybe in my head!

Looking forward to my milltek system and uprev on the 17th.

Anyone any reccomendation with regards to panel filters,I was getting the cosworth one from horsham but he hasnt any at the minute.

  13. If you can,buy from a garage or dealer.

You can still haggle on price as these big engined cars only appeal to a few of us (not families) and the dealers cant shift them as easily.

If you buy from a garage you will have some comeback and ask about warranty (at least 3 months)

They will have also done a hpi check before they bought the vehicle in.

My car was sensibly priced but i still got £1000 off at a dealer.

You will get a gt for the money and as said above you should aim for a uk car with history.

If the right car seems too far away try to think that £50 on train fares or petrol might be money well spent if you get there and its what you want.If its not dont buy second best just because its local.

  14. Got my new car booked in at rs tuning in Leeds today.

Its not 20 miles from me, so they are my obvious choice.

Having a full milltek system from the cats back fitted at the same time before mapping.

Its booked in for the 17th thanks to a cancellation.

Read good things on here about them and they seemed very knowledgable over the phone.

Im keeping the standard airbox and filter as there is nothing wrong with these.

Hope it goes well with the uprev mapping, not after silly power but removing the limiters and a better fuel map should maybe see a bit more than i have now.

I will ask him to do a run with the standard exhaust if he has time as a comparison with the milltek.
