  1. To be honest your best bet is to take things easy.

    1. Do your brakes

    2. Save some cash

    3. Pick the items you desire as you go along

Modding the zed is expensive (just take a look at my costs in the garage section) but with careful thought and preparation you'll have done your research, listened to the exhausts and cats you like and then be in a firm decision of where you want to make the next move.

To cover the lowering issue get the Tein's. No

Need for ANY adjustment, fit and go. You get the look. As well as the spring rate and that's done for £150 or less depending if you can find second hand.

Zorst - listen to different options. I'd recommend my setup, but I would, but in terms of cost it's a lot more than just HFC's. Again the sound will be the ultimate decision.

    Mods thereafter are cosmetic.

Uprev, is good, makes the car more responsive but should be added after air in/out mods have been done. Get yourself to a local or major meet before spending your cash and chat and experience other Zeds. That's what I did. So far there's been only 2 mods out of 49 that I have bought that I have changed, because I did my homework and worked out what suited me.

Take your time and don't rush

thanks and will do! best comment so far

  2. I have an electric supercharger that Ebay Promises will give you an extra 100BHP, I will sell it to you for only £1499... Bargain

In all seriousness get yourself some Berks HFCs and a remap. The noise from the HFCs is lovely and the remap really fattens up the midrange :#1:

Must be the same place I got my super air filter that gives an extra 50 HP

  3. Dunno why you think why you "need" this all, surely it depends on what you feel the zed is lacking?

As doc has said, I think it handles and stops pretty well out of the box, though proper pads do make a fair bit of difference.

I didn't get on with the berk hfcs on the nismo, but i'm sure they sound better on the oem exhaust.

I'm tempted by stiffer arb's, but I think that would probably just ruin the suspension if it was all on its own and since mine isn't a track car I don't see the point of the rest.

by "need" i actually mean want!

I have to get some new brakes as mine are worn out, and i thought i might spend a bit extra on her and wanted to choose wisely. No specific aim, some bits are for looks some are for handling, i see no point trying for HP gains as the cost is great for small amounts but i have since, possibly, changed my mind on this. This is due to the change in the feel a uprev gives. Think i will still go down the handling side though

  4. thinking of dropping the lowering springs as the camber adjusters and springs come to neally half my budget :scare: Unless someone else has a way of reducing the costs, therefore i could go with Berks HFC, dont really want to replace exhaust as that will also be a big cost. May have to spec down the replacement brakes and pads i require, to free more cash :headhurt:

I may just make up two options and put it to the vote! Too many decisions :bang: Basically i NEED it all, :byebye: cash

  5. the nuts sre of ebay

    tips

i aint tight but i do not like over spending. many will mod a car by spending thousands, buy all the bits and stick em on.

i like to do things simply and subtley, i buy second hand where i can, the wheels for example.

im not into body kits or spoliers, a clean car will look better than a dirty one too.

i have bought a £20 gear nob not an £80 one etc etc

the seats for example, were £550 delivered, if i had to i would get £300 for the old ones, hence the mod has cost me £250.00

Are non of them locking nuts?

  6. Not because I sell them but purely putting myself in your position.

    Spacer

    Berk HFCs

    Stillen Ypipe

    Cobra Exhaust

Can do that lot for £1200 or £1150 if you want a Cobra Ypipe

With the balance get a Re-map

No brainer for me if I had a Zed and the spare cash, no one will argue that this won't change the feel of your car and put a big grin on your face.. :drive1

Upgrading your brakes and handling is the sensible mod but with the package above plus a remap your OEM set up is more than capable providing your not tracking or driving like a looney.

It's interesting seeing peoples comments though, some good options to think about

What sort of gains can I expect to see? 15hp? As I have the HR engine I (looks like wrongly) thought the spacer wouldn't do much. Normally I wouldn't go down the brakes and handling route. But either way I need new discs as mine need replacing. As I'm not tracking I'm not bothered about super dooper ones. So maybe that's an option. I am leaning to the lowering springs and Possibly sway bar as I have heard good things

i was a little unsure of the Gold nuts, but i thought black or silver was boring and i hoped the gold would match the calipers.

    thoughts

Love the nuts  where can I get a set! Car looks ace :cloud9: looking at doing a few mods myself (no where near your standard) if you have any tips!

  8. +1 on braided lines, make a great difference for very little outlay. Prob one of the best value mods that you notice the difference

Ok due to numbers of people saying this it is added to list, also pads and discs changed, but, hopefully for the small cost i will keep the spacers unless they are detrimental to something else.

Spacers will increase the scrub radius of your front wheels. Although the exact effects of this seem to be up for debate ( most suggest reduced high speed turn in response), most people believe it to be a bad thing. To be honest unless you're tracking the car it seems unlikely that you'd notice much, but they're not going to improve your handling if that's what you're thinking.

Just thought it made the wheels fill the archers better really, very vein! not looking for track spec, just fancy making it "feel" better. This is because I cannot get big bhp gains! I was also tempted to get a uprated exhaust but cannot afford it in my budget with other parts as well.

  9. SuperPro ARB and Compression Bushes

Y Pipe (Motordyne) with race cat

    De-cats

    Coilovers

    Sway Bars

    Disks and pads as recommended

    Braided hoses and Motul fluid

    Panel filters

You won't need adjustable drop links unless you're tracking the car.

In addition you'll struggle with your budget, that's if you were looking for a garage to fit parts as well

Just thought I needed them if I was dropping the car. So thts some money saved if I don't :)

  11. Ok, the time has come, I have resisted for too long, I am going to mod my car ... maybe! :scare: Before spending time and money, I thought I would run the mods past everyone for comment. Before someone states, :pmzmanalex: , or read other threads, I have done both. The mods below, I think will give me the best improvements to my car. I am trying to source these parts, preloved, if possible to keep costs down, so if anyone knows someone who is selling PM me details. I am currently running a completely standard 2008 coupe GT. The car is only going to be used on the road, no track use ... yet!

    1. New Front Discs + Pads (Ferodo DS 2500 pads + DBA T3 rotors) - required

    2. New Rear Discs + Pads (Ferodo DS 2500 pads + DBA T3 rotors) - required

    3. Eibach Sway bar kit

    4. Eibach pro spring kit

    5. Eibach camber adjustment kit front

    6. Eibach camber adjustment kit rear

    7. Adjustable drop link kit

    8. Stubby aerial

    9. Luggage net

    10. Front spacers (20mm)

    11. Rear spacers (25mm)

    12. Cosworth Air Filter

    13. Braided Break Lines (HKS or Goodridge)

    14. Motul RBF 600/660 fluid

Minus item 1 and 2, which I have to change anyway I think, these are the best mods / items to buy for your 350z. Does anyone disagree with me? Bearing in mind I am expecting this to cost around £1600, with some / mostly second hand parts. Has anyone got a better way of improving a N/A car for £1600, or different makes of the items listed?

I look forward to being corrected :boxing:

  12. Thanks,

I will phone them and see if I can get it reduced. Dont suppose anyone has any pics of gray wheels on a night blue 350. i have tried to find one but cant. think it should look good but it would be nice to know.

any reviews on "the wheel specialists", good or bad

  13. thinking of getting this done, on my standard rays. I have been quoted £400 from "the wheel specialists" in Nottingham. Three questions,

    1. Anyone dealt with these guys before?

    2. Is this a good quote? Wheels are in good condition.

    3. Should I be worried about power coating? Heard conflicting statements about it.

    Thanks

  14. looking to get some spacers for my 08 350z (in case that matters)

    Eibach 20mm seems popular ?

Also looking to lower it as well

    Eibach pro kit seems popular?

Is there anything I am missing? Heard people talking about alignment kits as well, how do I know if I will need them?

So with that what sort of costs am I looking at?

    Spacers - £200

    Springs - £200

    Alignment kit - £???

    Fitting - £???

Pm prices if you have any!

Oh and before some else says it

    :pmzmanalex:

  15. i heard if you look into the statistics i think you will find women have, on average, MORE crashes than men. However, these are normally low speed bumps :bounce: where as men tend to have bigger, more expensive crashes :drive1.

I'm not passing judgement either way but i believe there should be stats to say the cost to the insurance company against age, sex etc so they can see where there bigest liability comes from and price policy's accordingly
