  1. Winding this back a little, you say the ESP anti skid warning light came on - this would explain the slight hesitation. Could be the hesitation is being caused by the ESP kicking in rather than throttle bodies and camshaft sensors. I had the same experience with my 2005 350z, started with the odd hesitation when travelling at a constant speed but then became more pronounced - accompanied by the ESP light coming on. Turn ESP off and the problem disappeared. In my case I discovered the front wheels were out of alignment and the nearside tyre had worn considerably more than the driver side. Took the car in for a four wheel alignment (best £50 I have ever spent) and put two new tyres on - problem solved. My 350 is now on 149,000 miles and drives impeccably.

As with lots of marques, error codes can often be very misleading and are the delight of many main dealers because they just keep replacing the parts. Some errors can be instigated due to a small voltage fluctuation - i.e. the fault is not necessarily permanent nor does it require a part to be replaced. Many owners have experienced the airbag light coming on and it can be reset very easily, my engine management light has come on from time to time and I just reset the codes with a simple OBD reader. If there is a genuine fault the warning light will come back on immediately and will require further investigation.

I suggest you just try switching off your ESP (just don't floor it when exiting bends, might end up facing the wrong way) and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away then consider the cheapest option first, tyres and wheel alignment - my guess is this will cure it.

  2. Having a similar issue. Have been rolling on 20 inch wheels for over a year with no issues. Fitted new tyres in February, all good but noticed excessive tyre squeal at low speed when turning right. Took the car for a four wheel alignment, rear was ok but the front was out quite a bit. A few days later I had the nasty experience of the esp light coming on in the middle of a right hand bend and the car trying to correct a problem that wasn't there. Cannot reproduce the problem in left handlers and it only happens when you in the bend taking your foot off the accelerator, if you stay on the throttle it does not happen. I switched off the ESP and tried again, right hand bend, foot off the brake, problem gone. Tried again but this time applying the brake and everything went messy like the ABS was trying to correct things when there was nothing to correct.

Visit to the garage, no errors showing, no visual damage to the ABS ring but what I did notice was the way the front near side tyre had worn to the inside edge - down to the wear bar - could this be the problem?

  3. If you still have them can I have the radiator guards? My Wife did not do too well in the snow this morning ( well she did ok thank goodness, it was the car that didn't) and a low speed impact to the front driver side has ruined the bumper, rad guards, washer bottle and washer bottle pipes have been severed.

  4. That would be me, I live in Betws y Coed and my son works at the track. I was there because I look after the website for the Super 1 Series. Saw the wheel cover on the Freelander!!

Good day until I got back to my car - somebody had reversed into it, nice scuffs on the front bumper and a ruined number plate!!!!

    Didn't see anything did you?

  5. Just want to let people know about a great deal to be had on Blue Flame exhausts. I had a full system fitted - Y section, mid section and back box - for less than £500. Looks really good and with the (optional) centre silencer sounds subtley muted at low revs but emits a crisp tone the higher you go. An exhaust you can live with. Performance seems improved , right through the rev range the car is more responsive and it has a bit more of a kick in the higher rev range (5,500 plus).

Even if there isn't one listed just get in touch - the guy makes them.

  6. Looks like I will have to give in and buy a couple of arms. Its true that the light knocking has become more pronounced since the banana arm bushes were replaced. The suspension setup on the Z is a whole new ball game to me, had lots of issues with balljoints in the past on other cars (usually the steering knuckle joint) where both symptoms and cause were both more apparent.

    thanks for the advice
