  1. Check for the clicking axle, it happens when reversing or picking away, Make sure you have the windows down. Check the breaks, and oil, airfilter. Check the service history is upto date. Check the tires for wear on the insides as this is a common issue. Try and blag a new set and get the allignment done.

done all of that mate thanks  did it before we signed for it. The tires were the only thing that bothered me, not because they were worn, but because they are Sunew YS618's all round! :scare: I tried to get them to put decent shoes on but they were having none of it as all four corners were brand spanking new!

those will be coming off as soon as the mrs gets enough together for the falkens.

are there any other checks we should be doing before driving off in it?

  2. Hey all,

My Girlfriend and I are handing over the cash for her newly aquired 04 plate GM Zed up on saturday morning, just wondering what you guys think i should check when we get there?

we have agreed to have the wheels refurbing to remove the corrosion, so that will need checking.

Also agreed to have the stonechips/scuffs sorted, so i'll check that.

is there anything simple/obvious that i should check?

    thanks

    Michael.

  3.

Poser! honestly though, i have a pair too, kind you got? and are you not worried that if a stone flies up and hits them you will damage them, cos they arent as cheap as safety secs, thats for sure.

I have 4 pairs  2 pairs of minutes, one is scratched and chipped so use those for the garden/other dossing about jobs. A pair if A wires from ages ago, and a pair or half jackets with the XLJ lenses. Recently bought a pair of Bloc sunnies for about £40 and whilst they are good, they aren't a patch on oakleys, no where near as comfortable to wear or as good at stopping me squinting!

cant afford a new set of oakleys at the moment though, bit hard up at the min!

i went for a pair of Juliet's with the polarized lenses, amaxing at taking the glare of everything, prob is though, they dont fit in the sunglasses holder in my zed.

think my wires will go in there which the mrs uses for driving in anyway, but any other sunglasses i have live in the house as i wear them for various other things and dont get much use of the car anyway.

have been toying with the idea of Wiley X sunglasses. they supply the US military with ballistic glasses dont you know! B)

  4. you do know you can get safety specs that look like shades and therefore dont make you look like a complete tool when you are cutting your grass

This is why i only cut my grass in the sunshine, wear my oakleys and all is good.

  5. Searched for mer but nothing comes up.

does anyone use it to clean/polish/wax their cars?

i used to use it on my previous cars but ran out recently and wondered if it was worth getting some more.

    cheers

    Michael.

  6. Spotted that one mate, thanks.

2 problems. (it will be my girlfriends car in name/payment/everything, so she gets final say on it LOL)

    1. it's yellow, she doesn't like the yellow on the zed

    2. she also doesn't like bodykits on cars, she likes them nice and standard!

otherwise it might have been in the running as i like the yellow and the nismo kit.

  7. That, my friend, is exactly what i was looking for.

So from what you say, to benefit from the lower road tax, but have the rev-up engine, it would have to be a gt4, but there really isn't much difference engine wise between the 280/300 engines.

Right. I think I get it now.

We did go to look at a black gt4, but after doing the sums we think we have to stick to <13k for a zed. Since we are looking at a trade in and will want a warranty, that leaves traders only rather than private sellers, therefore it probably prices out the gt4, which is a shame as i like the idea of the limited edition car!

    Thanks

    Michael.

  8. I have spent the last hour looking at various threads on here using the search function, but didn't find the answer i was looking for.

Was there a specific date in 2006 that the 350z got the 300bhp engine? I know the gt4 had it, but they were all 2005 cars if I'm not mistaken.

If i look for a 2006 car, registered as 06 or 56, will these both have the 300bhp rev-up engine?

Also, was the gt4 the only 350z to have the 300bhp engine and fall into the £240 road tax bracket, or were there some 06 plate GT's with the 300bhp engine that benefited from the cheaper tax?

    Thanks

Michael. (apologies if this is in the wrong section, i thought either here or the general section was the right one?)

  9. Is that a GT4?? Its an automatic...Seems nice with the 19" LMGT wheels

would the auto box not mean that it is an import? and therefore not one of the 176 that cam to the UK with the plaque in the back? that would make it the 30th anniversary edition wouldn't it?

sorry if i got this wrong, does look good in that colour though, shame i cant persuade the mrs that yellow is a nice colour!

  10. Hi all,

Just thought I would pop in, say hi and introduce myself.

Been tryig to get my girlfriend to part ex her 2001 celica in for so ething more fin for a while, but her love for her car coupled with her not liking anything I suggest has proved difficult!

Spotted a azure blue zed for sale locally and we to have a quick look and she fell in love before she actually knew what it was!

She likes the blue and the black and can't decide, I've seen a Black gt4 up for grabs near my parents house so hopefully get so see that Saturday morning.

Quick question though, she is really worried that she will fork out for the car and constantly worry about where she parks it as it will be our only car and we will use it every day for her comute to work and shoppig and things like that. Do any of you have problems with car park dings or anything like that or is it just a case of watching who you park next to?

    Anyway, cheers for reading!

    Michael.
