  1. Guys

under the car before the cat's there's a pipe that connects to the manifold (I think!) this has heat shields and they are rusted and rattling...

Can these be removed or is it a replacement job?

If its a replacement job is it possible to replace the manifolds without removing the engine or is it a big job?

any guidance would be great thanks.

    adam.

  2. Another noise has started folks.

When clutching out when selecting first I can hear a metallic clink a few times.. When I rev the even if the clutch is in or out the noise happens when cold so I assume its not the diff and I'm starting to think the gearbox or the clutch...

I've tested to make sure its not slipping by keeping the handbrake on and without revving clutching out and it seems to bite fine with no slipping..

So I think its coming from the gearbox? Anyone any ideas? Is there an oil indicator level on the gearbox or anything? I've changed the belts and oil on the engine and even injectors would I be able to complete the gearbox oil change? It seems very simple!

Any guidence on the noise/gearbox oil change would be great!

  3. Are they really that heavy? I thought later ones where 1400kg and the previous where 1200kg only! shocked that they're that heavy considering the 350z is what 1550kg or a little lighter? never really looked in to them though! I still think the feel of the turbo would make a difference as peak the torque comes in at once really or over a short period of RPM.

    ^^-- haha don't start this :)

  4. I had an auto before my current car and it felt just as quick as the manual.

I would say that because it's a normally aspirated engine and the power delivery is very linear, you will be going quicker than the Scooby but it will feel more pedestrian as there's no sudden torque improvement.

Nail + head = answer

These guys hold the answer. Have you checked the speedo to see if its actually slow or just feels slow? The Scooby is lightweight and has a turbo so all the power comes in a big chunk and stays there. The 350z is a lovely NA engine and power/torque is very smooth?

as everyone else has said the 350z isn't for 0-60 its for cruising around and effortless driving. Saying that it does not sit still and you can have fun in it..

  5. I'm really starting to feel the love with Admiral. I've read on here they are hard to get money out of and that everyone gets through to Indian call centers..

Just called up as my renewal date was the 5/5/13 and the money hadn't been taken out.. So I called up to check.. when calling the guy (who was Welsh and very helpful! if anyone wants his name hes called Tony May - and hes a legend!) said if it was OK we'd just run through all the details. We got to the mileage part and last year I did 8,700 miles only. I said this to Tony and he dropped the mileage on my account from 10,000 to 9,000. I thought nothing of it and at the end he told me that my insurance renewal had dropped from £711.26 to a more enjoyable £674.37!

    UK call center ? check!

    Friendly Staff? check!

Easy to claim off in a crash? I hope to never find out!

Just proves that being honest does randomly actually get rewarded!!

p.s for info Tony said that Admiral do not request the money to be taken from your account until 72 hours after the renewal date even though you are still covered!

  6. So I'm getting a whistling noise. Only when the following conditions are met;

the car has to be moving.

the car has to be revved between 2000-4500rpm (any higher and it could be the car drowning the noise out!)

the clutch can be engaged or disengaged it makes no difference.

the car can be in gear or out of gear it also makes no difference.

the noise only lasts a few minutes

My belts are currently squeaking a little in the cold mornings for a few minutes. The only thing I can think of is that these are squealing and when I rev they move and squeal. Either that or change the diff oil and see if it makes any difference?

    Anyone any ideas??

  7. I had Kuhmos with "rim protector" on my 19x10's. Mine was lower 30mm and when I went over bumps I heard a vibration/rubbing noise. The arch was hitting the tyre on the exact same place.

    Might be a similar problem?

  8. No problem mate I appreciate you trying to get the club members a decent discount. I seen you on Clio197.net Also possibly Cliosport.net as well otherwise I wouldn't have known you didn't cover NI :)

  9. I think autoglass make up prices. that's the exact same price they wanted for a passenger window on my car.

I got a used one from Alex for £150 or something similar.

Unlucky on the car that's really crap. I don't suppose the rear window is covered by the Window screen cover for £50 or whatever it is??

  10. That price is including my mods declared,

lowered, pop charger, exhaust and wheels.

sky; you guys wont insure me as I'm in Northern Ireland. This is why our insurance tends to be dearer. A lot of companies wont touch us!

  11. Last year My insurance was pretty much bang on £1000 for the 350z. I'd been looking around recently as my insurance is due on the 5th of May and I was slowly getting depressed as the price online was showing around £1050-£1100 for the cheapest quotes.. So I'd been looking at selling the car..

Until this morning.. Admiral have came back with a renewal of... £711.. Which means I am keeping the 350z for another year at least woohoo :D

p.s. I know Admiral can be hard to claim off etc but at the end of the day I don't care as long as I can :drive1 legally!

  12. Don't I feel stupid.. I was sitting making "pucks" out of wood for my axel stands so I could jack up the car and take off my existing wheels to paint them.. I failed twice and the wood split.. probably best it split whilst working on it and not on the car :o

Anyway.. I gave up and came in side.. Only to remember that I was moving wheels around in the garage to get to my tools to make the puck..

What a tool I am! Just threw the old wheels on the motor and retrieved the wheels that required painting!

    :surrender::blush:

  13. I'm going to get my standard 17s refurbished. I thinking of going the standard silver colour. Anyone any comments on if this is the best colour to get the wheels done? I was thinking a graphite/black colour but I think the wheels are too small to pull it off?
