  1. Hello all from the land of Caterhams!

Been a while. I'll post pics soon as I have some nice ones now. Loving the Sevens experience. Though its the first car I had to diet to own. Not alot of room.

Quick question for a mate. Looking for a Sat Nav update disc for an Xtrail. Can you point me in the right direction :teeth:

  2. I loved my time in the Caterham - except when it rained! Got wet feet several times, was really pleased when I moved up to the Zed

(Radio - a heater that works, no drafts around your right ear. . . boring things like that.)

The driving though - now that was FUN !

That is a great looking Cat

I'm looking to take mine in a similar way too. Currently its got a black nose, cycle and rear wings. I'm liking the yellow very much. Leaning toward Renault liquid yellow, if I can stretch that far. Mrs thinks it makes a "happy car"

    Not sure yet...

  3. Thanks for supporting all the meets I organised throughout the years mate. You've been one of the Stalwarts throughout it all - even the one's where I got us lost!

Feel free to show up to the NE meets in the Caterham - you'll still be welcome

    +1

What does the Mrs think of getting a Caterham then?

Thanks Lexx and Elfman much appreciated. Will you be able to keep up with me though ;)

What does the Mrs think of the Caterham hmmmm?

I think she was reasonably ok considering we drove back on Saturday from Warwickshire which took 4 hours at -5C with snow drifting across the M1, on new Avon CR500s :scare: and no heater :cold:

  4. Hi guys,

    Sad day for me. :byebye:

My beloved Z goes on Saturday. I'll try to come to the forum as much as poss as over the last years I have had such a great time and met some smashing blokes at the meets.

Best forum I've ever been on and I'll miss Z ownership terribly.

I've taken a very different route and pick up a Caterham Roadsport on Saturday to replace the Z. A Caterham has been on my wishlist since I was a lad, so a very special time all-round. She is an ex Academy car with all the trick bits, full roll cage, tillet seats etc. Very different beast all together and hope it will progress my driving massively. Hill climbs are looking very tempting indeed.

I'll keep you updated. Till then be safe all.

Or I could post some when I get home, and not wasting company time

btw If I sell her I'm going to join my next marques' club and organise with Lexxy a joint blat for sure :drive1 , if he isn't still in that big Vectra of his :teeth:

  6. Hello all,

Sadly the Zed has to go as I want to move on to another project, something along the Westie/Caterham lines. She has been a great car and I'm still not 100% I want to let her go. Had her for 2 years now, and only done 8k miles in that time, so she is a bit of a garage queen as I commute by public transport now.

    Quick run down:

    Gun Metal

54 plate UK 350z Non-GT Spec(heavy those heated leather seats you know) Cloth seats aren't so slippy and if you want Cruise Control; get a Merc ;)

    51k miles.

1k miles on Falken 452's all round on good condition Nissan Rays too

    Recent 4 wheel laser alignment

12 month old OEM Nissan exhaust

R35LEE cassette conversion for iPod(ask around forum for that if you don't know)

Full Service History with a P2 service done back in November 2011.

She isn't immaculate. Couple of pin head chips on the roof and one of the bonnet which need attention and a matchbox size scuff of the lower front valance(bloody kerbs), but overall very tidy. No door parking dings. She NEVER sees Asda carpark!

As I say I'm not 100% I want to let her go, so I'm in no rush, but the forum has been good to me, so thought I'd give this first refusal. I'd like to her to go to a member who'll appreciate her.

I'm open to sensible offers around the 8k mark, but let know by PM, you'll never know what I might take ;)

EDIT: I've popped her on Pistonheads too http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3566477.htm

but anyone tells me they are forum members I'l offer a discount. Damn I'm nice

  7. meh! american cars get me about as excited as a girl with a jordie accent. i'd actually have to thumb it in its that much of a turn off!

I don't know my missus does a canny job on me ;) You've clearly not been for a night out in Newcastle. Next time you are up here give me a shout and I'll change your mind B)

Btw Geordie not Jordie mate :D

  8. Got a serious frog in my throat that I may have dropped a clanger. Booked my Z in for a service and realised it's 18 month since I last had her done. She has been sitting around mothballed for a good while now as I take the bus to work now. No parking available and 15 mins on bus.

Have I screw the history or should I give her another service in 6 months. The mileage has been mega low.

Help cause I feel rotten now I have realised :headhurt:

  9. What is it with nissans and condensation?? lol I see lots of them with steamed up windows, my m8 also told me they get it quite bad, he worked for a dealer. Only ever seen nissans with it though

Must be that we are always up to no good in them ;)

  10. Great thread. Think we need to stop and re-evaluate our attitude and driving styles to keep fresh and safe.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the IAM. Think it is something all of us should consider driving the cars we do. I had a years worth of instruction every Sunday from an ex-police driver and it was utterly invaluable.

To put my bit of advice in, that has help me loads over the years is this in cars and on motorbikes. Again not a teaching suck eggs type of thing please.

As you drive constantly keep in your mind "What if....". It is SO important.

"What if dizzy Dora does pull out at that junction? What will you do?

It's a BMW likely to pull out with no warning? Could do. Parked cars by the local shop. People nip in for fags in a rush and pull out without fully concentrating. Car approaching a lorry on motorway? What if it pulls out without checking? What will you do?

Don't drive scared just drive fully aware.

The clues are all there, so look for them. Look at wheels turning. Look them in the eyes. Do you see them seeing you. Dirt covering a country road? Tractor up ahead?

  11. Part of the problem is the shocking grammar used on popular TV shows, "I don't know nothing" and the general use of double negatives can be heard on most of the soaps, especially EastEnders, it's little wonder that standards have slumped over recent years.

    Pete

Totally agree with Pete and with Husky on this. My view is that kids/younger adults have spent too much time with Xfactor/Britain Needs Talent/Soap Idol shows. Time spent in real life might be better, but then again I'm knocking on 40 now, so maybe I'm an old fart too.

I suggest they read Ben Elton's Blind Faith and realise that we are standing on a brink of a nightmare. Seriously scary book showing how humanity be so advanced, but can end up knowing so little.

  12. Lovely new motor Rich  . My missus LOVES those, that and Bentleys. I've always looked at maybe getting the saloon version for a bit of Hannibal Lecter type cred. Incredible V8.

I have to say it needs the Biscuit tlc badly. I'm sure with your expertise in that area it will be looking spanking soon.

I am very disappointed that you passed me by on your trip back. My fault for being off the forum for a bit. I would have done you a nice BBQ. Next time your in the North East, do drop in for a burger and a cold one.

  13. Morning guys,

Just after a quick opinion. My Z has developed a very slight grinding noise turning tight left. I don't think it a CV joint as it is very slight, like what you get from a rusted disc on braking for the first time after rain.

She is in for a service this month. Maybe I am being paranoid into thinking it is something serious. Is it possible just a bit of a rusted edge on the disc. She has done 49k, so is probaby due a new set of stoppers.

    What do you think?

Good news is though it is a lovely sunny day :D

  14. Guys and Gals looking for advice. Shortly I'll be moving into my new house with a garage :D Remote roller shutter too :teeth:

Thing is I have never parked the Zed in a garage. The missus Swift Sport goes in ok but I'm thinking mine is too wide. The garage entrance is I guess standard. I'll measure it tonight. Its just under 7ft I think, but the getting in and out of the driver door might be a problem.

    What do you think?
