yeah, that's probably a good way to do it i've never found it this difficult to buy a car before
-
the owner just phoned me back, all sounds okay - there is a small amount of finance to settle they are a long way from me so i can't just pop over there. they have offered to settle with santander once i've bought the car, and while i am there with them, so i can get an all clear. fly in the ointment is that its likely to be a saturday so whats the chances of them phoning santander with a card payment on a saturday? virtually nil i suspect. which means i'll be driving the car back and trusting her to make the settlement
-
okay, i'll let you know how it ends up was supposed to see the car this weekend but have not heard back from the owners in time. haven't told them i've HPI checked it yet either. i was supposed to pay for the car with a bankers draft in the name of the seller which i have with me, thats what we agreed. can't do that now because of the finance arrangement. nothings ever easy is it?
-
Cheers for the advice chaps. Why does it have to be done at the sellers house by the way? If i get as far as looking at the car I'll get a settlement figure from santander for sure. I can't see any way of settling the balance on the spot though. do the finance company give you 'title of goods' etc or some documentation to say it's clear once you settle?
-
well it wasn't declared up front by the owner so maybe they were hoping someone would buy it without checking and then they could maybe clear the finance with the sale money...or not bother at all!! what's the best way round this? should i just walk away from this one? I'm a bit miffed that they didn't tell me about it first
-
we're not off to a good start HPI check shows outstanding finance
-
i'm happy to pay that for it, there are other GT4's for sale nearer the 15k mark so it's not a bad price by any means
-
you boys are harsh - i've already asked them if they'll take 13.5k and they said yes, can't really go back and ask for further reduction...i fear they won't sell it to me at all out of spite! them a dealer? Just ask mate it wont hurt anyone... no it's a private sale mate

yikes..i think they will send me packing if i try and chip them on £13.5k because it's already come down 1k on the original advertised price and the GT4s are all around the same kind of price
-
sounds like good advice, i think we're both thinking along the same lines. i'm sure the pearl yellow in the flesh is going to be stunning
-
you would go for the 05 car yourself rather than the 06? would parking sensors on the GT4 put you off at all?
-
well if i'm not really gaining anything from the 2006 except a one year newer car on paper, seeing as they've both done similar miles, i may as well go for the GT4 and save some money i think. i would have expected both of those cars to hold their value relatively. most seem to think the GT4's will do better
-
well so far the vast majority of replies favour the yellow GT4, which is in line with my original opinion before i test drove the azure but the one i drove was a 2004 not a 2006...anyone think the newer 2006 has any real advantage over the GT4 seeing as i have driven neither model, is there any real noticeable difference to the driver?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201005351423286 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201002350268225 the import GT4 i mentioned was another car but it can't be genuine if it's yellow and an import...he's trying to make it look like a UK GT4 i think
-
sorry for the confusion, the import GT4 is a different car from the two cars i have been talking about. i don't appear to be able to attach photos in my posts so i'll see if i can get links to the ads
-
Thanks for all the advice, i think i'm leaning back towards UY. Part of the pull of the azure car was that it was a 2006 and of course you always want the newest car you can get. Are the GT4's uk spec only? A guy is selling what he calls a jap import UY GT4 Is that going to be a jap import painted to look like a genuine GT4 or did they actually make them in japan? I notice the little boot fin is missing in his pictures
-
The GT4 is 13.5k, the 06 is 15k both appear to be immaculate condition. The GT4 has rear parking sensors, the 06 doesn't. Both have done same mileage appro 22k Neither car is modded

How do you attach photos in these posts guys?

I take all those points on board, don't mind the attention, I'm used to it with the what I drive now so it's not a problem. I tend to stay away from public car parks where possible anyway. Interesting that you think the yellow will bring all the attention and that blue won't be as bad, I tend to think they would both bring attention! But yeah, i take the point that the yellow is more lary
-
it does look great, even though i don't generally like the non standard bits (sorry)! what i like about the UY colour is that it reminds me of the porsche GT2 colour
-
it's definately a 2006 facelift, I'll attach a pic if i can but it is listed as exactly that by the nissan dealer
-
Okay i'm being a bit thick here but the year of manufacture is 2005 obviously for the GT4 and the azure is definately 2006, it's listed by a nissan dealer as a 2006. what is the actual engine difference between the two and would it be noticeable at all?
-
Thanks for your views chaps... What is MY06 and MY03? I could probably get some pics, which bit of the car should i be looking at?

I've been deliberating on this for a few months now.. I have been offered an ultra yellow GT4 and I thought that was the car for me, as everyone here knows, it's a fairly exclusive colour and has all the extras etc and is cheaper tax etc. Then I went and test drove a blue one. Big mistake. The test drive was pretty thrilling, I currently own a V6 twin turbo 300zx which is not a slow car as we know, but the 350 put a smile on my face, just a lovely driving experience. I had dismissed the Azure blue, but when you see it in the flesh it really does look lovely. So now I'm infatuated with getting a Zed in that colour. Well to be honest I can't decide which I like better between the yellow and the blue. I haven't seen the yellow in the flesh yet though. I've noticed a lot of the blue's for some reason don't seem to have the GT pack so it's been harder to find a good one. However, I now have the chance of a blue 2006 GT pack as well as the yellow GT4 2005. 2006 model will cost me more money on tax i know that but what will a 2006 car offer me over the 2005 GT4? The engine specs are a bit different but are they noticeably different to the driver? I expect your 2006 GT pack has everything that your GT4 has? They are both immaculate cars on similar miles approx 22,000, how on earth do i make a decision? I keep telling myself I should go for the more exclusive ultra yellow colour because I know i'm unlikely to see one on the road, whereas azure blue is not as rare. That's the only sense I can make of it. I should never have gone for that test drive...!
