  1. I'll concur with the bad status for Evans Halshaw in Mansfield.... For a local independent alternative, I think these guys between Nottingham and Mansfield are worth a go based on dealings with them so far, professional, quick and helpful. http://www.toyotarepairs.net/
  2. I'd recommend the Falken 452's, after the stock Bridgestone RE40's it came with wore out I swapped before Christmas and it drove like a different car even in the cold - you can get them from Camskill for not much over £100 a corner. If you get all four done at the same time I'd reckon it's worth getting the wheels laser aligned as well - cost me about £50 from Big City Tyres in Nottingham, although I know friends who've paid a bit less (and a lot, lot more at a main dealer - BMW quoted a mate £275!)
  3. Once you've got over the ear to ear grin from the engine noise, the classic Z specific things worth looking for on a test drive are: Bose CD skipping, tends to be when cold Worn syncromesh from enthusiastic gear changing Rear wheel bearing clicking Electric window regulator breaks (came across this in a lucky fashion when testing mine as I'd had the drivers window down and up again, but when I tried it a second time it didn't come back up to the top!) Don't let it put you off though - mine is assuredly the best money I have every spent & summer is coming
  4. Hi I've got a 54 plate Chilli Red Z I've had for the last year and a half - the paint seems fine, wash and wax it and it looks showroom again, bar the front bumper stone chips of course, which I understand are difficult to do much about without respraying. If it makes you smile & feel five years old again then buy it - I hadn't realised how much I wanted a red one till I saw it in the flesh!
  5. That's a really good price, mine's only £100 quid or so less last time round at 32 with 7 years NCB!
  6. After much delay (my apologies) - thanks for the responses. Problem went away after P3 service, so I assume it was related to this - although of course it could be completely unrelated. THanks for the responses.
  7. Hi My engine management light on my Z came on a few days ago, I took it to my local (non Nissan) garage and the code was read as P1147, which I understand relates to the heated O2 sensor rear bank 1. My mechanic wassn't sure where the sensor it located, I'm pretty happy that rear means post cat, but can someone out there confirm which side of the car bank 1 is? Many thanks in advance Ben
  8. Hi Front left whilst sitting in it. Thanks for the steer GT4 Zed - I'll ask my mechanic to have a look and see if that's it. Many thanks Ben
  9. Hi I've taken my Z to a local garage (not Nissan) as it has a small oil leak on the front left hand side (based on the oil patch on the drive). Mechanic had a look but couldn't find it, his next suggestion is to give the whole thing a really good clean and then leave it to run for a bit, when hopefully it will be more obvious where the leak is. He did say that would be a bit of a pain and would take some time, so: Does anyone have any suggestions other than this so I can give him a helping steer - is there a common connection that works loose or starts to fail? I've tried searching the forum but nothing leaps out. Car is 54 plate with 39K on the clock. Many thanks in advance. Ben
  10. Hi guys I've had Z for 4 months, , but since the weather got colder a few weeks ago the fuel economy has got a lot worse - normal journey to work it's getting 22mpg when it was getting 27. A bit will be having aircon on more and rear screen demist, but not that much I would think? The only thing I've noticed is that the engine coolant doesn't appear to be getting warm enough now - it would happily get to the middle of the gauge previously after 10 minutes or so driving but it struggles to get into the bottom of the usageable range ban when sitting at 85mph on the motorway for 20 minutes. Does this mean the fuel mix will be running too rich and is this fixable/tweakable? Any help much appreciated. Ben
