  1. My 03 JDM is coming up for service in the next month and I wondered if anyone knew of a good place for servicing in or around Leeds? When I had my last car I always used to use TDi-North as I much preffered to take it to a specialist as opposed to a main dealer. Nissan have quoted me around £239 (P2 service) with me supplying my own oil, I don't mind that price as such but I don't want top pay extra just for a dealer stamp - especially as it doesn't have FNSH anyway.
  2. I just made the same jump from CTR to Azure Blue Z! Completely different animal, gone is the manic screeming as you accelerate but I must admit I love the V6 growl. The gearing and grip makes the most difference I think.
  3. it's an 03 import and I bought it last week from a private sale. I've spoken to zmanalex and he's given me some pointers so all going well it should be fine - thank god!
  4. I definitely didnt want to drive it and make matters worse so I've left the car at home this morning and taken the other half's car to work. Looking around the itnernet this issue does seem to crop up a bit, mainly on the US forums, and seems like its a faulty sensor (or 2?) in the majority of cases. I'll be giving Nissan a ring later on and Ill also drop ZMANALEX a PM.
  5. Engine light came on (a full week after buying the car!!!!) on the drive home home last night. I did the little sequence so that it flashed me the error code and I got 340 which I think relates to P0340 - CMP (Cam Shaft Position) Sensor (Phase). Can anyone enlighten me a bit more on what this means and what I need to do, should I take it off the road completely until I get it into a garage?
  6. quick pic of my old and new car for you all Old: New:
  7. I've always been impressed with toyo's and just ordered some Falken 452's from camskill - very good price of £93 each!
  8. always remember that balck is nver as good looking as any other colout due to it showing dirt so much more, I had to drag myself away from a shiny black Z in my search as I know how hard they are to keep looking nice (even though they are the best colour when in showroom condition). Personally I would go for the silver, although it does seem a little too good to be true if it is UK spec GT.

Does gear oil and brake fluid get changed on P2 service? Anything else I can buy before the service? I'm looking for more consumables that I can put an order in for - much prefer to know decent products have been used on the service!

    Service

try camskill for your tyres. They're cheaper just checked and Falkens come out about £93 compared with £123 from blackcircles just need to find someone who will fit them in Leeds area now - most places I have tried only want to fit them if you have bought the tyres from them. looks like I'm on for a P2 - not too bad, Nissan Leeds have quoted me £239 if I supply my own oil.
  12. I just wanted to drop a note to say that although I was initially told that I could not be covered on a Z due to it being RWD I have since called back and now received a quote of £740.36 - that's over £100 cheaper than the next best offer (with Admiral). Many thanks to CK for another year of finding me the best price

    Service

Just bought my Zed over the weekend. I'm going to take it in for a service to make sure everything is good and wanted a little advice before I book. Firstly the car is an 03 and on 49k miles, is this a P2 service that will be due? What sort of price should I be aiming for? I live in Leeds and wondered if anyone can recomend somewhere for the service? Which tyres? Handbook says - 225/45 R18 91W (front) & 225/45/R18 96W (rear) - this is (I assume!) with Rays. I have been told that rear is better to have 245/45R18 96W - is this the case? In terms of which types to go for I was looking at Falken 4542's or Toyo TR1's? Which oil and how much is required for the service? The previous owner replaced the spark plugs so don't need to worry about that but I had conflicting info that they get replaced on the 6yr service anyway - t or f? anything else I need to be aware of? P.S. I have tried searching for this info all morning (at the expense of my actual work ) but I don't seem to be able to find the exact info I need - sorry for being a pain!
  15. the problem with Pistonheads is that adverts are free. Now if an advert is of no charge to the seller the the seller will always ask more for the car, if they are paying per month on Autotrader etal then they will post a more realistic price as they don't want to flush money down the pan. I know I always put my car £1k more on pistonheads than on the trader
  16. Hi guys. Just to let everyone know I am now a fully-fledged, membership-paying, Z-owning member of the forum Absolutely brilliant couple of days playing with her and getting used to the various characteristics. Can't actually believe how much attention it gets from people - especially seen as it's an 03 car! I think most of that is down to the drop-dead gorgeous Azure Blue paintwork. anyway, I'll be asking plenty of newbie (aka annoying!) questions over the coming months I'm sure so bare with me Thanks everyone for advice given before I bought one, always appreciated! Paul.
  17. ah, I knew I had seen it somewhere! thanks for the heads up
  18. pardon my ignorance but what are tsb's? spoke to the seller tonight and he says it's totally standard. no auction report, the guy has tried calling the importers (banzai cars) when he bought it from the first uk owner and they can only confirm that the car did come through them but they do not keep the reports on file.
  19. ok, I've not had any luck with finding a Z yet but I think I might just be onto a winner this weekend it's a JDM, 03, blue, rays wheels, 49k miles, mot and tax until october. currently at £9k but I think i can get it down due to come very very minor niggles. 1 question I have is regarding servicing. When the car was imported it was put in for a P3 service and inspection (at 25,000km), then the first UK owner owned a garage and did his own service, then the current owner bought it and took it for its last service which also included spark plugs. Now the next service will be up in the next 2 months and so I'm not sure which service it will be due? I've read through the service section and it says the order of service goes 1,2,1,3 (rinse & repeat etc) so what service will it be due and how much should I plan for? Part of the reason for this is to try get the price down even more Any advice welcomed guys - I may just be a fully fledged member this time next week
  20. called ahead and the guy asked if it was just Nissan that I was interested to which I replied yes. He got a Nissan out for me to view but it was a bit more expensive than I was expecting...
