  1. Yup, That's what I found.

Came back form holiday at the weekend and washed the Z on Sunday. I got to the roof and see what i think is bird crap, but no it's a blister in the paint. 6 inches from the front edge and about the same in from the passenger side. Finger nail size.

Gutted. I can't believe what I'm seeing. My Z is just 2 years old with less than 20,000 on the clock, has been cared for like a baby and has more wax on it the a bumble bee's arse. Anyone from the forum who's seen my car knows how much I look after it.

What to do. I contacted the dealer I use for the service, but the Service manager is away untill next Tuesday, So cant take it in till then.

Can anyone in the know give me some advice on how they may proceed?

I know they'll probably try the stone chip 2 step (I can't see one). but surly the body corrosion coat should have stopped any blistering. I have a couple on the bonnet front edge, but they haven't moved.

The whole roof will have to be re-painted, but in my colour, how that will go I can only guess.

I'm just so dissappointed and feel let down by Nissan for this to happen. It's the most I've ever spent on a car and is my pride and joy.:angry::rant:

  2. Cheeky sod! I would have spotted you a mile off in your chewits! Seemed like me and Fee were the only ones bothered about parking away from all the other cars!

I was way round the side clear of everything. Just me and the modded black.

  3. Just the two of us......me and Fee - Pizza and putting the world to rights like only us girls can do!

And can anyone who lives near Xscape at Castleford please let us know what the hell is going on with all the 'big fat gypsy wedding' girls there! Really scary! :scare:

I didn't know you were getting wed.:lol::lol::lol:

  4. Been building my own pc's now for 15 years and would not change. I like to do a bit of gaming so the Mac is a no go for me in this department. Windows 7 is the best windows OS to date :)

Like you building my own (And everyone else's who knows me for years) The first Computers i worked on had a 1Mb hard drive. God how far we've come.

Windows 7 is just spot on. I see the alure of Mac, but the price is prohibitive and repairs mind blowing. Although I'd be lost without my iphone.

Always give AMD a look too. The PC I built for myself Xmas 09 is AMD based Phenom 11 955 Black edition over clocked and stable at 4Ghz. with lots of RAM and a Solid State system hard drive, not forgetting the massive Vapour X graphics card. Its just unreal to use for anything. If you want to just use a few apps and dont need the power, build one on a budget to match. easy nowadays. :D

  5. I nearly bought a Z on 3 different attempts and finally couldn't hold back any longer. The last of the 350's were going fast (No Pun) so it was a now or never situation. I bought mine from a showroom photograph, brandnew and sat waiting for me in London.

I collected my Z a year ago tomorrow. I slept little and woke early to catch a train form Yorkshire to that there London.

I had a first class ticket, paid for by the Dealership and I was off to kings cross. Nice trip down and then on to the tube. I was met by the Saleman at the station who drove me to the Dealership.

He Said "Your car is in the garage near the showroom being fuelled up and we might pass in on the way", but better than that as we got to the petrol station my Z was just leaving and pulled out in front of me. The sun was shining and all I could think was "God that's bright". The Salesman (Omar) said "Well they'll see you coming in that mate"

The experience could not have been better. With the paperwork done and my bank account empty I went to check out my Z. The Dealership gave me front mats and threw in a boot mat and even a Tonneau cover, gratis. They said this was the last 350 they would see and I might as well have the bits as they were on it, with it being the showroom car.

with everything done I sat in my Z and programmed the Satnav for home, full tank of fuel and the biggest grin in the world, with 200 miles to go. I was off.

The sun was out and I could not have been happier. People looked and some waved and in the inevitable M1 jam Igot looks and thumps up. I couldn't stop laughing and thinking this was a happy car what with the loud paint job and all (dopey I know), but thats the reaction I got. I know the colour is not to everyone's taste, but I love it.

I went straight to my Girlfriends work and showed her my new pride and joy. Then home.

Without doubt one of my best days.

This is taken from my archive. I don't remember the tracks as I didn't take a CD with me (Numpty), but it wouldn't have mattered cos you wouldn't have been able to hear the music for me laughing and shouting Whhooooo Hoooooo and the way back from London. It was like being 18 again. Never forget it.

  6. Only just seen this m8, hence the delay.

I had the same issues with the door speakers when I upgraded and upped the watts a little (namely 2 amps. (900 4 way and 1000watt mono block).

The doors were horrid. Buzzed and vibrated. If you look at the grills they are only half drilled and the speakers well back in the door. So a lot of the sound is directed and trapped inside, hence it will vibrate.

The options are drill the rest of the holes (nightmare, I didn't), but mainly the door interior need to come apart and have good quality sound matting put in everywhere. From the outed skin to the lock cables. Not an easy job, so get pro help if you can.

Mine are very good now. A test is knock on the door and if the sound is dull and dead your there. if it sounds like a baked bean tin, well you see my point.

    Hope this helps. :)

  7. Ok folks,

I've bitten the bullet. Ordered the RE050A's. Just my luck no rears in stock at Camskill and none in site. I'm sure they'll turn up in a bit.

I just hope these give me a little more in terms of predictability than the 1st set or set 3 will be something else.

thanks for all the great feedback as always.

  8. Oh god...

I have a dilema now. I can get the Bridgestone if I want, theres no difference in the price. So where does the budget tyre come into this. I don't want or need budget tyres, but is there anything as good or better for the Z. Honestly the RE050's have not inspired me.

I have driven her hard and the were predictable (mostly), But every now and again they'd do something totally bizarre and I might add without any warning.

They seem skittish when really the should still have grip left and then stick to the road like a squashed Hedge Hog when you're on the limit. I may just be me.

People who have run a Z for many years may have tried many types of tyre. My Z is my daily driver and I drive in that mode most of the time, but on a given day some spirited driving may ensue and I want her to feel planted and predictable. Am I asking too much?

    :)

  9. The Grey is on a 56 plate and the orange on a 57 plate. The grey has 26,000 miles though whilst the orange has 30,000 and the orange has sat nav and azalean leather.

    Exactly the same as mine.

The extra miles wouldn't bother me. It appears the Orange is a GT car with some extra's and I think the later engine (Not sure).

I'd go Orange based on that, but I'm not you look at em.

Let us know how you go. :teeth:

  10. Hi.

I'm not going to dis the GM cars. If its your bag then great....

Tempur Orange is very rare. It's more subtle that the ford one and looks very different in different light conditions.

On dull days its almost pastel in appearence, but when the sun hits it, it's just ON FIRE with all the pearl reflecting the light. You will not believe the change that comes over the car. I don't know about the resale, but then I'm not bothered. I had the option of any colour, but once I saw the Orange I knew it was for me. Colour is subjective If you like it great. When you go to meets you'll be very lucky to see another one. You will see many, many GM's, there is and always will be more of them and thats ok too.

The downs are. It's more difficult to match than GM if you plan body mods, but you will see under artificial light that the Pearl make plastic parts look different to metal. The roof rails on mine look different to the roof and the H/lamp washers covers are different to the bumper. All the Tempur cars are the same I'm told.

In 2 year of ownership I've only seen one other in the flesh.

Look at the cars side by side. Check the spec of both. Colour is the last cosideration, more so when buying used. If there's nothing in them. GO ORANGE.

    Hope this helps. :teeth:

  12. Oh dear :scare:

It is imperative that the oil level is checked on a very regular basis from cold.

The dip stick is a bit fiddly but you have no option.

By what you have described, then the oil level must have been extremely low and unless you are extremely lucky, then unfortunately you will have caused internal damage to the motor which may or may not be obvious at this moment in time.

    Alex.

I may be wrong, but here goes.

To check the oil level the engine needs to be warm. Then swich off and wait 20 mins for the oil to run back. then check the level at the dip stick.

    opinions?

  13. Hi folks,

Tyres time. Was just gunna go wilth Bridgestones, but I'd like some forum opinions about Toyo Proxes if anybody has used them. Did a search, but found little.

The original tyres have done well 17,500, so no complaints.

    Ta.

  14. Hi All,

Been off for a bit, the trials of life and all that....

Well Z due for service. Year 2 17,500 covered, so checked for required info. this was after Evans Halshaw Leeds (remember that folks) rang and told me it was due and that it needed a P3. To which I answered "No, I think you'll find it's a P2". However the young (Very young) lady went away and returned informing me that the technician had told her P3 for sure and that would be £365.28 to you Sir. (Collapse and sharp intake of breath) "We can price match, but all our other dealers will charge the same"

So.... I call Evans Halshaw Doncaster. "yes we can do it, but it only needs a P2 which is £318, less your own oil and brake fluid, so call it £250 for cash". OK.....that put paid to "we all charge the same" then.

So, Call me cautious, I call Lightcliffe Nissan Halifax. GTR and 350/370Z Specialist. Very savvy Brian, "Yes needs a P2. £227.57 with your own oil and fluid", "So £220 for cash then, "Ok". This seems like the option for me. A reasonable price and someone who appears to know "A" know the car and "B" what they are doing.

    Comments....and or experiences....I thank you.
