Thank you! I took a deep breath and IPA'd the whole bonnet. It's removed all contaminants and tree sap! Then clean, waxed and polished! Only done the bonnet as it was taking forever but the results speak for themselves .

My whole car is covered in baked on tree sap.. Something I have inherited from the previous keeper. Now I've been advised you can remove this with isopropyl alcohol using a 10% solution to water but this struggled to remove it. I used it direct on a cloth managing to remove it all from the windscreen. Is this safe on the paint work? I've tried meguiars tar and bird crap remover but no joy. I've clay bared the bonnet which has removed a surprising amount which was unseen to the eye but it hasn't managed to shift the larger parts. It's alllllllll over the car . Is this going to be a slow process of applying IPA to each piece of sap or is there an easier or safer option? Ben

It's much quicker when the cat isn't in the car . Already looking at berk decats and ARK Grip exhaust . I've got a long list of things to do in order to get it sound. The previous owner appears to have parked it under a tree for a long time...It's covered in tree sap!

The cat seems to like sleeping in the boot when working on the car . Thanks for the help everyone . I'm getting myself crossed with the gallery gaskets. I had the inlet, rocker, throttlebody gaskets changed when I got it as it had a serious oil leak! Not to mention filling the cabin with smoke from oil landing on the exhaust ! Ben.

Silly question but I can figure out what engine I have or whether it's a facelift or not. Can anyone give me any pointers on what to look for? It's an 06 plate, single intake if that helps . The gallery gaskets failed too if that helps? Cheers, Ben.

Update! Car is in the garage now being stripped down. Gaskets are goosed! previous owner had had a bad job done with just bunging a sealer over the old gaskets... No Zed until a few weeks now. Anyway few pictures when I picked it up . It has a scorpion exhaust system fitted as the original began leaking. It sounds lovely but I want ARK lol.. It should be a nice project, Wheels and headlights need refurbing but apart from that I can't wait to get it back and give it a thorough wash wax and paint correction! Ben

Thanks for the welcomes . So I finally got myself one, an 06 plate in grey/silver. Got it home last night and could smell oil, before i knew it the cabin was full of smoke! Looks like an oil leak dripping onto the exhaust. Kind of praying it's nothing too major. Oil pressure seems fine, no warning lights lol... Great start to ownership haha. Ben

Sooo... yeah I actually signed up here 8 year ago but never said hi! Back in 2009 I was torn between purchasing a Mk1 Ford Focus RS and a Nissan 350z GT. Sadly I bought the RS, still a fun car but only so much fun you can have out of a 4 pot, fwd turbo! So 8 years later I now I find myself in the opportunity of being in the position to get my hands on a 350z! Happy Days! I'll be scoping these forums daily to get myself clued up fully on these machines. One question though, what power is achievable minus forced induction? Ben

Can anyone help me out a bit. I have just seen this come up on pistonheads and is located quite close! http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1127518.htm The previous owner had the clutch replaced, would this likely be due to 6krpm launches or is it a comman fault at 50k miles? It has also had a miltek exhaust as the original one needed replacing. Thanks, Ben.

Hello . Quick question, how hard are nismo exhaust systems to get ahold of? Are they import only or are there european dealers? I've been on youtube and the nismo sounds marvelous!

Hey, Thanks for all the welcomes, nice place here . That's what I like about this car, even the exhaust note sounds stunning on the standard pipes. Like you've said, it starts off with a nice power figure to begin with, not to mention rwd, that should keep me ocupied for a while . I've never wanted a car soo much until now, god help my wallet . Hello, Just being nosy really, I don’t own a 350z but seriously considering one for next year. Right now I’m driving a 1.8 focus zetec, with all sorts of performance mods which is coming to an end as there isn’t much more you can squeeze out of the zetec engine without spending thousands for minimal gains n/a wise. Hence the reason in considering one of these, the v6 sound alone is gorgeous! So really here to do a bit of research on them before hand. Ben.
