  1. NOW SOLD

    Moderators: can you please remove this? Thanks!

    Sadly the time has come to sell our beloved zed so here it goes...

    For sale is a Gunmetal Grey 55-reg 350z coupe with the GT pack. This is an original UK car, first registered in September 2005. It has 54000 miles on the clock (slowly rising as this is our daily driver). The car is the early 276bhp model benefiting of reduced tax as well.

    We're the the third owners of the car and we took good care and pride into owning it for the last five years. The car has not been tracked or taken part in any sporting events. We did nevertheless enjoy taking part in some of the spectacular Wales drives organized by the 350z-uk club and took part into static car shows with other clubs as well.

    The spec follows the UK GT pack without any engine or interior modifications. Highlights include:

    * Black leather interior

    * Heated and electrically adjustable leather seats

    * Cruise control

    * Optional 18 inch RAYS alloys

    * BOSE 6xCD player/radio with 6 speakers and subwoofer behind driver seat

    * Steering wheel audio controls

    * Optional Bluetooth connector wiring installed in driver armrest (requires separate adapter)

    * Brembo brakes

    * Xenon headlights

    * Central locking, alarm, imobilizer

    * Plenty of mod-cons such as electric windows, mirrors, reading lights, power sockets, cup holder, armrest and lockable storage, etc.

    Full Nissan main dealer service history.

    There has been no smoking in the car and the interior is clean and in excellent condition. The bodywork is in great condition too - it should be seen to be appreciated. There is some corrosion on the front alloys, this being a common issue with the Rays at this age. Falken 452 tyres all around with plenty of thread left. MOT is valid until 20 Oct 2013 when next service is due as well, tax until 1st October 2013.

    Car is also advertised on the usual places (autotrader, pistonheads)

    The car is located in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

    £8195

    Feel free to PM me for contact details or more info

  2. Noted,I was really hoping a boffin would surface and we could take it somewhere private ;)

    Makes sense. Unfortunately I can't help as this seems to be finance related and outside my area.

    Best recommendation is always to check with the "gatekeeper" (of the gateway - ha!) and let them tell you what you should use to get in so to say

  3. Well, I'm afraid there's no escape swamping into technical details. It's like asking how to fix the piston timings on a green car with four wheels

    Without knowing more details about the kind of gateway you are talking about you won't get much help. And posting those kind of details in a public forum is usually not recommended...

    I suggest finding a friendly nearby boffin that can help you with this.

  4. I was always under the impression it had to be on recirc so it recirculates the air over the coil to clean the bacteria. All this is gonna do without is freshen the car interior

    +1

    The instructions on the tin also specifically say to set recirculation on?

    Any reason why this would be different on the Zed?

  5. Parking on grass verges :nono: :nono:

    :teeth::stir:

    Welcome to the forum. Car looks good. I'd be checking what those "350z specialists garages" were servicing it, and that a decent make of disk and pads was used in the recent replacement. Factor any of that in the cost, do an HPI check, and check for the usual known issues listed here, and deffinitely do an extensive test drive. But it looks like a good example that hasn't been tampered much with from the original and well maintained.

  6. Yes, people still and will fall for this kind of stuff. The fault is not with them as much as it is with the c**p Microsoft Windows that allows you to run a file willy nilly simply based on the file extension c**p - the same Windows that coincidentaly likes to hide those extensions as much as it can thinking it makes people's life easier. I just can't believe that after 20 years of Windows Microsoft still hasn't done anything about this.

  7. I think some dealers often keep used vehicles on the forecourt untaxed and can legally drive them with temporary license plates - I've seen that first hand on a number of test drives. Not sure if they were declared SORN though. In any case, probably not relevant if you're buying privately.

  8. There is probably a correlation with the kind of people that own a particular car model - the people I know owning Clios are not the kind that would spend much on maintenance, for various reasons. I wouldn't generalize this to the general Clio owning population, but that's what my statistical sample would indicate.

    But that makes it far worse that expensive cars like beemers or mercs or audis (who you'd expect to be regularly maintained) are getting to the top of the breakdown probability.

    The more common the car, the more likely they are to break down. Simple maths.

    That's not quite true - perhaps you meant "The more common the car, the more likely you are to notice one break down." That's a completely different thing to the chance of a particular model of a car breaking down during a time of ownership. The article talks about "average number of days per year spent in the garage" which is independent of the amount of the particular model of cars on the road.

  9. There is a small upright cap with a cross-recess screw drive on the hose going to the heater bellow the windscreen in the engine bay. Be careful not to undo it with force as the screw drive is plastic and easy to break. Check the service manual for a piccie.

    A trick to get airlocks out is to squeeze the bendy thick hose coming out at the top left of the radiator (looking towards engine bay). Couple of sqeezes get the coolant gurgling through - let it settle for a while, top up with more, repeat squeeze, etc.

  10. If you're hiring a car, I would very very highly recommend crossing the border into Italy as the part immediately after you cross the border is fanstastically beautiful with amazing little towns dotted on hilltops, awesome food and imho far better than any of the comparatively fake places on the french side which only exist during the summer months and are tailored to tourists.

    You wouldn't even need to hire a car, just take the train from Nice to Ventimiglia, there's loads of cheap buses from there, just check the timetables. Done that last year, it was great

  11. +1 on the surrounding areas. Monaco, Eze, Menton, Antibes, Cannes, etc. If in Cannes or Juan les Pins, go to Ile St. Marguerite for a nice secluded beach spot. I'm sure you'll find plenty of things to keep you busy for 5 days...

  12. I've had version 1 it a while ago, for the only reason that I got it for free with the broadband deal and there was no subscription. Basically I was getting a free PVR for watching Freeview channels. It was OK for that, and then there were some on-demand movies or programs that you could buy, though nothing very exciting and very limited selection. I never bought any of the subscription channels.

    I think nowadays I would opt either for an off-the-shelf PVR with HD Freeview capability (i.e. no subscriptions) or I would go for a subsidised top of the line box like a Tivo or Sky HD with a good selection of HD channels. I couldn't bear watching SD anymore - not to mention paying for it! BT Vision doesn't do HD for freeview channels, and don't ever think you can watch good quality HD content live over broadband, it just won't happen. You can probably download stuff for hours and then watch it, but you'll be paying over the nose for it.

    So it's a No from me
