  1. Ah, thought it might be different oil in 370
  2. Do you sell replacement washers for the plugs? Mine is just 2 years old but I'm thinking by 20,000 the diff oil will be a bit rank!
  3. Many Thanks, Do you have any idea on when these should be changed?
  4. Hi All, Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations about when these should be changed? Read on other forums that they are 'lifetime' and shouldn't need replacement? My car has covered about 20,000 miles now. Others say that diff oil in particular gets very muddy. What sort of interval would be good to change them? Also, what fluids should be used? I'm thinking about getting Nissan to change them both as it's about an hours labour but sourcing the fluids myself. I have seen somewhere that this is meant to be good for the tranny: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/371066494787?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0 3 Quarts of that required apparently Think the diff is meant to have some different stuff? Any idea of quantity on that? Thanks, Tom
  5. Solved! Took the spring part off and was still doing it. Looked at all the other linked parts, not coming from them. Was actually the clutch pedal sensor switch. Tried spraying some oil on it but might just replace the switch. Nothing to say a new one might do it too though.
  6. I don't think it's normal, this is the noise: Tried taking the main pin out above the spring and greasing but hasn't made any difference Think I'll be having a moan at the dealers. Not very good for a 12 plate car. Just got it back too with new clutch and DMF this week! I told them about this but they gave me the usual 'they all do it'. I think it is something slightly worn there. Possibly the little hydraulic thing that runs inside the spring.
  7. Hi all - Yet another clutch post, although this time it's related to the actual pedal mechanism. Just wondered if anyone else gets a click on the pedal (does it without car running). It's about 3/4 of the way down. I've sprayed lots of white grease around the pivot points and the big green spring but this hasn't done anything. Looks like it's coming from the pin above the spring. It does it right when the pressure on this pin is shifted one way to another. I'm wondering if this is due to wear? I might try taking the pin out and greasing it up.
  8. Btw - the rest of the stuff you mentioned is normal for 370Z If it's a clicking/clunk when taking your foot on/off clutch pedal and it does it when the engine isn't running then might be linkage/hinges on the pedal assembly needing lubing up. I'm currently trying to get rid of mine! Sprayed every joint and the spring - has reduced it a bit but think it needs working a bit first then repeating a couple of times Grinding sound is the slack agricultural gearbox fitted to these
  9. Does it happen in Neutral too? Might be similar to my post: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/84138-370z-clutch-tappingknocking-noise/ It's always difficult to diagnose clutch issues without taking gearbox out which is fairly costly unless you feel confident in having a go yourself. If it's only doing it now and then and your car is out of warranty I would prob leave it and see if it gets worse or annoys the hell outta you (like it did me). At 41K it might be due a new clutch depending on how it's been driven. If you wanna get it sorted you might need a new flywheel or clutch (but prob best to do both if you're doing one or the other anyway)
  10. Got my car back today! (Hooray) Clutch feels much the same just doesn't have that annoying 'tapping' noise anymore. One thing I would add is Michael from Nissan Customer Services has been really helpful throughout, so I'd recommend getting in touch with them if you have any problems. He actually sorted a hire car to be delivered to my house and I dropped it back today to the dealers. So thumbs up to Nissan. Plus after all... they did pay for the whole job too which prob was in the region of 2.5K! Thanks for everyone's input.
  11. Right - Time for another update... Nissan authorised the warranty claim on Wednesday morning, so the garage ordered the parts. Was told it was all next day delivery... Phone call today: "sorry sir, clutch is here but flywheel is on 'back order' (whatever that actually means) and Nissan have given us a date of 2 weeks!" Meanwhile I am without my car which potentially could total nearly a month. No offer of a courtesy car. I don't understand how it can take 2 weeks to get a part from anywhere in the world! I have got Nissan customer services on this so will see what he has to say tomorrow - so far he has been very helpful.
  12. If it's only noisy when the pedal is out then it is probably just the noisy gearbox. They are agricultural on the 370 and the 350. Though the noise shouldn't be accompanied by any vibration as far as I'm aware but hope you get it sorted Tom
  13. Hi Brayster... I was going to update when everything was complete but as you have asked... They opened it all up, took longer than expected. Rang Nissan Thursday afternoon and they have said the DMF is indeed knackered and has knocked some fragments off the clutch plate so has gone in for warranty claim. Waiting to hear back on it but the guy said he can't see any reason why they would refuse it. Will need new DMF, clutch and bearing etc. If you are having the same symptoms as me I would get yours checked out but be prepared to pay if it's not the flywheel. I could just kinda tell that mine was the flywheel because of the heavy duty tapping noise. You don't want a £2500 - £3000 bill (if you get Nissan to do it) further down the line and if there is a problem then in my opinion it's better to get it sorted. Hopefully yours is the same and will all be covered and here's to hoping I won't run into any problems with my claim! I will let you know when it's all done etc and will try and get some photos of my damaged DMF and clutch if they'll let me. Tom
  14. Haha thanks Ross! I will try this out! That's very random! Suppose it just affects the idle and makes it do it worse or something? Will - I guess it's because it's in the clutch area and they want to cover their backs as some people do wear clutches out quickly. I bought it privately but didn't notice it at the time. To be fair to the guy he didn't either and he's quite interested in the outcome as he's just ordered a new one! He told me he never abused it and mainly drove it on the motorway commuting in top gear cruising. He has no reason to lie so I believe him. The sound seems quite heavy duty as it travels up through the gear stick and pedal. Guess I'll find out in a couple of days!
