    Won't unlock!?

Thanks for the advice. Car opened straight away when I got home so have liberally sprayed some Lithium grease over all mechanisms and will keep my fingers crossed!!

    Won't unlock!?

Hi, That does help, thanks. Unfortunately it was all the locks, boot and passenger side so i couldn't get access. Which is strange. Do the other locks only open after confirmation that the drivers door has opened? Would Lithium Grease suffice? Cheers
  3. I’m hoping someone has had a similar problem and can offer some advice… This is the first time I have had my car in freezing temperatures so don’t know if it has happened before…. I went to unlock this morning and the hazards flashed and there was a clunking noise but none of the doors (including boot) would open. I tried several times and nothing. I put the key in the lock and unlocked it; it clicked but still wouldn’t open. From what I could see the lock-switch on the inside didn’t move indicating the lock wasn’t physically unlocking. I’m hoping it is some water in the mechanism that has frozen and when I go back this evening it will be fine and I’ll WD40 it to stop it happening again. Anyone had a similar experience? Is it symptomatic of anything else? Any advice/help is appreciated!
  4. Quick question... Are the window motors in the convertible exactly the same as the one in the coupe? Any help/guidance is appreciated. Thanks.
  5. They won't even give a good will gesture. I think I'm going to have to pay for it...
  6. So I'd need the corrosion to be so bad that it causes a hole in the bonnet before they could say it was corrosion? The car has had 5 services at main dealers so must assume they have carried these out properly and as instructed (regarding the perforation inspection etc.).
  7. This is one area where I need educating. What is the difference between perforation and corrosion?
  8. I bought my 350Z a couple of months ago and I'm very happy with it. I bought it knowing it needed some work doing to the bonnet (at the time I thought it had some stone chips that had bubbled up). I took this in for a quote to a local well regarded bodyshop. The manager spotted the bubbles and a lot of corrosion underneath the seal (I'd not spotted this) and told me it was corrosion of the Aluminium bonnet and possibly still under warranty. He advised me to speak to my Dealer and to claim under warranty to save me the cost of paying him to do it (which was nice) - it's got a full dealer history. I took the car to Hylton Nissan in Worcester. Their bodyshop manager looked at the corrosion and had a good poke about flaking back some of the paint and said, and I quote, “That is corrosion, caused due to a manufacturing error in the Aluminium, you’ll get a new bonnet for that. †At this point I was very happy and confident it would be rectified by Nissan’s warranty. Hylton put the claim through to Nissan. I heard back the next day from Hylton Nissan that the claim won't be honoured - it's a paint defect and that warranty expired 2 years ago (car is a 53 plate). Anyway, I took some photos, got a 3rd opinion from another bodyshop (who also agrees corrosion) and sent the photos off to Nissan with a letter. They are sticking to their guns and not going to pay out. I did a search and understand someone else on the forum had a similar problem and got a new bonnet under warranty. They keep repeating it needs to have evidence of inside to outside perforation to be corrosion!? Nissan customer services also have evidence of the previous owner trying to claim and that was rejected 2 years ago! Now where do I go!? I'm a bit stuck and looking for advice, when I bought the car I was expecting (and budgeted) to pay for the remedial work but now I've got this far I want to fight it - if manufacturer's have warranties they should honour them!! Here is a link to some pics. Do people think it is corrosion? I'm no expert so can't 100% say it is, but then again neither is the guy on the end of the phone in customer services looking at a few photos... http://picasaweb.google.com/chriskerridge1/350ZCorrosion?feat=directlink Any help advice is appreciated, even if the advice is to stop moaning and pay for it (it is after all 6yrs old and I don't know it's previous history), I'm all ears! Oh, and if anyone has a bonnet the same colour they want to sell let me know!! Cheers
  9. Thanks for all the replies, I'd prefer not to say too much about the problem just yet until it gets resolved. It's safe to say it's Nissan's opinion (at the end of a phone) against 3 bodyshop experts so far and they're still not budging!! I've sent a letter recorded delivery to Nissan GB, if that still doesn't work then a letter to Japan might be in order. I've read of cases where main head office get involved in Japan and have solved it. I'm not going to drop this one on principal - why bother having a corrosion warranty!!?
  10. I've tried Nissan UK and now I need to escalate some warranty work to someone who cares! Email is preferred, I have their postal address but that is a last resort. Cheers
  11. Mine always surprises me when I go for a quick overtake - it pulls well from 3krpm all the way to 6k in a nice smooth manner. I had a 265bhp Impreza before and the overtaking ability of that was immense, it was relative light (flimsy), the Z is probably a bit slower but with the power delivery being a lot smoother it makes me more confident in going for it, and I think a bit safer. I don't think it will replace the performance of a high bhp turbo supra but you might find you prefer the way it delivers it. My choice for getting was because I wanted a big N/A engine as opposed to a blown 2.0 and I don't regret it. Although I do miss the 4wd - but that's probably because I'm not experienced with 270bhp and RWD.
  12. Is it an Aluminium Skin on a steel support frame/structure?? Any clarification is appreciated, it will help me greatly!!? Thanks!
  13. I'm currently discussing it with nissan customer service and would prefer not to publish anything publicly ideally in case it jeopardises anything... I'm sure they read this forum when the phones are quiet!!
  14. Hi All, Just hoping this forum has a paint/bodyshop expert lurking around who can give me some quick advice on a warranty claim. If they could pm me it would be appreciated. I only need an opinion on some pics - nothing serious!! Cheers
  15. Hi All, Just searching around and thought I would dig this back up for some help/advice on my same problem. I took my 53 plate in to an independent body shop for a quote on some bubbles on the lip of the bonnet, worse on the underside - no evidence of stone chips etc.. The guy looked at it and said "I'd try Nissan, that's definite corrosion that shouldn't be there and it may still be under warranty". Nice honest guy, he said that rather than get the work... Anyway, took it to Hylton Nissan in Worcester. Service manager looked at it and said "to my untrained eye I don't think you'll get that put through, it's not corrosion, I wouldn't bother trying" I asked for 2nd opinion. Bodyshop manager comes out "Definite corrosion problem, caused by manufacturing fault, must have been a dodgy batch of bonnets, Nissan should get that done for you". I very nearly had to argue the points with him - I thought these guys were here to help!? Anyway, service manager takes some awful out of focus pics of the problem and reluctantly asks Nissan. Phone call today from service manager (credit due for an answer in less than 24hrs!) saying (more or less) "I told you so, they won't put it through it's a paint fault and that warranty is for 3 years so we can't do anything for you"...... Anyway, do you think if I took it to a dealer who actually wants to help then they may try to persuade nissan a bit more? I got the distinct feeling the service manager didn't want the work...? I have since rung Nissan customer services and asked them to investigate and said two different 'experts' believe it is corrosion, they have said they will get back to me. I can take decent images of the problem myself and will do to forward to Nissan if needed. Any advice on getting this pushed through will be appreciated. Cheers
